Why the hell did I get dumbs? If sony was a lot more chill about the hacking scene they wouldn't have been attacked so bad.
Because you're dumb and obviously incapable of realising that it's the 60 million innocent PSN users that have really been fucked over.
Even if you entered your credit card info, as long as you didn't let them hold onto it to make your next checkout easier you're fine.
Which I and millions of others have, it's the default option which is BS.
And this, is why you don't fuck with people who want to run Linux on everything.
No, this is why you should always practice good security. The fact that Sony denied otherOS is probably not why this happened, this was probably done by someone who wanted CFW, not Linux, just so they could pirate easily. Hence why they wanted access to the developers PSN, which lead to the mass data stealing.
Welp I just canceled my credit card that was going to expire in a month anyway, now to wait 3 weeks for a new one and so help me god if there are any steam sales.
This really blows, I don't care if the hackers did it to get revenge or some bullshit, hurting innocent customers like this crosses the line.
Why the hell did I get dumbs? If sony was a lot more chill about the hacking scene they wouldn't have been attacked so bad.
Because:
A) Most people don't give a fuck about Geohot and support Sony, as seen by the fact that Operation Sony was a miserable failure.
B) MILLIONS of people are being fucked over by whoever did this.
C) Even if we did support Geohot for the most part, you go after the executives, not unrelated customers and developers.
Even if you entered your credit card info, as long as you didn't let them hold onto it to make your next checkout easier you're fine.
but I didnt do this :saddowns:
It's not really karma when millions of innocent users get fucked over.
God damnit I'm not talking about the innocent users, and I bet you a shit-ton of monopoly money that the hackers aren't going to do anything with the credit cards or anyones private information.
This is an attack on sony because of what they did, not some cybercrime group who wanted to steal a bunch of money.
This is exactly what karma is, and it sucks that a lot of people lost information in the process but I promise you that no ones money will be stolen, and no one's information will be sold.
EDIT:
Nothing is more detrimental to a company than the loss of trust with information, THIS IS AN ATTACK ON SONY, not on you.

How is this an attack on Sony when the ones who are most effected by the attack are the PSN users?
And I'll try to remember that last bit.

The hackers most likely won't but you know that they have released this info somewhere and those people might do something.
If they catch the guy who did it. What kind of charges would he face?
do you think that they will do anything with the information?
(identity theft and such)
The fault of this entire mess? The people who insisted on CFW and OtherOS being restored when neither have any real use at this time, or in the future.
This. While Sony is still partially at fault, it's these ridiculous hackers and script kiddies that need to be at the forefront of the blame train.
this is why i use prepaid store cards.
i got $50 in my psn wallet but no credit card info was stolen for me :smug:

Emotional distress.

An attack on Sony. Right, so why make this attack affect the user? The one they are ~fighting the power~ for? If they wanted to be taken seriously, they would drop their tools, and stand up to Sony verbally, instead of being asshats and doing shit like this.
This isn't karma, this is idiocy.

well it fucks with sony because no one will buy PSN Cards now
All my info is fake, and i also use prepaid cards. :smug:
Well this sucks dick. I've bought loads off PSN :saddowns:
Awesome, I wonder how poor their security precautions were...
This seems to be a rather bad breach of the Data Protection Act :P
Probably because they were scared that a bunch of people would cancel their accounts.
More will cancel it now that they've gotten completely fucked over, as compared to before when they only got moderately fucked over.
So i had my card signed up to my PSN account....fucking great thanks alot sony for taking almost a week to decide to fucking tell me so i can get it cancelled.
Haven't used my 360 in ages but its looking damn tempting now.
I wants me money back!

I hope they do it at my local store (UK BTW)

In no way am I justifying their actions, what they did was horrible and so on.
Taken seriously? Lets look at the group of people who've done this;
"issues 40 arrest warrants for members of Anonymous in America and that some members of the hactivist group were already arrested in the UK."
Yeah, I don't think anyone in that group is there to be taken seriously, they're just trying to prove a point; what's that point?
Don't fuck with them, and they made their point very clear.
Sony what the fuck are you doing
Someone with a lot of technical skill, subtlety and patience must have carried this out. As in anyone but Anonymous.
It wasn't anonymous.
thank god i never used credit cards, i used prepaid cards to buy stuff from the PSN.
still, im worried for my password and email, about my direction im pretty sure it wasnt the real one anyway
Pop quiz: How do you make sure your point gets across?
If I was a PS3 owner and had been affected by this, I'd be pretty pissed right now and searching for legal avenues to pursue against Sony - this sort of breach is unacceptable and is probably the result of poor security precautions and implementation on their part, did they even bother encrypting ANYTHING?
Don't most companies store info like that across several servers, so if one goes down, at least you're not completely fucked?
There are many ways they could've been protected better
Also, sort of related (this could get ugly very quickly)
