and what about the gateway issue?
Yeah, what about it?
Man I just have to say this, LSD and Marijuana are nothing alike, not even simalair. This is based on personal experience.

BUT I can agree upon that mostly being the case only when the drug is illegal
Read the thread, we've been through this. There is no "gateway issue". If someone wants something stronger and more dangerous, then they will find it.

Weed will not make anyone have any truly enlightening epiphanies, ideas yes, epiphanies no.
and what about the gateway issue?
I tried marrywanna and now I have a hankerin' for some creck cuckane! The only thing that could make cannabis a gateway drug even in the slightest is the fact that it's illegal. Say you're new to it and don't have many friends to help introduce you to it. You get hooked up with a dealer you don't really know and maybe some time down the line he offers you something more hard. Just give it two minutes of thought and you'd realize that the barely significant cases where it could be seen as a gateway drug are because it's illegal. If it were legal this would not be the case, unless you also consider alcohol and caffeine to be gateway drugs. I've never had an interest in trying crystal meth as a result of getting stoned during a social occasion with friends and feeling tingly and smiley all night, and then having a good night's sleep and feeling refreshed the next day.
It is a good comment. However, enabling younger people easier access to weed won't go well for the legalisation.
pot is easier to get for teenagers than alcohol. also, if we learn from history (like smart people do), we can see that in portugal, drug use among teenagers either dropped, or stayed relatively the same.
It is a good comment. However, enabling younger people easier access to weed won't go well for the legalisation.
Younger people can already get weed. In my experience, dealers don't usually ID people. If anything legalising it will make it slightly harder for young people to buy weed because it would probably be 18+ like tobacco and alcohol.
It is a good comment. However, enabling younger people easier access to weed won't go well for the legalisation.
"enabling younger people's easier access to weed" is exactly the opposite of what legalization and regulation would do.
Psychoactive effects. Not Psychedelic. Weed will not make anyone have any truly enlightening epiphanies, ideas yes, epiphanies no.
Understanding the circle of 5th's was a huge epiphany for me when I was baked and learned it. So was the time I came up with edible bubblewrap.
Is weed like a big thing in the US? From what I see in the UK people look down on it as being really childish and irresponsible, just like with smoking
It's irresponsible only if you are, just like drinking and most drug use. Tax it, regulate it, legalize it. People deserve the right to make their own decisions on (most) of these drugs.
I'm opposed to recreational drug use from a personal standpoint, but am supportive of peoples' right to use those drugs if they so wish, as long as it is being done in a safe and responsible manner. Legalize marijuana, but with similar stipulations applied as alcohol, such as: no operating motor vehicles while under the influence; no public intoxication, or publicly disruptive and dangerous behavior as a result of intoxication; no drug use at the work place, particularly for those people holding sensitive positions, like law enforcement, military, construction, or any other line of work that could be dangerous if performed with dulled reflexes and clouded judgment. Just some basic precautions to ensure that everybody remains safe, you know? Everybody should be happy with such a compromise, right? What happens in the confines of private property should remain nobody's concern but the parties directly involved, so long as nobody is recklessly endangering themselves or others, or otherwise infringing upon somebody's choice not to be involved.
Said it better than I could have.

Psychedelics are introspective tools as much as they are recreational.

[editline]18th October 2011[/editline] Im getting sick of people talking like they know what psychadelic effects are without any experience of them.
You understood and had ideas but you didnt find out more about yourself. Psychedelics are introspective tools as much as they are recreational.
Yeah that was just an example of a couple epiphanies when I was stoned. Even though LSD is a powerful introspective tool (as you mentioned) I don't really consider it as recreational as pot, mostly because getting fried often can really melt your mind. I would LOVE to try it though.
Yea with LSD it is recommended to have it once a month at most
Psychoactive is not Psychedelic Psychedelic is:
Psychedelic states are an array of experiences including changes of perception such as hallucinations, synesthesia, altered states of awareness or focused consciousness, variation in thought patterns, trance or hypnotic states, mystical states, and other mind alterations.
This is nothing to do with music or anything that isn't a drug. Because music cannot change physical perception. If cannabis brings upon a psychedelic experience it is only because the user is pre-exposed or suffering from a psychosis. I know this from personal experience because I suffer from psychosis and also smoke weed regularly.
End of [stupid] discussion

I am an occasional smoker and I don't think it's a good idea personally.
Actually, it shouldn't be illegal to smoke something that's probably not as bad as a cigarette. If they legalize it, it would enable the police to focus on preventing other crimes than from just working on marijuana busts.
I'm opposed to recreational drug use from a personal standpoint
I don't want to be a Bitchy Billy but why? Do you ever drink alcohol? (Post was great though, 8 stars out of 10 stars)
Is weed like a big thing in the US? From what I see in the UK people look down on it as being really childish and irresponsible, just like with smoking
Actually smoking it is pretty irresponsible for the lungs, but using it to make baked goods/oils is pretty reasonable.

Think about it this way: [release] LISTS[/release]
Do you notice anything?

I think your lists are stupid because some of those things on the tobacco list are caused by the act of smoking itself (namely most of the cancers, asthma), so they can be caused by smoking pretty much anything THC slows down the growth of cancer but if you're pumping burning plant matter through your throat and lungs you're more than counteracting that
I know that if it were legalized, i'd buy it, but not to be cool and get high like all them highschool freshman kids who are hardcore. I'd buy it mostly to calm me down when i watch movies and read books. Usually i'm really hyper and lately it's extended to ruining movies and books for me in that i can't concentrate in them. In my few times of being high i tried reading a book and got so into it, i understood all of it. Alcohol helps as well as it mellows me out, it works to a lesser extent but it helps. I'd use it for reading and movies essentially, as it calms me down to a normal level.
Also, the best Rappers are ones who use Weed (surprisingly, a lot of rappers now are just "fake") because weed makes the Rappers have better lyrics.
My logic for it is that marajuana is mainly to gain a psychedelic experience. Not quite as extreme as LSD, but somewhere along the lines of it. That experience can make you lose your train of thought in the long run. I don't use statistics because it's common sense.
And the alcohol I'm seeing being used as a more healthy alternative leaves you level-headed and rational?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-Nb-_tHcjQ I love listening to Joe Rogan. Personally, I think that it's ridiculous that marijuana isn't legal yet. Honestly, even if you don't smoke, can't you recognize that stopping the prohibition and cutting back on crime while adding money to our economy is a good thing..?
They should legalize it for medical uses. I could see them just making it a legal commodity to consume at age 21 after a few years of being legal as a medical substance.
