'Trolled to death' - calls for David Cameron to ban ask.fm as another teenager kills herself - Polidicks

Hopefully Dave will come to the rescue with his Pornwall of Justice and save us from these horrible websites that breed hatred and evil.

The only kind of cyber bullying that exists is when it's real life bullying extending onto the internet. But if it's just some dude on the other side of the planet saying you are ugly, it's not much to worry about.

Cyber bullying can be really difficult to ignore. There have been cases of people who have changed their names and moved away, and cyber bullies went out of their way to track them down again to ruin their reputation online from afar. That's the shit that potential employers see and will subsequently throw your resume out because of it.

Why do people reply to trolls? If you completely ignore them they usually go away.

Most of the posts here are assuming the bullying is done by someone she didnt know for no apparent reason. It seems more likely to me that it was someone, or a group of people, at school.

This is fucking stupid, god forbid people bother to use the settings the site provides to make sure you don't get random abuse nah that's too much like hard work just ban it. Let's just ban every form of communication because someone might get insulted.

Banning a whole medium of communication just because something bad happened on it doesn't make sense.

To be fair, if you can't take critizism over the internet, even more commit suicide over it, you shouldn't be on the internet to begin with.

There are tons of ways to avoid unwanted attention if you are in dire need of it. Especially on the web. If you are the person who could be influenced by posts online, what is your other solution, really? Assholes will continue to be assholes, and closing whole place because of terrible people who exist in every community is extreme, inefficient option.
