From what I've heard, Covenant would focus more on the Xenomorph and the lore surrounding it, with less focus on the themes Prometheus had, retaining only Shaw and David from it. Also apparently Blokamp can't start his Alien movie until after Ridley finishes his. So even if Covenant flops (kinda doubt it) or if it's not up to snuff in the eyes of fans, We'll still have Blokamp to fall back on for another film in the series.
I'm really hoping this remake/reboot trend ends, or at least loses steam. I wretch at the thought of a Buckaroo Banzai or Enemy Mine Remake.
Sequals and reboots. Sequals and reboots II. Sequals and reboots.

Originally I was hyped for the Buckaroo remake but since Kevin Smith thinks his latest film is actually a good idea, it's probably going to be horrific.
The original Mummy is perfectly fine, there is absolutely no need for a remake already. Why can't these shmucks just make up their own movies for once instead of rehashed reboots?

it's been 84 years since the original, wouldn't exactly call that "already"
this is a part of the silly universal movies cinematic universe thing, not a remake of the 90's movie
Well, since we're all discussing what films we're looking forward to or think shouldn't need to exist, I guess I'll share my personal opinions on the list of upcoming films. I expect to be sharing some very unpopular opinions, so hold onto your britches!

Dunkirk - If I remember correctly, this is a World War 1 film. Never been a fan of World War films, either WWI or WWII.

I think my brain just hemorrhaged, how can you not know dunkirk was WW2

There's already been a remake like 20 years ago though? Pretty sure that's what he meant. At least if it's not a remake it has the same name.

Seems like they tried way too hard to make it scary
Thought this was a Killer Klownz from Outer Space reboot at first.

It's a remake of the remake and if anyone has read anything about the synopsis of it then you know it already sounds terrible.

The art direction tricked me, but when that ship fell and rolled over that dumb blond chick that didn't know to run left or right I knew I was watching a Loony Tunes movie. The movie was terrible, looked great, but everything else was just plain dumb.
Wow, it's like movies need good scripts otherwise they suck no matter how much advertising money you spend or CGI you use.
I think the issue with Hollywood is that there's probably shitloads of good scripts out there buried underneath terrible ones and nobody has the time to read them all. Some hack the execs know recommends a script, or a good script gets butchered by execs, and then we get a shit movie with tons of production value all because no one had the balls to say the script was terrible before work got started on it. Most of my issues with a lot of the movies I hated are usually bad plot, pacing, or shitty jokes, and it's rare I see a bad movie that had a good script. Most actors tend to be passable in the roles they're in, even Suicide Squad had good casting that originally I thought was going to be a bad pick.
Maybe if they started coming up with ideas that weren't trash or movies that were properly made they'd quit having all these flops.
A good example being Deadpool, as always. It came out of nowhere being unlike every other "superhero" movie at the time, and it was super well recieved and super fucking popular.
But then Batman v Superman came out and everyone was like "lmao this is like the Avengers except shit"

As shown by Suicide Squad, a movie whose script was written in 6 weeks.
When you see movies like Nice Guys doing poorly in cinemas, you have to wonder if people are just kind of tired of going to the cinema in general? With Netflix and all these other options which are producing original TV shows that are in most cases better than movies, why bother? I haven't felt compelled to see anything in theatres this year except for Star Trek Beyond. There are a bunch of independent things I've meant to see though, but they don't go to many theatres.
The day of it being a " Movie " is a big deal is over ( since it was like that in the 90's the early 2000's ) now that we have tv shows on par with movies

It genuinely looked like a good movie but I have limited ability to spend both time, and money on all sorts of things, and with the movies racking up to 40$ for me and my girlfriend, it's just not going to happen very often.

Similar for me, I just don't care enough about Hollywood movies generally to invest 20 bucks on ticket on snacks and 20 bucks on gas (I live an hour out from nearest theatre).

bold = flop
italic = will definitely make enough to consider a sequel, or at least double its budget
underlined = not too sure on, could go either way
