Well it no longer works now, but back in the day they allowed members to play on the Runescape Classic servers.

God I remember 2007 runescape. It was so fun to play with my group of friends from school. I remember when I changed genders to female because I lost a bet, and soon after some guy gave me all his expensive shit if I would be his "internet girlfriend." I took his stuff and changed back :v:. I just remember my friends and I all getting in big fights with people for no reason, or going to the banana island to try and harvest all the bananas just because it was a "good way to make money" (Not really sure on that, but it was a fun way to money and that's all that mattered anyway.) We would also make treks out to that desert pretending we got lost and trying to survive. I don't think I would come back to this as that group of friends no longer exists, most of us have parted ways a few years ago. Still would be cool to take a trip down memory lane though.

These were early 2008 but I've played since 2006.
I'm 18 now, and I can't stop cringing when I look at these videos.
I was about level 100 or so before I got banned for hacking.
Even though I wasn't hacking.
I never got my account back, even though I spent about 2 years constantly grinding without use of third party programs, which I never used.

This probably has something to do with it.
My friend and I used to play this to try and do odd things, like run around in the deepest wilderness whilst only being like level 10 (sucks when you had high level people just click "follow" and then slay you when the level difference barrier was thin enough).
What we'd also do is there was a place in the wilderness where, I believe it was either steel leggings or chest armour, would spawn. It could be sold for like 500-700 gp so we'd run there and grab it and then hop worlds. We'd just go top-down from the servers list until our inventory was full, and then we'd run back to town and sell it all off. By the time we made it back out to the wilderness, it all respawned so we'd spend a few hours doing this.
Unfortunately because we were 12, we both gave away our passwords in the hopes that this one man we encountered meant only good when he said he could deposite 5mil gp in to our accounts if only he had the password.
The grand exchange, wilderness changes,trade cap, and graphics update were the reasons I quit playing. I really missed my shop I made where I sold hard to get clothes for 20k when I would buy them for 2k. I felt like a businessman and the trade cap shitted all over that. Going camping in the wilderness and running away from high levels was fun too.
also i remember one kid quit playing and gave his account away in game. I got it and he forgot to cancel his membership for a year. Shit was awesome.
well, that was boring. Now i remember why I quit RS.
RuneScape was that game that everybody trashed talked but secretly played.

It still works, you just had to log into Runescape Classic back a few years ago when Jagex opened RSC up to members for a week. If you logged in to RSC during that week, you can go on any time you want (for example, now). You just had to log in as a member during the event
Remember 6/6/06 when Duriel321 used a glitch to teleport from his house's combat arena into Falador and proceeded to massacre errybody? So many rares and items dropped as people scrambled to logout.
I used to love playing Runescape; but that was mostly because I enjoyed all of the exploring and gaming with friends at the time.

I say go for the challenge. Start from 0GP and make it your goal to complete all quests and find a dragon medium helmet without anyone else around you to help. Think how much effort it even takes to get hold of a dragon sword from level 3. Jesus christ...

I'm just wondering if they'll add any of the new content back into the 2007 version. There have been some cool items that have been released in recent years that would still be fun to use in the oldschool version.
I played this a ton in elementary school. I remember one time when I was walking around with my low level character when I found 12k in gold, full mithril armor, and a bunch of other valuable items just lying in a pile on the ground. I went over and picked some of it up, but pretty soon another guy walked over, yelled "OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING", and tried to pick up the rest of the items. He then said "OMG GIVE IT BACK", but I logged out, waited a minute to make sure he was gone, then logged back in. I ended up spending the money on a bunch of random items I didn't know how to use, like magic staffs. I'm not completely sure why someone would leave that much stuff on the ground, but at least I got free stuff out of it.
