I don't live in Oklahoma, ain't my problem. If they don't like it they can take it to the courts. Furthermore if you think THAT'S a reason to allow felon presidents you're pretty fucking out of it.
yeah i pretty am fucking out of it. lol
yeah i pretty am fucking out of it. lol
Imagine that. It's almost like you're high or something.
Furthermore it isn't a federally recognized crime.
hey get on steam ya johnnycunt
Basically any crime you can serve upwards of 1-2 years of prison time for is a felony. Not jail, prison. As in conviction.
And they can't be president, or any other government official at that. That kind of shit is how Hitler got into power. He was convicted of treason and he ended up dictator even after prison time.
Yes, because all dictators in history came from prison. You need a reality check, bro.

I'm almost sure, it still isn't a good idea to let felons run for president.
lankist is a bourgeois lawyer hurr hurr

If he's obviously a bad candidate, then he won't be voted in. Just because you can run for president, doesn't mean you'll win.

You are being incredibly asinine.

Just because you CAN commit a felony doesn't mean you should.

That doesn't even make sense, really.
I CONTROL THE MEANS OF LAW-PRODUCTION.

And you are a sad, miserable exuse for an individual. Exactly what you would expect from an individual who reads 1018 pages of a bill just to find the flaws.
We have standards of government for a reason. If we didn't we wouldn't be a democracy, we would be a glorified anarchy.
And you are a sad, miserable exuse for an individual.
Ad hominem: It works, bitches.

That's nice.

Let me put it this way:
If you rape someone, you p. much lose your right to participate in our system of politic. Probably should have considered that before raping someone, and violating their right to not-rape.
We have standards of government for a reason. If we didn't we wouldn't be a democracy, we would be a glorified anarchy.
That's odd, because Felons lose the right to vote also. It's not a proper democracy if every citizen cannot vote.

People who violate someone's rights lose a few key rights for themselves. That's how justice works. There is no justification for violent crime, and there is no excuse for committing it.
[editline]02:15AM[/editline]
Also, felons CAN vote on a federal level. Only certain states choose not to allow them to. Which is fully within the rights of a local court. It's no different from incarceration or probation. It is a punishment for crime.

That's not justice, that's revenge.
Guess it depends on what your interpretation of justice is; I tend to believe that when you plop somebody in a poorly managed hellhole for 5 years, and they come out worse than when they came in, that is not justice.

Yeah, generally that's what punishment is suppose to be. Punishment is fundamental in justice.

Justice only exists in your head. The only purpose of law is to keep society running smoothly.

True justice would be not violating the people's rights to begin with but unfortunately shit doesn't work that way.
I think that justice is when the criminal becomes truly remorseful about what he/she did, and can become a functioning member of society afterward. Punishment is petty bullshit if the 5 year sentence is nothing but revenge for a stupid decision or poor life choice on the criminal's part.
That whole mindset of yours is why there is still rape and murder in American prisons, because it's all part of the "justice experience"

No, revenge would be raping a rapist.
Punishment is denying a rapist his ability to make choices for himself, given he cannot be trusted with the responsibility.

Too bad that isn't how the world works.

Killing someone or raping someone or robbing someone is far more than just a poor choice. It's a calculated violation of someone else's rights to achieve your own ends.
True justice would be not violating the people's rights to begin with but unfortunately shit doesn't work that way.
Not really.
The whole concept of rights comes with the responsibility to ensure you don't abuse your rights to the loss of someone else. When you violate the responsibility you lose the rights.

Uhh, no. Justice is blind. It doesn't see remorse or crocodile tears of rapists and murderers. They commit a crime, they do their time. No excuses. If they're truly remorseful they'll pay their dues and live in peace when their freedom restored.

And where does the decision to do so root from? It's the inability or carelessness of somebody else rights, robbing somebody else of their rights for robbing somebody of theirs is not justice, that is a textbook definition of revenge.
And rape and murder are NOT poor decisions. They are calculated and malicious.
And where does the decision to do so root from? It's the inability or carelessness of somebody else rights, robbing somebody else of their rights for robbing somebody of their is not torture, that is a textbook definition of revenge.
No, it's deterrence.
