Massive solar storm to hit Earth in 2012 with 'force of 100m bombs'
Hurrr, no, the sun isn't even close to nova mass, let alone super nova. It's going to expand into a huge Red Giant and engulf mercury and venus, right on up to earth, then (iirc) shrink down to a white dwarf or other end stage star
I doubt it's on the league of white dwarf status, either

:q:
My concern is what this will do to my computer hardware.
Maybe if I wrap everything in tinfoil...
Everyone's all calm now. But then the internet loses power.
It will fuck up GPS for the duration of the storm. Mayby even some telecommunications.
Nothing more. Quote me on when you drive off a cliff because your GPS didn't work.
The force of 100 Micro bombs. :v:
Just for the record. If it's strong enough to penetrate Earth's protection, it will cause much more than "no lights for a day". No electricity means: No electronic systems in airplanes, no GPS systems, no computers, nothing electronic.
I doubt this will penetrate the Earth's atmosphere. Now if it did, expect shit loads of plane crashes.

O'Haire airport will be a fuckin' battleground
oh shit
Massive shitstorm to hit Facepunch in 2010 with 'force of 100m terrible posts'
I didn't realize a wave of radiation and ionized particles could explode with the force of 100 metre bombs :downs:

μ = micro
get ur SI prefixes fixed boi
They've been talking about this for roughly 2 years.
Some VERY smart and famous astrophysicists have concluded that this would wipe out the US powergrid for a very long time.
This could be bad.
But with out power...There is no FP but....but!
:frown:
:bang:
If this does happen, I hope it's at night. I bet the sky will look really pretty.
It's not going to effect anyone in any way, quote me on this when it happens.
Micro Bombs. :v:
Or I guess it could be interpreted as 100 M bombs.

It's a well known fact that humans are rapist and killers when they don't get enough TV.
Seriously that's one of the dumbest posts I've read in a long ass time. The hospitals, yeah, that would be a problem, but just because people can't play MW2 doesn't mean they'll take the streets and shoot everyone
ugh, your fucking WATER PUMPS won't work if an EMP goes off. Nothing will work at all. Electric stoves couldn't work, life support systems couldn't work, ect. The world runs on electricity boy.
This is why we have an atmosphere.
The least we can say is that the idiots in life will likely commit suicide on this day to avoid having to deal with it and the smart people can prosper at last. Seriously, people take this shit way too seriously. The Sun has been doing this shit for HOW long?
Nothing will happen. Quote me on this when nothing happens.
I see what you did there.
Just to be on the safe side I'll have my computer shut down when this solar flare is supposed to come.
This is why we have an atmosphere.
No,This is why we have a metal based Inner core that produce our magnetic field
the last time a solar flare this big happened was the late 1859, the only electric thing people had was the telegraph, it took hours to send a small message because they were experiencing so much interference. If a solar flare that big did hit the earth everyone facing the sun would experience a massive power failure and it might actually wipe data off of countless hard drives. It would be worse than a power outage because it would actually overload the power stations and damage them. I like how everyone saw 2012 and immediately said "lol nothing will happen 2012 is myth"
Oh man, I hate Y2K, we're all going to die!
Does anyone remember how stupid that shit was? Does anyone have a rational explanation for this? No they fucking don't. Scientists everywhere have just about totally agreed that nothing would happen.
Space stations are going to get fucked so hard.
Maybe a few close-orbit satellites might fuck up, short wave might get some interference and GPS's will stop working... nothing too worrysome.

That's because hollywood was involved.
nothing will happen
scientist proved that sun can't do shit when it comes to our atmosphere other than provide heat and sunlight.
Yeah cause the aurora's never happen right? that's all just bullshit.
And for some reason the laws of magnetism doesn't apply to the solar winds striking earth right?
