Doesn't the bible says that money is the root of all evil?
no this is FNAF, the root of all evil here is child molesters
They're the main demographic of the game and this seems like a "we want the money" kind of thing so...
literally the only reason most kids (my own siblings included) is because they watched some shithead minecraft lets player play it and thought it was the hottest shit
But ideally this movie would be rated R.
And how MisterSandman pointed out, it's really unbelievable that he'd keep coming back.
It'd be better if they scrapped the multi-night thing altogether or had it build up, like he notices weird things the 1st though 4th nights and shit hits the fan on the 5th.
[editline]7th April 2015[/editline]
note that I've never played these games
Vertigo seems to specialize in adapting non US movies for the US market, so this pairing makes sense. The thing about horror films is they are almost always good for a certain amount of box office, so if they can keep the budget down they will make a lot of money.
Example: Quarantine(REC remake) budget $12 million, made $40 million
The downside is they don't aim high artistically, so at best this movie will be a faithful but uninspired movie version of the game.
Bear in mind Scott hasn't mentioned anything about this on his site which carries this disclaimer:

Unless he confirms it it's probably bogus speculation like the last time this whole idea about a FNAF movie came up
I actually could see this. Like a new security guard is hired for the Restaurant not know what's in store. He slowly begins to discover that the the animatronics are actually living and has to learn to deal with them. Basically Night at the Museum but instead a horror film.
Interesting. It might actually not be shit (so it wouldn't be sticking by the games then).
The guard could keep coming back because he is obsessed with finding out what the deal is with the place.
If this does take off, I imagine it being a series of films, each film representing one night. On each night, the protagonist gets closer and closer to finding out what's really going on with the restaurant with the killer animatronics and who was responsible for the murdered kids. By the fifth film the night guard is at the point where he's at the revelation about the whole mess and tries to end it ala Exorsist or just waiting the night out like the other nights.
Can Purple Guy be played by Seth Green?

I don't get it.
Honestly, I think the idea behind FNAF has the potential to be more interesting as a movie than it does as a game.
Considering the games are just sitting there watching waiting for somethign to happen it could work
so long as there's a jumpscare every 3 minutes
If this were a VERY serious adaptation that delved into the fucked up backstory about all the children that went missing and were murdered and such, it could actually be rather cool. But it needs to be very dark and grim, and absolutely not a PG pitch. I'm like 5% genuinely interested and 95% quantum-cautious optimism. This is WAY too easy to fuck up.
Also, "weirdly adorable"? Yeah, nah.
already can see the trailer
the guard will be telling his boss "AT NIGHT THE ANIMATRONICS COME TO LIFE"
"suuuuuuuuuuuure they do" and then wacky music plays as the lights go out
markiplier as sec. guard
pewdiepie as freddy
smike as foxy
living tombstone as bonnie
gametheory as chica
and scott as spooky phone man
its perfect
I don't get it.
The joke is that Robot Chicken isn't afraid to show children getting murdered on TV. I think that's it, anyway.
aaaahHahahahahah
AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
AHHHHHHAHAHAHAHHAHA
i seriously can't believe this is a fucking thing
almost want to go see it out of morbid curiosity but i'm certain that probably wouldn't be worth it

Without a doubt this is intended to be a franchise from the start. Paranormal Activity will probably be their template. Low budget series with a heavy reliance on backstory to provide an excuse for the static location and jump scares.
The one issue I see fans of the game having is there needs to be more than the guard. There will almost certainly need to be both male and female lead roles. They won't want this to be a sausage fest. Playing the game is one thing, watching a movie with just the one protagonist won't do it.
god damn it my little brother is going to eat this shit up and it's going to suck hard
That was quick, thumbs up to the creator.
it's coming out in about 3 months, and then, 3 months later, a sequel will come out with a plot that's exactly the same as the first one except for one to two small "twists"
Given the history of how movies based off of video games usually tend to do, I can see this flopping fairly hard.
I don't much like fnaf but good for Scott, he's a pretty inspiring guy. He never gave up when fnaf never got any attention in the first place. Now he's swimming in dough. I'm jealous of what a determined dude he is.
It wont be good unless it's incredibly gory and disgusting. I need to feel like im covered in blood in a musty, abandoned pizza parlor.
This has potential buuuuuuut I'm not holding my breath. I'm a huge scaredy cat but lately horror movies these days don't give me the slightest spook.
Pretty sure at this point Scott is set for life with money. :v: Good on him, he's generous with it and has given it away to charities and has a family he needs to support.
I wouldn't even go as far to say that this will even happen to begin with, there have been so many instances where film companies acquire rights to make a film adaption of a video game and we never hear another word of it after that.
Like when MGM acquired the rights to make a film adaptation of Metro 2033 back in 2012 and then nothing ever actually happened. http://www.themarysue.com/metro-2033-movie/

In this case I hope that's what happens. Might just be for the best.
Considering how long most video game-adapted films will take, this project will either end up being shelved indefinitely or it comes out at a time where the general hype has died down.
Take a look at Angry Birds. The film was announced when it was in its prime, but now the fad has died down to the point of obscurity and the film isn't even out yet. Maybe the fad will jumpstart once the film comes out (see: Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey).
Halloween 2016 is doable for the first movie. The Poltergeist remake started filming in Sept 2013 for a Feb 2015 release, 17 months later. The release date was shifted for strategic reasons. We are in April 2015, Oct 2016 is 18 months away.
i think this would make a good cheap movie.
Everyone thought a lego movie would be retarded but warner bros proved that wrong
