Look above. It's so much cheaper.
Pirating it is way cheaper, but you don't see pirates complaining when their key gets banned. I bought it from steam like I thought everybody else on this forum did but obviously not.

The difference is, these keys are legit, just bought from asia where game is much cheaper. Now they ban these keys to cash more from people.
This all sucks ass, the gaming industry is becoming equal to the music industry - money, money, money.
I'm not boycotting MW2, I'm just not buying it or playing it.
If you aren't buying it or going to play it anyway then why are you complaining that illegitimate keys have been banned?

I can kinda see the 'legalness' in that, but it's the same as a European getting an American to gift them a cheap game on steam and then sending the money via paypal, it's just not allowed by the publisher. When digital distribution wasn't around, you only ever bought games from your OWN country, you can't just pick which country to buy it from because it's cheaper.
Why are people arguing about this? You bought the game in a non-legit way, you have to suffer the consequences. It isn't hard to buy the game from a retailer or on Steam, so stop moaning.
I'm sorry what
There is nothing nowhere noting that you can't use keys from other regions. Nothing.
You'd think the system would just deny using the wrong serial, nope, accepted and forever registered to your account. Then removed. Which changes nothing for the retailer who sold those grey-matter games, but really just fucks over those who bought it that way.
I can be thankful that my LEGITIMATE SERIAL is still accepted. And even if I get it removed, there's absolutely no fucking way in hell that I'm rebuying it, especially over steam.
If you aren't buying it or going to play it anyway then why are you complaining that illegitimate keys have been banned?
Cause this is a reason for why I'm not getting it.

No, you aren't allowed to get users from cheaper regions to gift you games in exchange for money on paypal on steam.

No, it's a reason for you not to get it from some asian key market
Probably because this "non legit" way is cheaper and worth more than the full priced game.
I think I saw the game for sale in Tesco's for 24 pounds.
Hardly expensive.

Actually, those are actual resellers. They give you serials. Which means they buy games from a local distributor or an actual seller. Using latter is more likely, however bigger sites could just buy game boxes directly from a nearby distributor. In which case it would mean it's the same as going up to them and buying the box out of country - except you're not really there, but they can't verify that, unless they check what serials went to which distributers and just banning every serial that they sold - and that would most likely be against the law.
If Activison wasn't a bunch of cunts they could just make a uniform price everywhere and they wouldn't have to deal with this crap. If they used the same price for every region on steam, this would never happen and they would probably sell more copies over steam - which is much more profitable than buying the box from the store.
Someone call Gabe and tell him to slap those cunts
I'm getting so butt hurt over all this shit over MW2....
They should give the people with banned keys have like 10% off. Because that blows to buy a real key and get fucked over.

By that logic, caught pirates should have 50% off
By that logic, caught pirates should have 50% off
A key was LEGIT. You could activate it on steam and play legally. But pirates didn't pay anything, they never had any legit keys.
Im starting to hate Activision more and more every day. First no dedicated servers now this? WHAT HAVE YOU GOT AGAINST PC GAMERS KOTICK?
Buying MW2 from steam is also virtual, you dont get a box.
Rate me box if you agree.
I don't even get it, HOW does Activision loose money with this?
People buy copies of the game in bulk --> sell keys cheaply on the internet
Activision still gets their money...

Let's see, if from Asia keys cost ~10 dollars, and people sell it for ~20 dollars, it's cheaper than keys/boxes in eu/us where they cost 60 Eur/usd
They don't lose, but they gain more this way
People were illegally buying and selling games and they got caught, and those keys are no longer valid. Why is this shocking?

Publishers don't get a say in where I decide to buy my games.

Actually as you see, they do.
And stop trying to defend a corporation you tool.
And stop trying to defend a corporation you tool.
I'm not trying to defend anyone, I just say how it is.
It was meant to be an automerge but you got in the way.
Then edit the post rather than making a new one next time.
Actually as you see, they do.
Actually no, they don't.
The internet is an amazing thing see.

How about no.
[editline]01:40PM[/editline]
Definitely no.

Oh look there I go again.

If no, then how come they actually banned these keys?
If no, then how come they actually banned these keys?
This was banning of keys which were sold from non-physical resellers.
Activision isn't saying "You can't buy your games from asia", they're saying "You can't buy CD-Keys in Asia".
If you bought a physical copy in Asia and then brought it back, I doubt there would be a problem.

There is, you can't activate russian and some asian keys, if this continues, valve will add those regions, and soon you can activate only keys from your country.
If MW2 had the same price as other games in Thailand, I'd buy it.
It's 4 times the price of L4D2. What the fuck.
Now Kotick is probably going to keep the price $60 until like next year
The sole reason I haven't bought MW4 is because they're still charging 40 fucking dollars for it almost a year (2 years?) after release.
