there's a reason people aren't doing the same thing to Paypal, XBL, Amazon, etc.
because they actually have security that makes trying to break in not worth it
Am I the only one who's not only worried about Playstation Network?
Yes.
Except Sony were storing a lot of people's details as plain text :downs:
A questionable decision but still, PSN being compromised is, at its core, not Sony's fault.
Hopefully the group that did take down PSN did it to prove a point and take a stab at Sony. I wouldn't doubt that anyway.

Why take a stab at Sony by hurting their customers?
A questionable decision but still, PSN being compromised is, at its core, not Sony's fault.
Then who's fault it is?
Yeah maybe the good old Sony will lift off the guilt and lay it on some other's shoulders. Then they get a good nights sleep.
I think this is somewhat karma
Sadly, it went and fucked over the users too

I don't know, maybe, the hackers themselves?

If it was not plain text, then we all would not be freaking the fuck out and killing cards and getting issued new ones. I have to go open a new bank account tomorrow because I have to wait 7+ days before I get my new card.
[editline]26th April 2011[/editline]
I am FULLY blaming sony on this.
The only card we had assigned to any PSN account was my mum's card to her account, and to check that we'll have to wait until the morning. If there are fraudulent charges on it though I'm definitely not going to be a happy customer
How hard can Sony be bent over and skullfucked backwards in one month? Jesus that's not even necessary.
I can't wait to figure out who did this and what their motive was.
A questionable decision but still, PSN being compromised is, at its core, not Sony's fault.
That decision is less questionable and more "What the fuck were you thinking, you're fired." And it is their fault, they cut corners and it blew up in their face and a lot of people are being inconvenienced, they should be fined, and they're going to get sued.
Who will Sony sue next for this catastrophe
Who will Sony sue next for this catastrophe
Themselves for such shitty security measures.
Except Sony were storing a lot of people's details as plain text :downs:
We don't know what happened. They may have had it encrypted or not.
For most hackers, encryption is a big red sign saying "IMPORTANT STUFF HERE!"
I pretty much removed all my card details off of everything i have an account on in the past 24 hours i never usually store it anyway but it was just a spur of the moment easy thing to do with the PSN but lesson learned never again will i do it, and lets face it sony's PR trust has literally gone down the shitter.
Jesus, all because some people wanted to put Linux on their PS3s. I truly feel sorry for Sony right now they gave me a kick-ass time on LBP and Crash Bandicoot when I was younger and its all falling apart because some people really wanted Linux on their PS3s.

Yeah seriously, people with PS3s now are getting shafted harder than having other OS removed because of this. THOSE GREEDY FUCKS!

Whoever did this knew to go for people's details, they probably planed to go for it, how to get it and where it's stored, it's not like someone hacked them on a whim and CTRL+F'd for encrypted things to see if there was anything interesting.

Sony's having a hard 2011. :smith:
Shitty thing is, I can't log in to change my password..I wonder if that hacker is going to force everyone to make new accounts.
I hope this doesn't cause the company to get bankrupt or anything I have many devices made by Sony such as my TV.
Tell your bank to cancel it and send you a new one. It's the only way (not trying to be funny, it's standard procedure when you lose a card or it gets compromised otherwise)
Well, shit. :smith:

That's my point, if someone is determined enough, they can hack into anything.
You all are getting angry at Sony but in truth if one person let along a group of people are extremely determined, they will get at what they want.
Man, who has that much internet speed to get the information of 24 million users.
I can't even change my password because the PSN is down
Before they bring it back online they fucking better reset everyone's password and email us the new one
If you could, it would probably be better not to change it, if there is like a list or some shit the hacker has access to your new pass/PSN ID could appear at the top.
