After spanking of teen girls, Texas school board gives official OK

Yes, school employees should be able to beat the students, makes perfect sense.
maybe you should go back to school and learn how to read
Lol.

Maybe you shouldn't be wrong.
The school called the girl's mom and she gave it the ok if that's what the girl wanted, but she did this under assumption that the rule of same-gender applied. The cross-gender spanking wasn't in effect at the time, so apparently Santos was in the wrong here but who cares apparently.
I find it really backwards that this is allowed in public schools anyway...
I don't think the parents should have the right to tell someone to beat their children.
Charge them with conspiracy to assault.
Yes, let's teach kids that if someone does something to wrong them, or something wrong in general, violence is the correct way to rectify this.
Corporal punishment is one of the ways people who attack others over the slightest provocation are made.
Well, the logic is this:
I did something. Dad got angry and spanked me. spanks hurt. hurt bad. dad spanks when angry. So what I did=bad. Bad things get dad angry.
Spanking is chosen because while it hurts, it's not enough to traumatize or do any major damage.
Paddling hurts a LOT more, so it should be used for more severe things. In here, it's an alternative to suspension, so it makes sense.
You know, there's a reason no one really looks at spanking when they talk about child abuse
I don't care, some nice good old-fashioned physical discipline, fucking kids today are spastic, they need a nice spanking.

it has
Well it is Texas and honestly fuck Texas.
i will cut you
I didn't think America could become more of a joke in my eyes, but if they still have corporal punishment, what a joke. They need to catch up and stop dragging everyone backwards.
This shit would never pass down here

Except spanking doesnt work because the kid just gets hostile usually and wants to get back at whoever spanked them, thus leading to them being a cunt more.
How can people not grasp this, being violent to a kid, only leads to bad shit. Why not actually fucking discuss with them what they did wrong and why it was bad, they're fucking people like everyone else not knuckle dragging retards for fuck sake.

Fuck you too :)

Really. Nearly everyone I know would never spank or hit their child in any way. There are better ways to punish.

Dude, it's one town, and it's in Texas. We're talking about less than 0.00001% of the country right here.

In fairness, rational conversation doesn't work as well with young children as it would with a teenager or adult. This of course doesn't justify legitimate physical or mental abuse of any kind, but it's also not as simple as just 'having a talk.' If it was that easy, everyone would do it and we wouldn't have so many idiot kids/teens walking around. Proper discipline of a child is a difficult topic and I don't think it has any one solution, especially because every child handles discipline differently.
I live in Texas, too, but while it's not common in my area, maybe it's more common in other, smaller areas? Houston is a pretty big city compared to a small town in the middle of nowhere.
Spanking might not be as bad as severe abuse, but it's still not a way to discipline students.
I go to a small school and this happens all the damn time. Luckily I've never been a victim but it's extremely common to get a spat

Not to mention it is usually not teaching children that's it's bad, just that they'll get punished for it. It's not, "I should stop, it's bad." It's, "I should stop, I'll get hit."
Corporal punishment is allowed down here in Florida but the parent has to sign a form (nobody does) and have a parent there to witness it. No teacher has ever requested corporal punishment for a student in years though since most teachers just think it's silly
All I read was "Spanking" and "Teen Girls". This thread dissapointed me. :downs:

Really? I was spanked as a child and I'm not violent in the least bit.
There's a definite difference between punishment and abuse.
I bet the Superintendent is into some very kinky things.
hope they spank them with floppy dildos...
My parents gave my school permission to spank me, but the only time I was ever called to actually get a spanking I went into the office, he picked up the paddle, then we stared at each other for a second and I just walked out.
spanking should only be allowed if the kid wants it, keep it safe and consensual.
There's a reason why this bullshit was phased out, not only is it bad for the mental health of the kids, but teachers can pretty much bully a kid they dislike with this. Fucking disgusting school, what the hell are you going Texas.

One school =/= All of Texas
Physical pain has never been a deterrence for anything.
Lol, what?
Ever hear of classical conditioning? Operant conditioning? Avoidance?
I'm not a proponent of corporal punishment but you're just wrong.
Wow, If I went to that school I'd get in trouble on purpose
One school =/= All of Texas
They shouldn't be approving any. Also I think it's fairly obvious I'm talking about the Bureaucracy in Texas, not Texans in general
My teacher talked about this in class today. He said that people were trying to make it illegal (apparently its legal in 11 states or something) but the parents are stopping it from happening. Their logic is something like, "I was hit as a kid and I turned out fine, so I think you should hit my children."

The worst part is that schools punish kids over frivolous shit as well, so this could end up being really abused and potentially damaging for the kid.
Forgive me if this sounds extreme, but are minors not people? Do they somehow not deserve the rights that make the acting of hitting them bad? Why should hitting them without recourse of any kind be acceptable simply because the person doing it is over 18, or a teacher?
