The only one that I'm ok with is the MCU and only because they started it very early (in 2008) and they are pulling it off very well.
Marvel works because they have a diverse setof characters and tones. Dr. Strange is going to feel different to The First Avenger is going to feel different to GotG.
Ghostbusters doesn't work because the base material is one film. What the hell other movies could they make in the "GBCU"? Space Ghostbusters?
Ugh a World War Z sequel... the first one was so bad and the only thing it had in common with the book was the title.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Pirates of the Caribbean 5
Spider-Man: Homecoming
All I care for in the list tbh
with Pirates being very minor on the list but I kinda want to watch the entire series in one go
Alien: Covenant
Is this new or have I just not heard anything about it?
The only one I'm interested in is GotG2. Hopefully it moves the movie's infinity stones story forward.
Sick of superhero movies
And 2017 doesn't look any better in that regard
Which original are we talking about here, the 1999 version or the 1932 version?
Well the 1999 version is just loosely based on the 1932 one, so I kind of consider them separate movies but they're both good in their own right
Well, since we're all discussing what films we're looking forward to or think shouldn't need to exist, I guess I'll share my personal opinions on the list of upcoming films. I expect to be sharing some very unpopular opinions, so hold onto your britches!
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - Pretty interested to see what they do with it. I wasn't a huge fan of the first film, but I like Chris Pratt in quirky roles, and he definitely felt at home in the first one. For me, his performance will most likely make or break it, barring the possibility the writing is god-awful or fucking amazing.
Baywatch - Not interested at all.
The Nut Job 2 - Never heard of the Nut Job, so... not interested
Pirates of the Caribbean 5 - Excited for this one. Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow is a guilty pleasure of mine, with how crazy, off-the-wall and over-the-top the films are. And yes, I even liked On Stranger Tides.
Wonder Woman - Will be keeping a close eye on this one. I don't know whose directing it, but I'm just hoping it will tone down on the Snyderisms that Batman vs Superman had. The actress has potential to be a good Wonder Woman, but the film needs both decent writing and a good director to really help her shine, I think.
The Mummy - Interested to see what they do with this. I love the Brendan Mummy films, and I love Tom Cruise. I think if anyone can take up Brendan's role in these films, it is Cruise. I am sure he will do a solid job, even if the film itself is mediocre.
World War Z 2 - I don't care what others think, I enjoyed the first World War Z. I never read the books, and have no intention to ever read the books, but I liked the film for what it was, even if it was fairly generic. Brad Pitt's character was a highlight to me, and I mostly watched for him. Not to mention, the first one has my favorite death scene in any movie ever, when the scientist slips and shoots himself on accident.
Cars 3 - I want off this crazy ride.
Kingsman 2 -Fuck. YES.
Transformers 5 - I want off this crazy ride, too.
Despicable Me 3 - I don't care what people think, Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 are some of my go-to "feel-good" films. Gru is a fun character, and the girls are just so damn adorable. The Minions are annoying, but I never found them abrasive. They're no worse than some of my cousins.
Uncharted - I thought the last Uncharted game was the last one? Ba-dum pssh.
Spider-Man: Homecoming - Never been a fan of Spiderman in the first place, never read the comics, and honestly I don't much care for this Spiderman / Peter Parker that Civil War showed off. My personal favorite Spiderman will forever be Tobey Maguire. I'll watch it if my housemates decide to take us to see it, otherwise I'll pass on it.
War for the Planet of the Apes - I've only seen the first of the new Planet of the Apes films. I want to see the others, before I see this one.
Dunkirk - If I remember correctly, this is a World War 1 film. Never been a fan of World War films, either WWI or WWII.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets - No idea what this is.
Jumanji - I'm curious to see what they'll do, without Robin Williams.
Alien: Covenant - I'm excited for this one. A lot of people didn't care for Prometheus and think Ridley Scott's washed up, but I personally really enjoyed Prometheus (having watched it 4 times on DVD now...) and love the first two Alien films (never watched Alien-Cubed or Alien Resurrection, though I intend to fix that in the coming months, since I have them on DVD).
The Emoji movie - Why won't this crazy ride let me off?
It - Never watched the original, never really cared to. Don't really care about this one, either.

Dunkirk - If I remember correctly, this is a World War 1 film. Never been a fan of World War films, either WWI or WWII.
Nope, Dunkirk is set during early WW2
They are fucking up because of their hard-on for sequels of sequels. Do something original and rake in the dosh.
Nope, Dunkirk is set during early WW2
Ah, alrighty. Thanks for clarifying that!
Doesn't change the fact I've never been interested in WW1 or WW2 films, but at least now I have its time period correct.

Nice guys and Popstar unjustly failed
What fucking lunatic decided there needed to be a third cars movie
Cars 1 was already pretty weak compared to Disney standards, Cars 2 might be the worst piece of shit they have ever released and now after that giant failure they want to try it again?
Blame merchandise sales. Despite Cars 2 receiving negative reception due to how terrible the premise was, kids still want to buy the toy cars.
Whether people like it or not, Cars merchandise is easy to profit off of because it takes little effort to create new die-cast-only characters.

Seems like they tried way too hard to make it scary
Jesus Christ that forehead. Looks as big as one of the characters foreheads from Code Lyoko :v:.
I thought Independence Day: Resurgence was an alright movie, not sure why that flopped.
Well this is depressing. And here I thought the 90's had a awful summer blockbuster cluster of bombs. Independence Day: Resurgence was alright, but that was it.
As of 2015:
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Baywatch
The Nut Job 2
Pirates of the Caribbean 5
Wonder Woman
The Mummy
World War Z 2
Cars 3
Kingsman 2
Transformers 5
Despicable Me 3
Uncharted
Spider-Man: Homecoming
War for the Planet of the Apes
Dunkirk
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
Jumanji
Alien: Covenant
The Emoji movie
It

Please don't suck. :(
And people act surprised when I say I don't feel like going to the cinema.
ooooh man Despicable Me 3, I'M READY

At least they realized the globe trotting approach was terrible and are going for a smaller, more intimate story this time. I'm skeptical, but optimistic.
So how much left before Hollywood crashes and burns?
This is a bad time for me to be a film major
actually it's shaping up to be a great time to be a player in the indie market, considering that hollywood might be going dormant again soon

Seems like they tried way too hard to make it scary
Oh what the fuck.
The entire point of the "Pennywise" form is that very young and usually flighty children can be tricked into trusting IT as it closes in for the kill. With the faded old photo 'color' scheme and the flaking makeup, he already comes off as a mundane serial killer not trying terribly hard. No one's going to see that and go "He looks nice, I'm totally NOT going to book it away from him screaming my head off for an adult."
Alien & Apes have my attention. I saw the Dunkirk teaser when I saw Suicide Squad, looks interesting. Everything else on the list is just either "meh" or "wait WHAT?"
I'm kind of curious as to whether or not they'll actually include the orgy scene in IT.
Hopefully they replace it with something else. It's just... really creepy.

They won't.
I hope war for the planet of the apes is good.

Pretty much sums it up.
Whaaat? I don't remember an orgy scene
As I recall it's in the books but not the movie adaptation, for obvious reasons.
Oh no. Another Prometheus aka "they've sent the dumbest people into space to die" movie.
