Like what? I wish the schools here required uniforms. Classy!
Uniforms aren't a bad thing, necessarily. I was more making a comment about society. [editline]11:57PM[/editline]
What? How does having sex give a black mark on your reproductive record? Fuck, I didn't even know they had reproductive records in school.
Let me ask you a different way: Would you want to marry someone who's had 40+ dicks in their mouth? No, you would drop that nasty whore in a heartbeat unless you're really fucking desperate.
This kid in my math class had a shirt that said "God is Dead - John Proctor" it was quoting the Crucible play so it was a technicality that he could wear it. Then the other day he wore a shirt that says "Real men beat their meat, not women and children" and he got a detention for it :frown:
Damn him for not hitting Women and Children :argh:
Yet also makes you feel replaceable, not unique and like a cog in a machine. Young teenagers are unsure of them-selves and who they are, don't make it harder for them by making them think they're some kind of replaceable cog in a machine.
Kids don't understand what being 'unique' really is. They all act like they're their own person when they look like everyone else and make themselves look like slobs in the process. [editline]12:12AM[/editline]
They also discourage individuality and sterilize creativity.
Once again, creativity is not wearing your pants below your waist and looking like a reject. A person has creativity when they put pen to paper, brush to canvas or are able to express their words in a way that makes other people listen and take notice. Not because you wear pajamas to school. [editline]12:13AM[/editline]
bawwww for them. my high school's dress code consists of solid color polos, non modified jeans, khakis, and no jackets indoors. it's a public school btw.
Sounds nice.
Does it matter more about who they were or more who they are?
Except the STDs from who they were stay with them.
School Uniforms add a sense of unity and pride to a school. They also keep a certain standard of decency and almost completely do away with the need for a dress code beyond "Don't remove the tie unless" or "Switch to pants in the winter" etc.
I agree, I support the uniform "cause" for this school :v: Now, if someone can give a legitimate reason against school uniforms then perhaps there's something worth considering. The argument of "being cogs in a machine" is invalid because 90% of the time that's teenage angst acting up. There's a fine line between "freedom of expression" and "self-decency" and there's no reason to not be able to blend the two together realistically; Uniforms. In elementary up to middle school I had to wear uniforms (although the uniforms carried on, obviously, up to the senior years of highschool). The uniforms were khaki pants or shorts in beige or black with polo shirts branding a small logo of the school's initials above the left breast. The polo shirts came in a variety of colors; white, black, green and yellow to name a few and there were no real problems with them. No one complained and certainly nobody felt like they were just some "cog in a machine". There were gym strips and workout wear provided aswell (although they were more slack in regards to that stuff). There's plenty of time to freely express yourself outside of school you know.
Jesus isn't dead, he's Madonna's boyfriend.
If those Christian kids have the right to wear shirts that say "Jesus lives", then I have the right to wear something that says the opposite. And also, they need to shut the fuck up about how it's a "distraction". If the kids can't focus because some chick looks skanky, then they need to be mature and focus their attention on their work.
I think the entire religion thing should be completely void. Church and State are completely separate institutions. If you want to praise Jesus or dismiss him, do it when you're not on federal property. It is a distraction of women are walking around like tramps. We're all people. Why do people seem to forget that just because someone is a Teacher, a Cop or a Soldier they have no flaws? We're all human, they're people.
Kids don't understand what being 'unique' really is. They all act like they're their own person when they look like everyone else and make themselves look like slobs in the process.
That's one of the ways you learn.
High School lasts four years, people. Grow up.

also, uniforms are more laundry. My family doesn't have time for that shit :smug:
It is a distraction of women are walking around like tramps. We're all people.
My biggest distraction in school was everything that wasn't a teacher.
Except the STDs from who they were stay with them.
That's something else entirely, that is more likely to be a sign of bad judgement.
I pretty much agree with OP's article.

[editline]12:13AM[/editline] Sounds nice.
being unique is simply that, just being unique. They dress differently from you, they are their own person. Their life and their person represents this. Sure, every gangsta x nigga looks the same on the outside, but everyone is their own unique person on the inside.
I hate when girls that are skinny as shit wear sweatpants that say "juicy" on them.
How am I supposed to learn when I see a pair of fiiiiiiiine legs right in front of me?
If everyone is different and unique on the inside, then why does one have to put so much stress on their external image?
What I hate is that the same people who preach "don't judge a book by its cover" are the ones saying "I dress to express myself"
So you're saying we should all dress like walmart trailer trash?
I'll dress however the fuck I want. I'm not even in high school but I'm still pissed off.
If everyone is different and unique on the inside, then why does one have to put so much stress on their external image?
Everyone is going to judge no matter what.
I think I'm done here. There is a pretty even split in people who say that dress code and uniforms are a good thing and the side that say they're bad and block creativity or whatever it is they like to believe. Fact of the matter is, no matter what side you're on, you're not going to change the others mind. Just want to leave the thread with this bit of knowledge: High school is four years long.
bawwww for them. my high school's dress code consists of solid color polos, non modified jeans, khakis, and no jackets indoors. it's a public school btw.
non-modified jeans? fuck that
If everyone is different and unique on the inside, then why does one have to put so much stress on their external image?
because they want to express it and part of it is peer pressure and trying to fit in. Goths and Emos are typically confused teenagers trying to find love and acceptance in life, thus conforming to an image, but deep down they're all unique people.
I think I'm done here.
wow what a loss
