It's funny, I thought America was thought to be all "Herp-derp Republican", while Europe was Liberal and accepting. Now I just realize that most of Europe is just full of Muslim hating assholes and fuckers. Makes me glad I live in the U.S..
Don't know, perhaps, perhaps not. I live in Sweden and to be honest, everyone I know have nothing against immigrants; incl. me. I don't know how it is in the rest of Europe but sure.

As a Canadian (and you can relate as an American) I don't really have my own culture; unless you're aboriginal you're an immigrant. Northern Europe has a lot of great history and it's their right to be proud of it. But all of this xenophobia needs to stop. We manage to let each culture coexist peacefully here in Canada so I don't see why the Scandinavians can't do the same.

I have a culture, even though the people that are of that culture are dwindling. My grandparents were forced out of the Caucuses and into the Middle East. Eventually my parents were born in separate countries and 30 something years later got married. They then moved to the U.S. and just lived life like it is until today. But the moral of the story is, even though I was born in America and am not an immigrant, I'd rather identify myself with my culture than what country I reside in, it's the right thing to do. You should try to trace back your family and see where you end up, maybe you'll have something to call yourself other then Canadian, because without our cultural identity, we won't know who we are. Also, I'm proud of my culture because of what it's survived in the long ass time it's been on the Earth.

The vast majority of us come from elsewhere.
Then again, half of the immigrants are not from western countries. Most rapes was made by young male suspects from turkey or African countries. I never thought about that so it's a very specific group then.
you still think the majority should be punished because of the minority. you know this NEVER works, right?

But this immigration caused racial tensions to escalate. This is why after 9/11 Americans aren't racial discriminating Middle Eastern people, or at least openly, while you can judge in threads like these British are very enraged by "dem muslims!!".
Some people are so xenophobic. "Oh no, there's so many of those weird people with funny accents! I bet they're planning something!"
http://www.haaretz.com/news/international/survey-europeans-back-muslim-veil-ban-americans-oppose-1.301088 Only 28% of Americans would agree with the ban.
28% is 28% too much. Freedom of speech/expression bitch.
no it only serves to console the idiots who support the ban without providing any fundamental change (change that is not even necessary). Wanting to ban burqas is a poorly thought out reactionary action. These kinds of xenophobic reactionaries don't think about the actual consequences of the law, they just see something they don't like and say "AAA MAKE IT GO AWAY", regardless of whatever effect making it go away will have [editline]02:10PM[/editline] let me tell you what effect it will have. It is oppression. Oppression only serves to distance the oppressed (the muslims) from the oppressors (the non-muslims). Banning burqas won't help muslims to integrate, it will just create hostility and insularity
The veil isn't even in Islam, it was instituted during the Abbasid rule of the Muslim Empire, as well as all the other anti-feminist practices that came from the Bedouins too. It does nothing but to oppress women.

Telling Muslim women that they can't wear veils and that it's for their own good is oppression if I've ever seen it.
Some people are so xenophobic. "Oh no, there's so many of those weird people with funny accents! I bet they're planning something!"
They seem to think that homegrown terror somehow doesn't exist.
I have friend who is arab and he is pretty fine too. He acts like anyone should act. If all immigrants would be like him, I wouldn't have no problems. He doesn't wear anything shitty, doesn't act shitty, he is actually one of the coolest dudes I know. I wouldn't mind weirdness, But, I still don't want to see minarets and churches and that clothening in my country.

Building minarets and churchs would make it just more boring/annoying. I am already feed up with those christian churches. There are many immigrant shops/reustaurants/some other random stuff. I like those.
They seem to think that homegrown terror somehow doesn't exist.
They seem to think that banning certain clothing is fine as long as it's not clothing that they like to wear. If there was a mustard-stained 4XL anime print shirt ban facepunch would be up in arms
it has nothing to do with having the right to something relating to your religion, right? :downs:
yeah because i'm sure that female muslims love being repressed by their husbands and forced to wear veils every day

Good thing the government is here to protect them.
Look at those oppressed women it's terrible we should ban things to help them
