well if its named Senkaku, that doesn't sound very chinese now does it? Also, huge riots over a piece of land in China. No significant riots over freedom of speech or the firewall blocking in china
China's government is full of assholes, but they aren't stupid They made an exception to their "no protests" rule because the populace is just repeating what they were fed I highly doubt that they'll even make sanctions [editline]16th September 2012[/editline]
well if its named Senkaku, that doesn't sound very chinese now does it?
The Chinese call it the Diaoyu Islands [editline]16th September 2012[/editline]
Also, huge riots over a piece of land in China. The protestors want a war with Japan, but China's government isn't stupid enough to attack a U.S. ally.
The protestors want a war with Japan, but China's government isn't stupid enough to attack a U.S. ally.
And they're not stupid enough to attack their main import and second largest export partner.
And it's closer to Taiwan
Which is irrelevant to China because China considers Taiwan it's territory. So with that argument, China will take that as "It's closer to China".
I am ashamed to be a Chinese right now, they're using the name of "Boycott of Japanese goods" to riot, loot and destroy any "Japanese" store they found. Right now, looting is legal as long as it is "Japanese" and you have something like a China flag on you. These people also posted what they've got from these stores to the Internet, it's just wrong, so wrong.
[editline]16th September 2012[/editline] Legally it belongs to Japan so it's theirs China's just butthurt because of the whole WW2 thing
Lol yeah have your country forcefully occupied as your people are slaughtered and subjected to inhumane experiments only to have the war end with the aggressor refusing to admit said atrocities even occurred. Just get over it.
Japan could play nice and admit to what they did in WW2 but it wouldn't change a damn thing
I'd considerably help in fixing anti-Japanese sentiment that the Chinese citizenry have. People hold collective grudges longer then you realize. The legal rights are kinda murky anyway; China claims they've had a right to it extending hundreds of years, yet Japan colonized it during the 1880s and further purchased it during the 1930s. China at the time really was in no shape to dispute the claim, especially during the 1930s when they were being occupied by Japan.

The Red Scare? You and I might have, given that we're in a liberal forum But if you pick a middle aged white guy off the street, what do you think he'll say?

The anti-Japanese sentiment is far too useful to the Chinese government in making these outrageous territorial claims. You honestly think China cares about those atrocities still? There's barely anyone left who would remember them. It's just a political tool now. It would be like Mexico being belligerent to the US due to its loss in the Mexican-American War.
Oh you would think Chinese people would have forgotten the war with Japan years ago, but no they didn't. They still make soap operas set on that time, and those old movies showing the triumphant chinese side against the japanese are always around. There's people that are over it, but others that still hold a grudge [editline]16th September 2012[/editline]
The Chinese call it the Diaoyu Islands
that name is just plain awful then

In my eyes it's like a "Chinese holocaust", except the Japanese never apologized. Edit: Holocaust may be the wrong word, but you get what I mean.

Fuck both of them, give it to me.
Why fight over a stupid island? And how come no Chinese or Japanese billionaires go buy the island itself for their own private property
A Japanese billionaire did own the islands, and the government bought them a week or two ago
island belongs to HK
belongs to me fuck off
And they're not stupid enough to attack their main import and second largest export partner.
China is enought self-sufficient anyway with enought economical power to make entire nations crumble by simply cutting it's trading ties to them. *edit* but its true
http://imgur.com/a/Y7oIp Great album of pictures from the protests in China.
NATO armada on the coast of Iran as Israel prepares to attack, Chinese people foaming about Japan and their government sending military boats to patrol disputed island. Golly if things aren't escalating quickly for the year 2012
Give it to Vietnam just to screw both of them over :v:
Give it to North Korea.
Give it to North Korea.
Even better Give it to [sp]Canada[/sp]
http://imgur.com/a/Y7oIp Great album of pictures from the protests in China.
Holy fuck are you kidding me. I had no idea this has escalated that far. Wow...
Holy fuck are you kidding me. I had no idea this has escalated that far. Wow...
Pictures of people that need to get over it
I was going to make a comment on how some quabble with the islands was justifiable in peaceful protests due to how both countries have treated each other historically over the past century but then i saw the pictures lol what
they should raffle it
I don't really see any benefit in destroying their own properties. Like, one thing is to destroy a japanese store, another thing is to flip japanese cars from chinese people and not serve japanese people. These are the effects of extreme patriotism
They're trying to one-up Britain and Argentina by fighting over an even smaller island
