Kindergarden teacher stops boys from playing with Legos in the name of 'gender equity'

Someone really needs to watch the Hjernevask series instead of projecting their own agenda on those kids

Its sexist to assume that "Space" "City building" and "Ninjas" or whatever movie adaption is sexist.
This feminist is just being sexist.
This is just a "feminist" being a sexist and punishing boys. She should lose her job.

There's plenty of Lego sets like that that are made with girls in mind. A neighbor girl I used to play with had a lego horse ranch set or something.
Some things will appeal more to boys, others will appeal more to girls. How is this bad? Aren't these people afraid they'll fuck up children's youth's by denying them things 'for equality'?

look at the lego figure to the far left, lipstick = girls back in the day.
Back in the day legos were toys to secretly give to your gay child,
my boy's a F****t he likes horses and dress up,
better put all the ranch and city block into a bucket,
throw in some ice planet and adventure set and toss all the boxes,
when friends come over tea time will have some goddamn laser chainsaws.
-homophobic dad
I think if I can refined some jokes I can get a bit.
look at the lego figure to the far left, lipstick = girls back in the day.
The heads are yellow balls with no hair and black dots for eyes. The torsos and legs have no room for breasts or any other features to indicate the figure is a woman. How else are you going to make a figure look like a girl other than going for the lipstick routine? People's butthurt over these things has never made sense to me.

I think you have a fucked up dad if you grew up like that.
I remember having days in Kindergarten where the teacher would purposely switch the "boy" and "girl" toys around. This kind of lesson is not radical or new at all

Well you should just have toys that everybody plays with... let them make their own decisions on what they like.

Girls can't like pirates? Boys can't be interested in Equestrianism?
If you guys are really interested, I've been really trying to look at what drives women and men to enter different roles with different mindsets towards each other on a grand scale. Maddox recommended that I check this out:

In it, you can see a lot of arguments and a lot of discussion about how we could have possibly been evolved for gender roles without conscious thinking. Our biology could dictate our interests.
So when I see something like this, I'm thinking that she could be getting somewhere, but the way she's going about it right now she's restricting those kids. Instead of opening everyone to both boy and girls' toys, she's restricting everyone to just the girl's toys, which is not cool and definitely not helpful for the girls either.
First off, I'm not sure if flat-out Legos (not the boxsets) are a guy-only toy, but for the sake of argument I'll roll with it. Secondly, why not just put all of the toys on rotation. Everyone can switch back and forth with guy-only toys and girl-only toys so that everyone can learn to have fun regardless of gender fixation? I don't know how she's going to eliminate that fixation by forcing girls and boys to play with girls' toys.
Third, is an important element intergender play as well? Girls playing with girls playing with toys can reinforce the mindset that these toys are girls-only and are sociable only among girls. Same thing for guys. Perhaps having everyone play with each other with everything can help her case, but she stops too short for her argument to make any sense whatsoever.

This isn't that, though, this is her arbitrarily taking toys away from boys and lying to them that they'll get to play with them ever
"I always tell the boys, ‘You're going to have a turn,'" Keller told the Review. "And I'm like, ‘Yeah, when hell freezes over' in my head."
"I tell them, ‘You'll have a turn' because I don't want them to feel bad," she said.
This is a weird way of going about it though, innit?
I mean, I kinda' hope that was taken out of context because that's an odd thing for a person to say without thinking that it's just a tad bit off color, maybe? I dunno.

I was trying to tell it as a late 80s to early 90s christian dad, usually the drunk ones were written like that.
I just think this is going to result in the boys loathing school since she's stringing them along. It's so uncool.
Part of helping kids grow up should include giving them some expectations, like say a schedule, right? Introducing them into a system? She's just lying to them.
Yes but they don't need that cause male privilege or some bullshit.
I can't believe that this is being used against kids
"And I'm like, ‘Yeah, when hell freezes over' in my head."
Holy shit you're just a sociopath and a manipulator. She belongs in hell, her cold, dead heart would freeze it over quickly.
Well you should just have toys that everybody plays with... let them make their own decisions on what they like.
Kids will just choose the toys that they see their friends playing with. When a class of 5 year olds divides itself into one group playing with boy toys and another group playing with girl toys you're essentially reinforcing the idea that boys and girls are fundamentally different types of people in very impressionable minds.
Mixing it up promotes empathy and new friendships because you're going to suddenly have boys liking the girl toys and girls liking the boy toys because they've finally got to try them.

Yes she sounds like a right nutter who managed to stumble into something that would be a good idea if anyone else in the world was in charge of it
So basically punishing them because they're not female.

Because she's female.
Because she's female.
Ugh.
It's because teachers are hard as fuck to fire.
Because she's female.
It's actually because she's a member of the feminist church and using that as a basis for her actions but whatever.

Once again, to the surprise of no one, you haven't the faintest idea of what you're talking about.
The leader of my gaming clan is a teacher in Portland, and she just had a chunk of her peers fired for failing to meet School Board expectations, and contrary to popular belief, the teacher's union doesn't have the cash to litigate more than two or three of cases.
The same thing happened twice in LA last year, and one of the most lauded teachers in the entire country summarily lost his job.
I'd say do some research, but hey, it's you.

Seems like it depends on where you are.
The California teachers union is one of the strongest civic lobbying bodies in the country, and they didn't meet much success, primarily because there was no way in hell to meet the legal fees, and that's where it matters.
If your Union has serious pockets, you can hold out long enough to get reassignment or moved to a lateral job, if they don't, you're likely hosed unless you can get a nonprofit to step in on your behalf.
this is one of the more liberal and hippy-ish areas of the pnw, even in the puget sound
that means its pretty fucking far-left at times. the islands are like that. its a piss-tiny island though, but I think this is the second time its been in the news for this shit
God damn it. Every time somebody does some stupid shit like this, people who actually are racist/sexist/homophic/etc. end up of having the protection of being able to say that PC has gone overboard (which it has... although I'm not even sure there's a clear definition of PC). But now next time a relative of mine says that Black people are criminals and are taking over our city, it'll be easier to deflect with the "stop being with the PC police" shit.
Motherfucker, is anyone sane anymore? You have Sweden giving rights to former ISIS operatives... but then you have people (including my parents, who are usually somewhat liberal) who have all of a sudden become a little racist after the Paris attack. I think this entire planet needs to tone down its emotions a lot more.
Not to be a dick or anything, but we've been over the pluralization of Lego. Please folks, stop writing LegoS. We had an sh thread about this precise matter in case you forgot :v:
Probably stepped on one and took this as an opportunity to get revenge.
I've seen that happen before a school had bags banned because a single teacher kept tripping on the straps on the floor and as a result had to have reconstruction of her arm.
Also. Why should theses kids care?
Sack her now, fucking bullshit equality my fucking arse she's got a stab against them because they're male and is dressing it up to not look that way, these kids are going to grow up believing what these teachers preach to them, and this is a person who should NOT be a teacher because she's inflicting her ( retarded ) personal beliefs on them.
Ugh.

It's near impossible to fire a teacher unless they hurt or molest a child. There's no law against being a shit teacher.

That greatly depends on where you are. Many places just move teachers around when they do a shitty job.
