It blows my mind that you guys are critiquing this song so harshly Pharrels vocals are great on this..
I think his vocals are horrible in this, grating to listen to when he hits the higher notes.

I like how they took a risk and made a song thats different to what they normally do but it's actually really good, pretty keen for RAM
I like how they took a risk and made a song thats different to what they normally do but it's actually really good, pretty keen for RAM
its a mild and vaguely dancable song that recalls the worst of the disco age with its ambivalent playing and "soul" vocals idk it just feels unloved. i dont feel like its 2 french dudes who were strung out on noise and wanted to hear their shit in a french club so they started dubbing cassettes with their weird mixes. i feel like its a sterile pop song thats going for a cheeky nod towards a music style that no-one forgot because its already the rage anyway (seriously, the DFA is already killing the disco shit with incredible tunes): and the nile rodgers guitar part is disappointing because it doesnt have the deep awesome bebop voicing that made him so unmistakable in chic: like i know everyone'll just accuse me of being a hipster or just being an ass or whatever but this is what i genuinely feel and its a forum so deal with it idk im sure itll appeal to like the younger kids who dont have their hand deep in the cookie jar of dance music (not being condescending, no one was born knowing everything about dance music) but to people like me whove heard those disco tunes and their modern tributes it just feels like daft punk isnt trying anymore like they did with homework; and thats pretty disappointing to me because i really did love homework. or maybe its unfair to expect daft punk to blow my mind and i should just go back to digging around record stores and looking for UR vinyls
you like acid house? +respeck
united acid emirates was like the craziest and most delirious electronic record of 2010 and im so sad no-one even fucking heard it lol [editline]19th April 2013[/editline]
Get on my level.
its discovery when i honestly just didnt see what daft punk was going for anymore. like especially this one among some others on that album just feel really unloved and devoid of the b&f (blud n fury) that they had on homework
I actually prefer this to Daft Punk's older stuff, it's less repetitive and the music has more of a mellow tone.
scrub
and i dont even know what to say about this track honestly i listened to human after all once and never played it again and deleted it save for robot rock
What makes you think that?
well, take this thread, for example. I think this is the only thread in SH that was created just for a new song coming out. (at the very least, a thread like this is rare) I mean, why is this in SH? It's not news really, it's just a song. but there seems to be this phenomenon specific to Daft Punk where their fans arbitrarily attribute this almost monumental importance to the duo that really makes no sense at all, like Daft Punk is the end-all, be-all of music, the alpha and the omega, etc. I guarantee that if this thread was about Major Lazer, Tool, or Shpongle coming out with a new track, it would have been DDT'd minutes after its creation for not being in the right section from personal experience, a lot of Daft Punk fans (clearly not all) just seem to get pissy and oddly offended if someone else doesn't agree that Daft Punk are the gods of electronic music. (worse yet, music period) Daft Punk has come up in conversation with people before, and after expressing that I wasn't the biggest fan it seemed to come as a huge shock, with reactions like "You don't like Daft Punk? Whaaaat?!" I mean, I'm not a fan of Daft Punk, I'll admit it, but I can appreciate their contributions to the music scene as well as their influence on other inspiring musicians, and like I said, they're obviously talented. but I've been told not once that "Daft Punk rules" and that I should go fuck myself for thinking otherwise, and it just seems like you don't really see that kinda attitude with other fandoms. I have heard and read about the same from others as well.
RAM is an experimental album
wheres the experimental part
wheres the experimental part
idk probably the lyrics and the disco tribute? [editline]19th April 2013[/editline] like every single one of your posts in this thread have been, "oh my godddd this song sucks why aren't they stuck back in 1997 making a homework part 2???"
idk probably the lyrics and the disco tribute?
hows that experimental? thats exactly what they did on discovery [editline]19th April 2013[/editline]
like every single one of your posts in this thread have been, "oh my godddd this song sucks why aren't they stuck back in 1997 making a homework part 2???"
so what you have a problem with that? i think "why aren't they stuck back in 1997 making a homework part 2???" is a very legitimate question
I feel like this is a really good tribute to micheal jackson.
Well I for one really like it, its a nice fresh sound for me. Really looking forward to listening to the rest of the album.
its discovery when i honestly just didnt see what daft punk was going for anymore. like especially this one among some others on that album just feel really unloved and devoid of the b&f (blud n fury) that they had on homework
Call me old fashioned but get really stoned and listen to the build up. Seriously though, I don't hear that from Discovery, but I get that vibe from Human After All.
I dont understand remixes why change great songs(also bad songs but w/e)? and why make them worse?
Call me old fashioned but get really stoned and listen to the build up. Seriously though, I don't hear that from Discovery, but I get that vibe from Human After All.
ah so its like prog rock then
Daft punk thread.
well shit i never guessed
I dont understand remixes why change great songs(also bad songs but w/e)? and why make them worse?
not true a good remix can take the original song and play with it; placing it into a new light: le tigre: DFA remix:
this was pretty mediocre tbh i was expecting a lot more with all the praise daft punk gets
All this criticism is indirectly making me feel like a musical idiot with no taste for enjoying that song, even though I realize that it is quite possible for it to be unreasonably harsh instead, which is ironic for me to say, considering me usually being fairly picky about my music.

why are we posting these again half daft punk I love Daft Punk by the way, I really love house, disco house/filter house music. The groove is incredible on Get Lucky, but I just really don't feel it at all, especially with the dude's vocals.
