who the hell cares? the way I see it, they aren't much of a hassle, and they're unnecessary. so where the "hassle"
I just type the site and use control+enter, so I don't mind the slashes
Anything that confuses the general public (people who use MSN and go on facebook/email) is fine with me.
A hassle? // Wasn't hard. Never had to use shift or anything.
The owner of the internet, all praise!
He's acting like it's a huge deal. I've never heard anyone being bothered by // and it's certainly never bothered me.
When you talk about a such big thing as the internet, small things really can make a change.
I like the // to seperate it, makes it easier
// that took me less than a second WASTED TIME I COULD HAVE HAD A GIRLFRIEND BY NOW :frown:
psh who types things before their websites.
http:google.com Just looks strange.
should've made backslashes
I prefer the way we have right now. It really fucks me off when people are like "OMG change the internet" - It's not broken, don't fix it.
I prefer utube because it's shortest!
Daddy of the internet.
The // has never annoyed me. Why would you even type in http://? Just type in www.sitehere.com and it works. [editline]06:02PM[/editline] Huh. That's a real website...
Not only is that a real website, it looks like it was created just after Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the www. :ohdear:
http:google.com Just looks strange.
Looks like http is the website and google.com is the port
www.com
It's pretty much the last bastion of idiot defense.
I don't even have to type a full web address, in chrome I can type fa, press the down key to select http://www.facepunch.com and hit enter. Then again, I can just click the link on the home screen.
I prefer the way we have right now. It really fucks me off when people are like "OMG change the internet" - It's not broken, don't fix it.
You aren't the ones who have to maintain it...
htttp://www.google.com Looks better...
htttp://www.google.com Looks better...
http, now with an extra t.
I thought CERN invented the net..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_World_Wide_Web There we go
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8306631.stm www. is more annoying because it's completely unnecessary but everyone thinks you have to type it.
http://vector.co.jp/ http://www.vector.co.jp/ I prove you wrong
I saw "World Wide Web's inventor..." from the main page and thought it was "is dead".
I thought CERN invented the net..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_World_Wide_Web There we go
This guy worked for CERN.
One day, around a year ago, I opened a website that had a link to every site on the internet. I don't type it in, I scroll down to F, navigate to Facepunch, and click.

Speaking of slashes, I can't stand it when people confuse a forward slash ( / ), with a backslash ( \ ) and say i'm the wrong one, while i'm politely trying to correct them so they don't look like a jackass the next time they make the same mistake.
http:// looks so much nicer than http: though.
