Now it would be interesting if they made MP3's that contained the tracks for all the separate instruments. I don't know why that would be better, exactly, but it would be interesting, especially if you could change the volume levels of each instrument.
There would be lawsuits up the ass.
What they need to be working on is higher quality + compression.
Meh, V0 MP3 is good enough, I bet less than 0.05% of people would be able to tell the difference between V0 MP3 and FLAC/WAV in an A/B~>X test.
True to an extent, but one needs a good quality set of headphones and mp3 player/sound card to tell the difference. The sound quality is only as good as that which plays it.
song.mdna?
I'll stick with FLAC, thank you very much

It's not going to "kill" the MP3 seeing as it'll be more expensive, if the quality is as good as FLAC though i'll be interested.

Better make a format that is as big as mp3, but as good as flac quality wise
Flac is useless. no different quality from mp3 and takes up a shitload more space. Flac is one huge placebo gentlemen. People who disagree have fallen for the placebo effect.
song.mdna?
More like 08_SuPeRhOtNeWmAiNStReAmARtiSt_-_SoNg-www.hotnewrnbmp3s.co.cc.mdna
More like 08_SuPeRhOtNeWmAiNStReAmARtiSt_-_SoNg-www.hotnewrnbmp3s.co.cc.mdna
wow ok i dont know about you but i rename my songs if they look like that ok
Lyrics and other features eh? If i buy from itune i get all of that. You don't need to cram it all into one file and make it larger then it needs to be. i sure as hell don't hold my ipod up to my face reading the lyrics on the bus. I turn it on and shove it in my pocket.
This would have sounded innovative before smartphones came around. Way to take the wheel, make it ten times more cumbersome, and then call it an upgrade.
I can't find any technical information about it. It's like it doesn't even exist. And the company that made it has nothing to do with the MP3 format, by the way. This is just yet another shitty lossy codec - with DRM!
Flac is useless. no different quality from mp3 and takes up a shitload more space. Flac is one huge placebo gentlemen.
It does make you look cooler among the hipster crowd.
Flac is useless. no different quality from mp3 and takes up a shitload more space. Flac is one huge placebo gentlemen.
Except quality really isn't the main benefit of FLAC. FLAC is a lossless codec, so the sound quality doesn't deteriorate over time.

Plus you can't really separate Aphex Twin tracks can you.
Flac is useless. no different quality from mp3 and takes up a shitload more space. Flac is one huge placebo gentlemen.
For the last time, we use FLAC for archiving purposes. If our disks go tits-up, we still have a 1:1 copy of our media.
Am i right in saying FLAC just has a very high data rate. and/or isn't compressed.
If you have high quality speakers and good ears, you can easily hear the difference between mp3 and flac
Am i right in saying FLAC just has a very high data rate. and/or isn't compressed.
The FLAC audio is compressed but still has the exact same data when played back and sounds exactly the same. mp3 audio is compressed much further by losing some of that information, many people can't notice the loss but some really stand by FLAC.
If I want lyrics, I'll just look through my CD booklet, instead of wasting space on my MP3 player. Seriously, if people give in to that not realizing you could just as easily put your lyrics on it to begin with, then that shows how ignorant people still are about a computer.
If you have high quality speakers and good ears, you can easily hear the difference between mp3 and flac
Proof please.
Except quality really isn't the main benefit of FLAC. FLAC is a lossless codec, so the sound quality doesn't deteriorate over time.
Because MP3s are vinyl.
I just use 320kbps Mp3s, I can notice a small difference in them and the FLACs, but, I really don't give enough of a shit.
Unless there's anything revolutionary audio-wise this will just be a bloated MP3 version nobody needs since what most people do with their mp3s is listen to them instead of looking at fancy extra content that might contain all kinds of malicious shit.
Same opinion here. The next revolutionary format needs to make the audio sound as if it's being conducted in the same room right in front of me with a nice crisp, clean sound that doesn't get fuzzy at high volumes.
That leaves us with two choices: - buy the song and get spammed with ads - pirate it
Why can't everyone just use FLAC
As if 2000 songs on one penny sized piece of memory is not enough. Who the fuck needs lyrics anyways.
Proof please.
No can do. All I can say is that on my earphones(I don't have speakers at all) I can't hear a difference between flac or mp3, but on my friend's system(he's soundphile) I can hear it a lot better. FLACs sound much cleaner compared to 320kbps mp3s. If you don't believe me, that's fine. It's not like I care.
Lyrics, album art, and I guarantee, the most convoluted fucking DRM system you will have ever seen. I'll stick w0th mp3 thanks.

I had a 2nd generation shuffle. It was recently broken, though. I had an iPod so I could listen to shit, not so I could look at shitty blog posts. If the quality of the audio is substantially better, cool. It might catch on in a few years time. If not, then fuck off, would you kindly?
FLAC must be an expensive, time comsuming habit.
