For me it's not the matchmaking system in itself that annoys me, it's how it forces you to either play with people from your own country or face potential lag spikes. Some of us actually enjoy talking and playing with foreigners. But some developers doesn't seem to respect that.
Pick a different ser- oh wait...
Tried out the multiplayer, haven't had any awful lag. Bars have been all green except once when I was yellow but even then I could hardly notice any connection lag. I just don't like the player limit. You spend most of the time either huddled in a corner waiting for people to come by or go searching for them for 5 minutes.
Why rate me dumb ? It's true...

I was playing spec ops earlier with someone, he was the host, and I was really lagging. It's a shame really, it's a great game, and this really spoils it.
Doesn't make you any less dumb. :downs:
I'm not one of him, I'm too cool for that. :coolfish: Oh wow, they actually hide their bad ping rather than fix it, stubborn bastards.
oh shut up shibbey you stole my name along time ago.....name for my ferret....LMAO YAH RITE
The people who are actually defending the game, did you ever play a Valve game? Because you're totally missing out.
oh shut up shibbey you stole my name along time ago.....name for my ferret....LMAO YAH RITE
Shibbey has pink eyes, albino or something, how awesome is that?
The people who are actually defending the game, did you ever play a Valve game? Because you're totally missing out.
Clearly they have, since anybody who ever has would agree that MW2 gives you the best online experience ever, and isn't beat out by a $20, or even, $15 game.
Lets stop arguing over whos E-penis is bigger and all agree that this was a very shitty game over hyped by some very shitty people. Fuck you IW!!!
Fact: 95% of the people whining here haven't played the game yet.
Because buying it and therefore tying the game to your Steam account forever will sure show Activision/IW that you don't support this shit.
Fact: 95% of the people whining here haven't played the game yet.
Fact: 95% of all facts are made up.
The people who are actually defending the game, did you ever play a Valve game? Because you're totally missing out.
Missing out of what? Last time I played a multiplayer Valve game, I had to wade through a fuckload of shitty dedicated servers where the hosts felt the need to modify the game's rules to the point where it wasn't fun anymore. (instant respawn, 32 players, shitty custom maps, extra unbalanced rules, fake player counts, etc.) Once I finally did find a good server, I was later forced to move on once everyone eventually decided to quit the game. For me, at least, dedicated servers suck. I've always hated them because people shit up a carefully balanced game with stupid mods. Sure, Infinity Ward should've put a dedicated server option into the game, but I sure as hell wouldn't use it. Neither would the huge amount of people who e-mailed them complaining about how modding was ruining CoD. Why do you think they switched to this system in the first place? The people who want dedicated servers are a vast minority, and it only seems like it's everybody whining about it because we're on forums where 'hardcore' people who care about stuff like modding gather. The rest of the more 'casual' population (the majority) are just playing the game and not caring or noticing since if you actually played this game and focused on having fun instead of preemptively whining about it, you'd find that the system works just fine. I know I'm about to be buried in boxes (since having this opinion around here just means you're dumb rather than disagreeable), but it won't change the great experience I'm having with MW2 compared to CoD4. Last time I played CoD4, I couldn't find a good server for shit that wasn't a clusterfuck with grenades everywhere. MW2 restricts the player count to the amount it should be and matches me up with like skill levels. So far it's been WAY more fun and I hope they keep it this way.
What's up host.
I don't even know if i was hosting. How do you even host the games?
After playing MW2 Multiplayer on Steam all day yesterday, I conclude that this thread is bullshit. I must have participated in at least 50 lobbies and I had no lag whatsoever, and neither did anyone else. Ask the 80,000 or so current Steam players. Yes, it's not as nice as having dedicated servers, but it's stable.
I complained about the game. Then I bought it out of boredom, and because a friend bought it. I found it being much better than I thought it was. It never goes below 3 bars for me. And i have hosted before and my friends had 3-4 bars. ( not out of 20. out of 4. )
Every server I've played on has given me a decent ping
This, and my isp is BT, so that says something.
Search and Destroy sure can be hard sometimes, but I ended my last battle for tonight (early morning here) using my precious Barrett. :clint: And unlocked silencer for it, awesooooome.
and my isp is BT.
oh god
oh god
Exactly.
