Um guys the guy was involved. He was the guy asking for the nude pics in the first place.
And she accepted and provided him with them, your point?
This is fucking retarded, What next? Charge kids with rape when they (consensually) have sex?
I don't know whether or not you're kidding! This is already a thing. It's called statutory rape! I think the exact terms change from state-to-state, but the general decree is something like, if two minors knock boots, and one is at least two years older, he or she is charged with statutory rape, regardless of whether the "victim," or family thereof, chooses to press charges.
And she accepted and provided him with them, your point?
Um he was involved, duh.
well that's a first
Jahoobies is the scientific word for "bazongas."
There's no victim in this case, because the boy was smart (/mature) enough to delete the photo immediately. But there is very real danger of trauma in cases like this. The moment that picture gets in the hands of somebody less trustworthy, it might as well be game over for the sender; it only takes a day before everyone in the school district has seen what was originally an "experiment". The law arises from the very, very real risk that such a photo may reach a significantly wider audience than intended and lead to trauma for one or both parties. See: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/29546030/ns/today-parenting_and_family/t/her-teen-committed-suicide-over-sexting/#.UOpN5m8818E (Just one example that I could find in a few seconds) What I don't agree with is having the children in this case charged criminally. But to dismiss sexting as a harmless "experiment" is as stupid, if not stupider, than the charges.
Honestly, it SHOULD be completely harmless and real trauma and damage really shouldn't come from it. "Oh no a naked picture of me is going around and everyone will see it my life is over!!!", that's still not harming anyone and I am completely sure in a few months, maybe even weeks everyone would forget about it. If someone is willing to take their life over that, even if it was from the little amount of harassment caused over it, then they have much deeper psychological and emotional problems that would've committed them to do such a thing.

Drama can cause severe trauma to certain individuals. Some people are more prone to being extremely sensitive, and there is a possibility that the individual has low self-esteem (which would contribute to suicidal ideations).
"Oh no! Teens showing each-other their bodies! IF WE LET THIS HAPPEN, THEY WON'T HAVE A FUTURE IN LIFE!"
I dunno about you, dispute my age..the whole generation gap is fucking huge. Bullying over facebook, sending nude pictures over the phone and all this other bullshit was pretty unheard of when i was in middle/high schoool.
Exactly, so why should this be considered a crime and harmful if something as simple as like a break up could cause someone to do the same thing?
I could say right to privacy and all that crap, but I'd rather not. Just think for a moment what the difference is between a nude being sent around an entire school, and having a break-up. You could relate it to (in a sense) involuntary manslaughter, you do not intend for the individual to die, but it happens because of your own action.
Except it's not a crime?... Two kids were experimenting and wanted to see each other's bodies, (oh no 13 year old girl breasts shown willingly to a 14 year old boy whose probably already seen tons of porn, the horror) no one got hurt, and an overbearing mother gets two horny kids in trouble. Who's the victim in this exactly?
do that shit IN PERSON, not by recording said "experimenting" in a video file that WILL wind up on the internet.

I swear you start to forget we live in a civilization when you see the sort of shit that happens all because of someone having nudes of themselves spread around.
At least they aren't being immediately charged with felonies and forced to register as sex offenders.
This is such a strange law, a law to protect people from another law [editline]7th January 2013[/editline] although the kid who deleted it really shouldn't be charged, as he couldn't have possibly stopped himself from receiving it
although the kid who deleted it really shouldn't be charged, as he couldn't have possibly stopped himself from receiving it
He requested it.
What's wrong with teens having sex as far as they're educated about it?
What's wrong with teens having sex as far as they're educated about it?
There's no way to really know if they're educated about it. Even if you did make them take some "safe-sex course" to get a "sex license", there's a lot of things that can go wrong. STDs would probably wind up spreading pretty fast too, compared to if you just stopped teens from having sex in the first place. Plus, instead of outright charging 30 year-olds for having sex with 15 year-olds, you'd have to run a full investigation to check the validity of everyone's "sex license". There's just too much trouble involved in verifying everything, same reason a lot of places don't allow vigilantism.
Pretty sure the law is unconstitutionnal anyway so they could easily fuck the judge up.
It was the girl’s mother who later found the photo on her phone and called police.
Reminds me of how my tech-illiterate mom found my brother's phone porn stash by pressing the home button 3 times.
do that shit IN PERSON, not by recording said "experimenting" in a video file that WILL wind up on the internet.
willing to bet that the odds of this happening are pretty minuscule, not that's it's really something you can measure.
Calling the police for such an incident is rather stupid, the mother should have acted differently. A good talk between the kids and perhaps the family would be more beneficial than this. Besides now this whole incident got more media attention and it does not exactly help them out.
So many parents in this world are just children themselves, it's pathetic.
At least they aren't being immediately charged with felonies and forced to register as sex offenders.
They shouldn't be charged at all. [editline]7th January 2013[/editline]
There's no way to really know if they're educated about it.
Sure there is. Get some actual fucking education for once instead of this "tell kids not to have sex and hope it works out" that we have now. Then have places that give out free condoms. That easy. STDs and pregnancies go down.
