Now for the review of the writing. I believe the apology to the police station was a bit unnecessary, it's a way too obvious typical thing to compare and contrast an event like someone being polite to relate it to his current relaxed state and the crime he had just commited. A little bit too cliche for my tastes. You'd know what that means because you're french. You're laying on his relaxed state in this writing way too much. I'm sitting here reading it going, yeah, he's a nice guy, I get it! This reminds me of A rainy day or whatever that Scout made. Phil and wife met 25 years earlier. How original, 20 to 25, 5 years after their anniversary, the typical marking point that they've been together a decent amount of time. She's a nice lady and he's a nerd, another typical TV/movie cleche. A guy like this would be commited, not in jail. One key factor to this is his perfectly calm polite attitude after he had just killed/butchered his wife. Another thing, why jail? He'd be in prison or the nut house. They don't hold you in jail for too long if you butchered your wife and it's obvious. You never explained why he was losing kilos also, was he not eating or what? Next, I would like to know how he swiped her head off with a friggin kitchen knife! He slashes her throat once... This tall geeky guy slashes her head off with one swipe, I'd like to see the visual for how that looked. Picture this nerd with a butcher knife just swiping a head off with one swipe. Sounds like a B rated movie. Next, is his pleadings for a kid really a good thing to beg for before sex? He's not getting any and I would ask for that first wouldent you, one thing at a time. Let me get this strait, he is extremely pissed off with her but he wants to have a kid with her? Correct me if I'm wrong but, doesn't his wife mean divorce, not break up? That's what we call it here in America when you want to end a marrige. The only time he cheated on her was when he cuddled with other women. Kind of sounds like the girl my friend wanted to marry. She cheated on him. One other thing, if his wife wanted a divorce, why were they still sleeping in the same bed? I woulden't call his crime unexpected like you did either. That's something you can kind of predict when you've been married over 20 years. I guess it's kind of unexpected because he's a nice guy but it's otherwise the kind of news that can make someone crazy over. Anyways, my suggestion to you, Max. Write about something new. Your story was well-written, it was just too typical and some things were a little off. I used to write stuff like this when I was 9. My mom thought I was disturbed.
