somebody should make a pic out that image and zoom into it to find the Hawaiian guitar playing dude in it
perfect camoflage for hiding in a hole. and not much else
The possible military applications probably include something like masking your heat signature and shielding against laser guidance. Besides that, it might be useful to mask a vehicle's contours, even if the entire vehicle was still visible.
Some more photos:
It's like someone deleted a part of the picture with photoshop
I wanna replace my eyes with this stuff. [sp]so girls get lost in them[/sp] :quagmire:
not as black as i expected tbh, could be a bit more. [editline]15th July 2014[/editline] also what happens if you eat it?
not as black as i expected tbh, could be a bit more. [editline]15th July 2014[/editline] also what happens if you eat it?
You'll probably die.
You'll probably die.
but it's basically carbon and that's what wood is mostly comprised of, people eat paper all the time and survive. I think if you had shat an abyss, people would pay good money to see that.

[t]http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news-700/iRadio-Is-Coming-There-s-No-Doubt-About-It-Anymore-Says-Insider.png[/t] Now we can go around like this.
I'm curious if this extends more across the other spectrums, I could see this as a great IR/Thermal stealth suit.
I think you would lose all perspective of time and maybe even gravity if left for long enough. Which way would be up? Imagine if you were also covered in it as clothing?
I'm pretty sure you could have any kind of clothing as long as there was no light in the room, now imagine this: Spherical sterile room covered with this stuff, fully sound proof with a magnetic suspension system where you'd be put afloat in the middle of the room and no lights at all. All you would have left would be coming from within your own body (sound, smell, taste, etc). Probably would go crazy within 20 minutes at most.
The IR is emitted by the person due to their body temp, not reflected by it.
That's what I meant, as in the transmittance of long wave IR (thermal) through carbon nanotubes is next to nil.
Ninja condoms. . . .ball's in your court, science.
I guess we found what the walls were made of.
Stuff's apparently so black, if you stand in the same room with it, you begin hearing soft gangsta rap music.
now we can make a perfect Malevich Black Square
Should have named it Abyss Black or something cool.
Argentinium.
Imagine being locked in one of those soundproof rooms where the walls, ceiling and floor are coated in that stuff.
or you could save a load of money and just turn the lights off
Holy shit. I'm having a car coated in this shit.
Doesn't it loose it's effect when you look at a picture of it through a monitor though? It being the darkest object ever doesn't mean your Monitors pixels just got darker all of a sudden :v:
That's so deeeeeeeeeeeep. Man.
reminds me of the abyss on dark souls
Doesn't it loose it's effect when you look at a picture of it through a monitor though?
Technically, no it doesn't. We don't recept light a whole lot better than a really good camera, and our brain doesn't display it to us in much greater depth than a really good monitor displaying a high color depth image. The blackest blacks are still just generic "black" to our brain, no different than sitting in a really dark enclosed room. The reason the material looks really weird is because of the absence of any light reflectance, you can't judge the depth or surface contours of the object, it will look two dimensional from any angle, and that effect is still present in photographs on your monitor, even a camera flash wouldn't show up on this stuff
Ninja condoms. . . .ball's in your court, science.
Instant dick cancer.
Or alternatively just putting on a blindfold
Why not just turn off the lights.
Still not as black as Wesley Snipes.

Imagine being locked in one of those soundproof rooms where the walls, ceiling and floor are coated in that stuff.
See: Isolation Tank Also, rooms that absorb all sound eventually cause the person in it to go crazy
