Police warn 10 year old girl her chalk hopscotch is illegal criminal damage

The kids on my street are always doing this. The other day there was a hopscotch ladder that went up to 100. They never get told off but then again there are never any police walking around here.
And people wonder why today's youth has no respect for pigs.

The most surprising part: Its in England. With English cops. Not american.
This isnt even close to criminal damage. Get a damn bucket of water and wash it off if you dont like it
metro and Daily Mail? Hmmm... I know a lot of police officers personally and none of them would bother doing this.
But a CHILD doesn't understand this.
If a child is being told off by a police-officer for no matter what that child will take it as gospel and unquestionable truth
Children are told to believe anything a police-officer says and that they are helpful and you're giving them false information which they will believe
Come on, messing with a kid's head a little isn't going to fuck them up.
It's when police tell people off for stupid reasons that this whole silly "fuck the police" attitude comes around.
People utterly hate the cops as-is in some areas of the UK, please don't give them any more reason to.

This is a joke comment right?
you can't be serious.

Kids get their heads messed with white lies all of the time, by other kids and by their parents.

That would make life a hell of a lot easier if it were true.
I can just see this incident being a case of officers called to a scene, they leave their car, walk down the road a bit where a child is drawing hopscotch, the child looks up a bit jumpy as two police officers approach thinking they've done something wrong, and the officers react to their anxious face by saying 'Uh oh. That's a criminal offence there'.
It happens everyday. Completely innocent and my version of events has about as much first hand account information as the Daily Mail article. That paper is poison and I have no idea why it keeps getting quoted on here or anywhere else.
it looks cool as fuck to see chalk ANYTHING on anywhere
makes it colorful, no matter how shitty it looks.
This is a useful law and the police use their time to efficently.
:v:

kids actually do do this in my town now
Oh come on Facepunch.
This story is in the Daily Mail and Metro (I haven't seen it anywhere else other than this thread but I haven't looked elsewhere), but they're not always the most credible of sources.
Plus, I've done this. It's just typical police humour that was probably said while they stopped for something else.
Plus, I can't see any information in the article that's first hand, it's all from the child being passed on to the father.

True, but it doesn't.
You've done this? Thats shitty police humour and the reason people often dislike the police.
Police can't make jokes like that because often people won't question if the police are joking or not, as a member of law enforcement you should be at least smart enough to realise this.
Call the riot squad
they should fine her for making such a horrible hopscotch
I mean seriously atleast put some effort into it
What if the chalk is actually made out of cocaine and she is making the worlds longest line...
Can't do anything these days...fuck. I think I was born in the perfect time. I'll be dead before this shit gets too out of hand. We'll be like that alien planet from Star Trek TNG who had very strict laws. Everything was death penalty. So no one broke laws. I see that being our future.

I think Tony Montana beat her to it.
deserves the chair imo
Doesn't it have to be permanent to be vandalism?
looks like a drunk drew that thing :v:

I know, hence why I haven't done this exact joke. The last one I can recall was when doing a house visit, a dog ran out of the house. A man walking past at the time said 'Not scaring animals are you?', to which I replied,'Yes, but only because we can't find any children'. He laughed, the owner laughed, no issues.
I'm not saying the version of events reported in the news was defensible or appropriate, but the public want to see us humanised, and this was just a slight error of judgement.
The public always react differently to everything.
It really wouldn't surprise me of the guy was just trying to joke around with her and didn't realize how saying something like that could frighten a child. Still a bad move but I honestly can't see the cop have been serious about what he said (if he even said it.)
u avin' a giggle m8?
I think more restrictions should be placed on high capacity chalk, a law abiding citizen doesn't need so much chalk
Come on, it's not like the rain will wash it off or anything...
Illegal criminal activity? Opposed to what? Legal criminal activity?
something of the kind actually exists if you think about it

They see me drawin'
They hatin'
Patrolling, tryin' to catch me hopscotchin'
Someone should walk up to one of these cops trying to persecute little girls for drawing with chalk, and ask them if that is seriously the world they want to live in.
Well i feel safer at night now.
