I find it funny how no one in this tread has mentioned the obvious use of this as a solar panel material or at the very least a solar tower material
I find it funny how no one in this tread has mentioned the obvious use of this as a solar panel material or at the very least a solar tower material
That actually makes me wonder, since it absorbs so much light, would that also mean it absorbs much more heat from things like sunlight? Because if so this guy might have a really good point. Stuff looks awesome though, I want some. Must be prohibitively expensive right now, I'd assume.
Imagine being locked in one of those soundproof rooms where the walls, ceiling and floor are coated in that stuff.
smear the floor with your poop to provide a reference point for your eyes
turn it into a green man suit [t]http://www.clipartbest.com/cliparts/jcx/E5d/jcxE5d4zi.jpeg[/t] you see that walking down the street
only problem is you wouldn't be able to see shit wearing it
this isn't your every day darkness, this is advanced darkness etc
British Scientists discover that amazing new black supermaterial is not in fact carbon nanotubes but an early access prototype for Doom 4
Since it absorbs so much light, wouldn't that mean it also gets way hotter than most, if not all, other materials that are made black? I can't even imagine that Black leather interiors in cars in summer is already hard to comprehend and my thighs have lived it
only problem is you wouldn't be able to see shit wearing it
The other problem is that nanotubes may be carcinogenic.
only problem is you wouldn't be able to see shit wearing it
u dont need to go all out, cut out a patch for the eyes obv
turn it into a green man suit [t]http://www.clipartbest.com/cliparts/jcx/E5d/jcxE5d4zi.jpeg[/t] you see that walking down the street
ninjas, literally darker than the night itself
perfect camoflage for hiding in a hole. and not much else
Night.
Night.
common misconception but unless you're in the country and the moon isn't out, nighttime visibility is actually pretty high and black tends to stick out more than grey. The most important thing about camoflage is breaking a silhouette and if you're wearing a solid black piece of clothing with no variation at all you're kind of making your silhouette even more visible.
That would be fucking kickass as jewelry.

Asked about the prospect of a little black dress, he said it would be "very expensive" – the cost of the material is one of the things he was unable to reveal.
If a "little black dress" would be very expensive then a tiny lil stone couldn't be that bad, in terms of high value jewelry cost.
Imagine having sex in that room.
Imagine having sex.
finally I can realize the potential of a cosplay of Mr. Game & Watch also the example picture is annoying because it's got a ton of JPG artifact shit in the black, plus a few spots of dust or hair or something
-heart joke snipped- Edit: For lateness..
imagine a hall way and room at the end that had been covered entirely with this shit
finally I can realize the potential of a cosplay of Mr. Game & Watch also the example picture is annoying because it's got a ton of JPG artifact shit in the black, plus a few spots of dust or hair or something
Waiter, there's a hair in my abyssal void.
If it was used to make one of Chanel's little black dresses, the wearer's head and limbs might appear to float incorporeally around a dress-shaped hole.
Someone should find a nice picture of a girl in a crowded area, photoshop the dress black and sharpen the edges!
I would buy this stuff by the pound. I want a black ghillie suit.
i swear i saw something that thing
Doesn't it loose it's effect when you look at a picture of it through a monitor though? It being the darkest object ever doesn't mean your Monitors pixels just got darker all of a sudden :v:
They need to figure out how to make black pixels on phone screens made of this shit so I don't get glare.
The problem is really the glass, though.
So we have this amazing-looking new material, and the only image we get of it is one tiny low-quality jpeg. Fantastic.
it's so black it absorbed almost all of the pixels
Imagine being locked in one of those soundproof rooms where the walls, ceiling and floor are coated in that stuff.
That sounds like an extreme sensory deprivation tank.
Imagine being locked in one of those soundproof rooms where the walls, ceiling and floor are coated in that stuff.
i would go insane and hallucinate like hell.
i would go insane and hallucinate like hell.
They should also give you a joint before you go in.
They should also give you a joint before you go in.
my brain would implode on entrance :v:
The more I look at it, the more it looks back. :tinfoil:
Planetariums should use this as the cover around the fake stars. Fuck that would create a real space/void feeling.
