your body would literally eat itself with your stomach acids
Sounds delicious
As harsh as this sounds I don't feel sorry for her.
So she tried to become a plant?
Just eat enough plants for years so your body will adapt and alter your body cells to include the function to change light into that sugar compound I forgot the name of.
Just eat enough plants for years so your body will adapt and alter your body cells to include the function to change light into that sugar compound I forgot the name of.
Can't tell if trolling or serious.
Do you know how many fucks I give over a single incident that cannot be reproduced? None, zero, nil fucks. This dumb bitch thought she was clearly able to extract energy from sunlight, despite the fact she's not a plant, and therefore in my eyes she is a dribbling mongo and humanity is better off without her.
Humans DO derive energy from the sun. Just not THAT much. And gloating like that, you almost had me thinking you were one of them Baptists.
You can't leave a car engine out in the sun, and expect it to run all fine and dandy. You're body is a molecular machine, fuckin' stuff your face if you want to live!
Plants are molecular machines as well, the only difference is Chlorophyll :v:
I- I'm sorry, but have I like, walked into the middle ages? Is there a plague going on? Do people think that someone high up is angry with us? Are the Moore's getting ready to sack our town and we're trying to appease God by depriving ourselves of things for no reason? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but even if you believe his story, I doubt that monk would be able to run much of a marathon. It seems kinda like the body functions perfectly well on meat and plants. Is there some reason to make the switch to sunlight that I'm missing?
But if your personal experience is powerful enough then anything is possible, (MY OPINION). Just check this 83 yr old guy: (as pointed out earlier) [img_thumb]http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/05/07/article-1274779-0975A150000005DC-821_468x566.jpg[/img_thumb] http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1274779/The-man-says-eaten-drunk-70-years-Why-eminent-doctors-taking-seriously.html e: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prahlad_Jani - because dailymail Note that the article points out that two separate sets of monitoring took place over 15 days, and his previous life isn't accounted for.
I don't know he looks pretty dead in the picture. And gloating like that, you almost had me thinking you were one of them Baptists.
Technically the energy we get in general all ends up coming from the sun for the most part. But this is only because the sun powers the plants, generating their energy, then they are eaten by animals, generating their energy, and we eat both, generating our energy. So really, by continuing to eat normally, you're living off the energy of the sun huzzah
This teenage boy has been meditating for years without food or drink. There are unexplained phenomena that occur with events like this, and it's unfortunate that some people believe that it's a possibility to attempt it themselves.
Humans DO derive energy from the sun. Just not THAT much. And gloating like that, you almost had me thinking you were one of them Baptists.
Technically all of the energy our body gets is from the sun, but it's through the food chain, and we don't get energy from the sun in the way she expected, our skin cells react and the sunlight changes the pigmentation through chemical breakdown but our body doesn't take that energy in any more intricate or significant way.
The problem lays here: Entropy anyone? Also, what constitutes 'Emotional' or 'Spiritual' energy? How does one quantify this? Scientific illiteracy is all this boils down to..
magic [editline]28th April 2012[/editline]
I- I'm sorry, but have I like, walked into the middle ages? Wait, Breathanarianism is real? I saw it in that one Lego Robots comic, but I didn't think it was real. Also, relevant: http://www.plasticbrickautomaton.com/comics/66.jpg Not giving image link because of length.
Natural selection at work.
My music theory class is actually the perfect example of this, The first day of class there was 65 students, There's 13 now. One by one they dropped it, a couple weeks ago there was 21
If she wanted to be "spiritually renewed" then why didn't she take up meditation? I'm really not sure about the thought process here. It just makes no sense.
Although this probably wasn't the most rational course of action, you have to admire the fact that she went through with it. It takes some extreme dedication and willpower to fast for any extended period of time. To willingly starve and dehydrate yourself to death is a feat, albeit one that can only be performed once.

To survive without water or food for that length of time would break the laws of physics.
Pretty long time ago since I went "What the hell..." by a threadtitle alone.

As Discovery Channel's commentator concluded: "After 96 hours of filming, Ram has defied modern science by continuing his meditation and remaining alive."
What was that again? Not to mention that "cheating" implies that he made any sort of claims about his abilities to go without food or water, which he hasn't. All he wants are for people to fuck off and let himself advance farther than any of us could possibly comprehend; the concept of cheating to him, in my opinion, is quite laughable.

For the body to do that, it would pretty much be saying: Laws of Thermodynamics disproven by some random man! Physicists around the world commit mass suicide.

Not moving for 96 hours, not needlessly wasting energy, not using up any extra fluids or damaging muscle or organs and forcing precious protein to be used up. Dude the whole no water for two days = death shit is a basic guideline in a survival situation where you need to be active to survive, you could easily do around 4 days without water given the right circumstances.
Well she did technically live on sunlight alone. Until she died at least.
starvation, dehydration, and sunburn to boot blech
Reminded me of Moon Palace. Except even in freaking Moon Palace the main character eats and drinks when he starts to starve.
