Dozens of protesters were at Twickenham as the Pope arrived for an event called The Big Assembly. Mr Tatchell said the Pope's "harsh and intolerant" views were out of touch with British opinion. Protesters waved banners as the Pope arrived. They included three men from the gay website gaydar.com who were scantily dressed as angels. Mr Tatchell said: "We defend the right of the Pope to come to Britain and express his opinions but we also assert our right to protest against his harsh, intolerant views. "The Pope says that no woman has the moral or spiritual capability to be a priest, indeed women are banned from ordination within the Catholic Church. "The Pope says that condoms are immoral and that even a husband with HIV must not use a condom to protect his wife from infection. "The Pope also says that all gay people, even those who never have sex, who merely possess a gay inclination, possess a tendency towards evil." Another protester Ben Carey said: "I think it's important to make a statement. The Pope is not welcome in this country as a head of state. I have nothing against individual Catholics or priests." The Pope was in Twickenham to lead a gathering of nearly 4,000 young people at St Mary's University College. A series of protests against the Pope's visit has been planned by human rights campaigners.
Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11342925 There's a bunch of protests against the popes visit to the UK over the next few days: http://www.protest-the-pope.org.uk/ I'll probably be heading to the one in London on Saturday. I think it starts at 1 at Hyde Park corner/Green Park, then heads to Westminster. Then probably to the pub. I know the pope is gonna be in Hyde park on Saturday giving a prayer or summet.. Be funny if someone could get one of those dildo helicopters and do this to him: On a serious note, I bloody hope he pays for his own frikkin visit. The amount of cash the Vatican has is absurd. As for the extremism thing, yes any form of extremism can be a bad thing, but I would rather live in a society governed by atheistic extremism - where all decisions were made purely on a scientific basis of what would be best for the people, where everything was thought about objectively - then to live in an extremist religious society where all decisions were based on some false/totally unfounded/unproven sense of divine mysticism. Of course in both cases you will probably get some kind of cull of many people (which is why I said extremism can be a bad thing - and I'd rather not have either of those choices) but out of the two I'd choose the atheist one any day. It is impossible to be objective whilst talking of angels and goblins.
Atheist extremism is by far the worst thing ever to exist, everyone wouldn't give a shit about anyone but themselves which is what most atheist are like.
"Look everyone I have isolated anecdotal evidence that PROVES atheists are scum!!" I donate blood, I'm looking into other similar donations I can do, and I intend to sign up for organ donation and I'd do whatever I can to help out the folk I care about when they need help. Well done on perfecting the art of being a cunt :golfclap:

[editline]11:19AM[/editline] also, unless you accept the lord and saviour, you're going to hell anyway, so there's no point.

I know I'm not sure what he's getting at either :ohdear:

But because I'm an athiest I guess that means I'm doing it for my own personal gains or to corrupt the youth with my evil or something?
Oi, God, bring back Jean Paul II. This one's a dick.
He was one too.
Oi, God, bring back Jean Paul II. This one's a dick.
how was he better the only difference between the two was that pauly was able to distract people from how fuck of an evil fucking shithole the vatican is
How the hell does the Pope get away with saying this when he is still reaping the benefits of his Italy-Nazi acquired country?
"Most people are Athiest to all but one religion. Some just go one further."
He was one too.
He was like 12
He was like 12
the point is, times in my life ive been a nazi 0 times in the popes life hes been a nazi 1 and yet im the nazi
He wasn't a nazi, he wasn't part of the Hitler's youth. [editline]04:45PM[/editline] He worked with officers, but as a cook. [editline]04:46PM[/editline] again, you missed the point. Are you an Atheist extremist? [editline]04:48PM[/editline] These people, whom i see a lot, who say "all religion should be banned if the word god is so much as said, you'll be arrested" (actual quote btw) then yes, you are comparable to Nazism Remember, Nazism is a political ideal, not the party, not the actions, not the military, but the ideal
It's all going according to plan .
Found the perfect argument against theists (mainly Abrahamic religions though) "If I'm wrong then I'll burn in hell with you as your religion has so many laws that are unacceptable in today's society, and if your wrong, you've wasted your whole life in hope of heaven"
The pope said that priests opposed nazism and paid for their lives. Didn't a shit load of atheists do that? I'm pretty sure most people opposed on grounds of social values rather than religious ones. Fuck the pope and the whole catholic church, the religion is fine but the organization is fucked up
I fucking hate that guy.
He was like 12
Asshole, not nazi.
He's banging the nails into his own coffin hahahaha. I can't wait to see the catholic church finally die. Someone post that picture of michael jackson eating popcorn, this gon' be good

Maybe he should have avoided the n-bomb but if you go on what some people on facepunch say, there are plenty of extreme atheists who are a load of intolerant douchebags.
Maybe he should have avoided the n-bomb but if you go on what some people on facepunch say, there are plenty of extreme atheists who are a load of intolerant douchebags.
Just being intolerant is barely extreme. Blowing up buildings and hijacking planes is.

The Nazi regime tortured and slaughtered 11+ million people for minor issues. [editline]12:02AM[/editline]
Just being intolerant is barely extreme. child molestation, it's a huge difference.
Afterwards his spokesman Federico Lombardi said: "I think the Pope knows rather well what the Nazi ideology is".
Saying it's worse then killing 11 million people and starting a war that killed another 50 million people is a little bit silly.
Then how is it relevant he defended his church?
Any criminal can say another murderer is bad. Being a hypocrite doesn't alleviate your point.
oh ho ho, one to talk aren't you little mister hitler youth
To be fair, most German children back then where part of the Hitler youth.
