"America has no functioning democracy," Carter said Tuesday at a meeting of the "Atlantic Bridge" in Atlanta. Previously, the Democrat had been very critical of the practices of U.S. intelligence. "I think the invasion of privacy has gone too far," Carter told CNN. "And I think that is why the secrecy was excessive." Carter said, regarding the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, whose revelations were long "likely to be useful because they inform the public." Carter has repeatedly warned that the United States sharply declined due to excessive restriction of civil rights, their moral authority. Last year he wrote in an article in the "New York Times", new U.S. laws "never before seen breach our privacy by the government"
I guess Jimmy really isn't just peanuts.
He's Right
Corrupt as shit is what it is
I dunno if America not firing on all cylinders is new. Maybe all this technology and readily-available media means when shit goes south, it balloons straight into the view of millions of people in a matter of seconds. Little harder to cover up bullshit when everyone sees it for that split second, y'know?
I really don't get what the big deal is about the Snowden leak. I always just assumed the government collected tons more data than we thought. Of course this might come from my inherent distrust in all government.

It's even more embarrassing that they CAN'T get him. The dude has been practically flaunting himself too.

Instead the government is trying to legitimize it today, since it's out in the open. Assholes are rioting about Trayvon fucking Martin and not the fact that the government is systematically rendering their constitutional rights null. Great priorities.
No shit Jimbo. The government has been broken for years.
No one can work together. really, Nothings going to change unless something big happens.

I take carter's word because of his titanium balls. He's the only president to venture into the site of a nuclear accident.
Except, again, the courts and most lawyers will tell you your constitutional rights have nothing to do with this
That was not the case originally. That has been an adjustment of the law by the government in recent years to fit their agenda. It has EVERYTHING to do with it.
Except, again, the courts and most lawyers will tell you your constitutional rights have nothing to do with this
I don't get it. You guys are up in arms about this whole thing and assume you know literally everything there is to know about the whole situation, yet you call the protesters of the Trayvon trials "Traybots" and act like they are so stupid, uneducated and illogical. You're doing literally the same exact shit. You're seeing sensationalized media about this leak, and you're convinced you have all the facts and that the entire country is going down the shitter and that people need to rise up and take control. Maybe, just maybe, we need to look at all the facts and, even though you think it's corrupt and broken, the law, and see if maybe what's going on is truly as bad as you're making it out to be.
That was not the case originally. That has been an adjustment of the law by the government in recent years to fit their agenda.
I take carter's word because of his titanium balls. He's the only president to venture into the site of a nuclear accident.
Thats probably where he got them.

I think its time for another civil war
Jimmy Carter's a fucking awesome guy. Easily the best living ex-president.
I feel this video needs to get posted every time something like this happens: 4:40 & ~6:25
I think its time for another civil war
Fuck no, we don't need states splitting off and people killing eachother for stupid reasons. If the government outright starts doing powermongering shit in our own country to the point that people start objecting, the second amendment - the right to bear arms - comes into play by allowing the people to form militias so they can overthrow the government. And the soldiers would probably desert en masse if they found their friends and family protesting in such a manner, which would hopefully avoid the problem of a war among us. And I doubt such a thing would happen to begin with, because as volatile and controversial as this all seems to be, the public's fucking apathetic as hell. People are more worked up over the media's bullshit around a single man than they are about civil and human rights being openly violated on a national scale.
It's sad that Germany protested more than us.
JUSTICE FOR TRAYVON
The pains our government is going through trying to get him is just embarrassing. It's even more embarrassing that they CAN'T get him. Yes, this is good news.
I don't see why people blame the US for trying to go after him, what are they supposed to do?
Admit they were in the wrong.
Finally somebody says what we've all been thinking. Somebody with sincere authority and gravitas. Lets get down to business, how are we going to stop this thing from getting worse?
