This is exactly why we need the ZING! rating back.
There was a zing rating? That sounds so badass. And on topic, I must say I'm a bit suprised because of the low precent of approval to the ban among the US citizens, but not really suprised from the results of the Europeans.
If 70% of the people in a country doesn't want muslims there, should muslims come to the country or not?
yes [editline]04:59PM[/editline]
Oh, just shitting our whole continent. Leave Europe European. You can have your America filled with Muslims if you, just not in Europe please.
People who are European are people who live in Europe Muslims in Europe are European
yes [editline]04:59PM[/editline] People who are European are people who live in Europe Muslims in Europe are European
Europe's geographical boundaries are so arbitrary that I'd rather define it culturally. [editline]07:05PM[/editline] Did you know that Kazakhstan is in Europe?
Exactly... Well not exactly, but I think that 'European' consists more than just location.
.
I don't agree with what the veil stands for, but nor do I agree with a ban. If a woman wants to wear it on her own free will, it's their choice and their right.
This is exactly why we need the ZING! rating back.
not really read the responses and maybe you'll learn something
Some cities in some countries are completely filled with Muslims (Mostly Turks), in some countries there are more mosques than churches, stuff like that. I'm just pointing it out.
So are you a butthurt christian then or what
I would ban it on grounds of not being able to identify who is under it, wearing a stocking on your face reveals more of your face yet if you wear it in public people assume you are about to rob someone.
What do you mean? Quite a few people are against Islam, and thus those who follow it, because of the shit in their holy book.
hardly most have a dislike of them due to a select group of extremists. I bet you that none of the people who hate Muslims/Islam have even read the Qur'an.
I would ban it on grounds of not being able to identify who is under it, wearing stockings reveals more of your face yet if you wear it in public people assume you are about to rob someone.
That's a good point honesly. IIRC such law has passed in Belgium/France?
I would ban it on grounds of not being able to identify who is under it, wearing stockings reveals more of your face yet if you wear it in public people assume you are about to rob someone.
so we should ban balaclavas, hats, sunglasses, and hoodies as well? if the answer is no then this is nothing more than Islamaphobia [editline]12:22PM[/editline]
That's a good point honesly. IIRC such law has passed in Belgium/France?
for the about 20 women who wear Burqas in Belgium lol
so we should ban balaclavas, hats, sunglasses, and hoodies as well? if the answer is no then this is nothing more than Islamaphobia
But wearing such items in many public places is already frowned upon or even banned.
But wearing such items in many public places is already frowned upon or even banned.
since when were hats, sunglasses, and hoodies banned? and how is wearing them in public frowned upon?
These aren't the same as Burqa, which covers the whole face...
I don't know much about the issue but I think the whole problem with Burqas is that when a police officer asks for a Muslim's ID they see a picture with someone wearing a Burqa, thus, they can't tell at all if it's the same person. Just one example out of many where it's needed to not wear a Burqa and Muslims don't agree to it. Again, I don't know much about it, correct me if anything is wrong.
since when were hats, sunglasses, and hoodies banned? and how is wearing them in public frowned upon?
I don't know about your country, but in the ones I've visited, taking off one's hat is a sign of respect and expected to happen inside buildings. This includes balaclavas, hats and hoodies at least. Wearing them in churches and holy places is often banned. Airports too, but I think that's more an issue of security than respect.
I think that Hijabs, burqas and niqabs shouldn't be banned. What we should try to stop, however, is religious indoktorination. No more sunday schools or Qur'an schools.
So are you a butthurt christian then or what
No, I'm an atheist, but the examples serves in favor of my argument.

Churches are private property, they can tell you to get the fuck out if you want. At the airport, you're allowing yourself to be searched by entering the premises. [editline]11:40AM[/editline]
No, I'm an atheist, but the examples serves in favor of my argument.
The example is at best irrelevant and at worse an indication that you are simply bigoted against Muslims.

At the airport, you're allowing yourself to be searched by entering the premises.
They may be privately owned, even if they're partially funded by the government (which I believe happens with many historical churches), but they're open to the public. edit: I think you should be refused service in places like schools and libraries if you refuse to be respectful.
Muslims aren't a race
There is a great deal of sociological evidence that there is a significant racial bent to anti-Muslim bigotry, but even if it wasn't that would be irrelevant because Garry says hating Muslims falls under the purview of racism bans and this is his website.
'murica is more tolerant than the EU [editline]04:47PM[/editline]
There is a great deal of sociological evidence that there is a significant racial bent to anti-Muslim bigotry, but even if it wasn't that would be irrelevant because Garry says hating Muslims falls under the purview of racism bans and this is his website.
Can we just change the racism ban to bigotry ban? I mean the racism bans rarely actually fall under the true definition of racism. It would stop users from nitpicking like that.
Still, saying bad things about Muslims isn't always Islamophobia.
The moment i tolerate those who practise islam is the moment that they develop basic human rights for women.
Still, saying bad things about Muslims isn't always Islamophobia.
How so?
They may be privately owned, even if they're partially funded by the government (which I believe happens with many historical churches), but they're open to the public.
Churches are open to the public in the same way hotels are open to the public. Anyone can go in, but you can be kicked out if you don't agree to their terms.
How so?
Phobia means an irrational and inexplicable fear, like a fear of cucumbers. Most Islamophobes are truly racists in that they hate all Muslims for no real reason, but when someone has a real reason for acting against Muslims, for example banning Burqas if there's a good reason for it, it's not Islamophobic.
When was the last time you saw a person with an issue against "Muslims" take offence to the Qur'an?
to be honest I see this all the time [editline]05:56PM[/editline]
How so?
When it's a logical argument backed up by evidence.
Phobia means an irrational and inexplicable fear, like a fear of cucumbers. It's all Islamophobia and that's that.
