That's some Fallout shit right there.
There's a video of the dog thing on YouTube. It's creepy.
Those poor dogs.
nah it's cool they lived
Has science gone too far?
of course

This is how i post
Imagine the black market that could form from this.
Eerie stuff, those body-less dogs.

Calling it
I wonder what the rate of rejection would be?
Here's the paper : http://www.surgicalneurologyint.com/temp/SurgNeurolInt42335-1117791_030617.pdf
Also changed title from : Human head transplant surgery is finally possible to Human head transplant surgery may be possible.
Because as of now it's not possible at all.
Wouldn't this technically be considered a 'body transplant'?
If you get someone elses brain, do you get his/her memories too?
edit:
Oh wow, what a brainfart, how did I even manage that.
If you get someone elses brain, do you get his/her memories too?
... No?
They would get your body.
Looks like medical science is heading in the right direction.
This is pretty creepy, but I find it actually really, really awesome and I can see it being really useful for people who have issues with their original bodies(paralyzed and etc), like many mentioned before.
Also, what would the effects on the person's (part of)original spinal cored be in this? Couldn't it cause more problems?
An Italian neuroscientist believes he’s figured out how to do a full human head transplant. Or body transplant, depending on your perspective.
Yeah I think calling it a body transplant makes more sense.
why would you swap bodies with someone else
i'm assuming if this would ever be implemented it would be to put a paralyzed person in a dead person's healthy body
But if they were healthy..they wouldnt be dead?
Well, the bodies could have been from gunshot wounds(To the owners head?) and then stored and donated for a short time later. All the other parts would be good except the person's head.
It's kind of really strange talking about this kind of stuff by the way...
what if the body rejects the head
what if the body rejects the head
Then you're dead.
If we can develop a platform that can sustain a human head after the old body is no longer viable for sustaining the head, this could come in handy for last-minute life-saving operations to transplant the head onto some sort of life support module, kind of like that one villain in the Doctor Who 2007 Christmas Special.
Sci-fi aside, if we can actually develop a machine that can keep the head alive through nutrient and oxygen distribution, it'd allow for a whole new form of life extension, since if you're just a head, there are less things that can go wrong with your biological components, since your liver and kidneys can't fail because you have no liver or kidneys, with a dialysis mechanism doing the work, and you can't keel over from a heart attack since you'd have pumps and oxygen infusers to sustain your vascular system.
Being a head would eventually get boring, so eventually you'd need a better body, possibly a mechanical frame that moves according to your brain patterns like you'd move your original body. The earlier iterations of the bodyframe certainly wouldn't be better than one's original body, but with the appropriate advancements we could indeed have bodyframes that are not too much of a step down, as opposed to early bodyframes which would be a massive step down from the original body.
I want my brain put into a robot.

the people laughed at me when i told them i was going to become a robot
what fools they are now

note that i did want to become a robot so i could call people meatbags
