Artificial Memories you say?
Memory modding sounds a bit closer now. Perhaps Total Recall wasn't completely inaccurate? Well, the memory modding part at least. The rest is definitely a bit too beyond currently.
Isn't this kinda what the C-Consciousness in stalker were trying to do? By removing certain things from people such as anger and such.
You can have a cat that thought it was a walrus but then turned into a cat, I think.
Cats don't have that level of consciousness.
Peta only cares about animals :colbert:
They started crying when Obama ninja-swatted a fly
I can imagine myself 50 years in the future reading a book and someone calls me old because no one reads, they just get memory implants.
What god? and even if there was a god, So fucking what?
can people shut up about their non-beliefs for one second?
can people shut up about their non-beliefs for one second?
Non-beliefs? How is not believing there's a god a non belief? You still believe something...
why fruit flies?
why fruit flies?
Because they're a rather simple organism. That and nobody but P.E.T.A. cares about fruit flies.
ohhh. makes sense.
I hope we never get to the point where we can add false memories to people.
I hate to say it, but it is possible to inject false memories into people. The process, however, is completely different than the one listed in the article.
Holy shit this is amazing. It scares me actually. All this advancement recently, i mean we almost are playing god here. Makes you think how it will be abused. You know it will be.
Nothing else is playing god, so why not us
Does this mean we'll be able to implement piano lessons into my head? WAIT, does this mean we'll be able to implement piano lessons into ANIMAL'S heads!? This might one day be reality... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J---aiyznGQ
I hope we never get to the point where we can add false memories to people.
It's likely that we will

Interesting how dopamine works in reverse for the fruitfly. I get an image of an unimaginablly insane, paranoid, instinct-crazed, tiny robot.

If theres ever a zombie outbrakes we can get are friends back!.... Oh right the brain cell loss would be ...... Now i relise why a cure is retarted.....
yeah that was funny [editline]11:59PM[/editline] rate me agree if you thought it was funny
I thought it was a fucking joke when I first heard about it. A fly. Jesus christ. The lowest form of life there could possibly be. Plus they have the lifespan of like a week? Or was it even less?
We're living in the future. Almost.
So.. we can implant memories into an animal that it remembers speaking, and the english language and such? Of course this animal would have to be on with vocal cords.
This line of research, can not do any good for anyone :|
If theres ever a zombie outbrakes we can get are friends back!.... Oh right the brain cell loss would be ...... Now i relise why a cure is retarted.....
that's why we have artificial intelligence, which i read in popular science will be become reality (like iRobot reality) in the next 50 years. so when there is a zombie outbreak we can just upload people memories into a machine and have them run on artificial intelligence. great idea i know i should be a scientist. Great, I'll be done with school, and then some kid that downloaded knowledge will be able to beat my degree. This could really screw some stuff up...
For SCIENCE!!! :science:
When I saw I had this thread open in a tab, I laughed because I didn't remember opening it.
The gap between rich and poor widens
Yea but in death it evens out so it's ok.
I don't think we'll ever get to the point of this overtaking the learning process, but is might be a nice tool for some torture techniques. Just imagine you're strapped to a chair, then the guy torturing you flashes a camera and pure, unimaginable terror surges through you for seemingly no reason. I'd give up anything to stop that.
