What is wrong with US Schools? Boy who held pencil like gun suspended

I have zero tolerance for Zero Tolerance policies. They are proving to do more harm than good by holding students back and making them dumber.
zero tolerance when it comes to weapons
nigga a pencil ain't a weapon, where the hell in the world is a writing apparatus considered a weapon? prison?
If you really think about it, nearly everything on the planet can be used as a weapon of some sort.
Your hands? Punch someone.
Pen? Stab someone.
Coke bottle? Shatter it if it's glass or cut it and get sharp plastic.
In fact, I don't believe there's any physical object that CAN'T be used as a weapon.
Thank god they suspended him, someone could have gotten killed by those imagination bullets.
Mind bullets.
Zero tolerance is just code for zero common sense. "Let's ruin some kids lives over minor shit because the rules say we have to!"
I got suspended yesterday cause I let my friends prank call with my Skype account and they called a teacher at my school, he ended up calling the cops and they got my skype id and contacted the school. They know that I didn't do it but they say they must punish me for allowing it to happen. Back to school on Thursday :v:
The Suffolk school system has a "zero tolerance policy" when it comes to weapons. And, Bradshaw admits, that policy has tightened up in recent years because of widely publicized school shootings.
Poorly written rules, Zero tolerance policies and public fear. Bad combination dominating everything in government.
wow my state is great love virginia :)

Virginia is number one :)
My school had a zero tolerance weapons policy. They confiscated my fingernail clippers.
What in the bloody fuck am I gonna do with fingernail clippers?

I'm going to assume you haven't seen someone killed with fingernail clippers. It ain't pretty.
When are US schools going to actually start acting like education centers and not juvenile detention facilities?
we can imagine that a pencil is somewhat as mighty as a sword
kids don't shoot up schools with swords though
when was the last time you read about a "school swording?"

with these violent video games like Chivalry, it's only a matter of time

It's a school, not prison. I don't sit around with my last worldly possession thinking of ways to use it as a weapon. :v:
Apparently that's what schools think we do though.

You're State doesn't have a shitty website and praises itself on good government and stability..

I'm FROM VA.
On the other hand, I fought off somebody with a pencil; some jerk-ass decides he could have my money 'cos he's male and bigger than me and not as clumsy and I wasn't going to let that happen.
Anyways this isnt really related to pretending pencils are guns, so Ill shut up now.
If it was up to people like this, they'd have children on sedatives 24/7 to prevent any sort of harmful thoughs
If it was up to people like this, they'd have children on sedatives 24/7 to prevent any sort of harmful thoughs
I doubt they would limit it to children. They would also safety pad every corner of the earth, and require you to have an assistant if you get up from your chair.
I pointed my fingers as a gun, shooting my teacher, then he started shooting everyone else with the fingers. Seconds later everyone did it.
No fun allowed in the American education systems.
"pshew pshew"
and that was it
anyone notice that there are more cases like this since Sandy Hook
anyone notice that there are more cases like this since Sandy Hook
shit dude i think you're onto something...
anyone notice that there are more cases like this since Sandy Hook
Which just piles on the irony, since Adam Lanza wasn't even a student.
The zero tolerance bullshit was written into law/rules as a result of Columbine, but in the last few years it's just gone batshit insane. Used to be about being hard on people who actually brought guns and knives to school, not kids who ate their toast into a vaguely L-shape.
because pencil is a WMD in america
I use to make guns by connecting textas (spelling?) in schools.
So if I taped a pack of pencils to a pipe and carried it around outside a school, would I be charged with possessing an assault weapon?
So if I taped a pack of pencils to a pipe and carried it around outside a school, would I be charged with possessing an assault weapon?
Nope, you'd be charged with terrorism and possession of a WMD and go to federal prison for the rest of your life.
I used to do this all the time in elementary wtf.
I think I just died inside
TONIGHT, ON FUTURE WEAPONS, I WHISPER MENANCINGLY NEXT TO THE GUN OF CHOICE FOR TERROR: THE P3N61-L MK1, WHILE JUST A REGULAR ITEM USED TO WRITE FOR MANY PEOPLE, WHEN PUT TOGETHER WITH GUN SOUNDS, ITS A HIGHLY LETHAL WEAPON OF MASS MURDER.
THE PENCIL IS MIGHTIER THAN AMERICA...
But.... What exactly is suspending the kid gonna help with? I feel like taking the kid to school and when denied entrance, just saying "uhm no, my kid isn't gonna lose any school days over bullshit, thats not really gonna happen so.... Yeah."

Pre-cog police, jokingly thinking about killing someone or holding something menancing? No trial for lil Sally mam, she goes straight into the "storage"
