• Nondrinkers May Have Higher Mortality Risk Than Light Drinkers, but Reasons for Abstaining Make a Bi

Been cheated on while the girl was under the influence of alcohol. Kind of ruined alcohol for me. Never want to drink.
Alcohol is up to the person who drinks it to be responsible. Hearing the hundreds of cases where alcohol impedes logic and makes men and women take awful decisions sort of caused me to take a light-hearted approach to alcohol, never drinking enough to impede my decision making ability. There's too much of a taboo to drink frivolously, which is rightful deserved.

Time to fix a drink for me. You want some? (User was banned for this post ("Reaction image reply, third time" - Orkel))
I'm currently half-way through taking a month off alcohol to help me kick start a diet, and I was vaguely surprised how little I've missed it. Haven't even been tempted despite the fact I've had a bottle of cider in the fridge throughout the whole thing. That said, I am still looking forward to having a cool pint of cider come the end of the month - there's nothing quite like kicking back with your mates for a few pints in the pub garden when it's lovely summer's day.
Wow, Facepunch is a dry dry place.
"I'm going to die anyway" is pretty shit logic unless you're well into your 90's.
No it isn't? Accidents don't happen in your world model? Everyone dies. Being so scared of dying you avoid sources of fun in your life seems stupid to me. [editline]19th July 2013[/editline]
because it's entirely impossible to have fun when you're not under the influence of a drug.
It totally isn't. But that doesn't change that some people want to, and to them, that small loss at the end of their life, is acceptable.
Been cheated on while the girl was under the influence of alcohol. Kind of ruined alcohol for me. Never want to drink.
Ahhh, the most gullible cheating excuse wins again.
Wow, Facepunch is a dry dry place.
they look at cigarettes from the same high horse but somehow give soda a pass
they look at cigarettes from the same high horse but somehow give soda a pass
Most likely, quite a few out of the people who vehemently hate alcohol on Facepunch also happen to never go outside, so they use their involuntary abstinence to their advantage to seem morally superior. This is coupled with the fact that they continue to consume and live in a pretty unhealthy manner regardless. There's probably also individuals who tasted liquor and probably went "omg this tastes nasty never drinking alcohol again!" This isn't everyone's case as some do have legitimate personal reasons (i.e. family history), but for a demographic of social shut-ins, it's hard to imagine most voluntary choose to not drink.
my mother is a real douchebag when it comes to alcohol
because it's entirely impossible to have fun when you're not under the influence of a drug.
I didn't suggest that at all. I said that I get enjoyment from drinking sometimes. If that shortens my life somewhat, then that's fine.
EVERYTHING mostly is good moderation, if not super good.
i love drinking tbh.
Well duh, you'd die if you didn't drink! [sub][sub][sub][sub][sub]/s[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]
I've never liked the taste of Alcohol myself. I'm also not a fan of any substance which inhibits my ability to think rationally.
I've never liked the taste of Alcohol myself. I'm also not a fan of any substance which inhibits my ability to think rationally.
You act as if drinking/smoking will ruin your life and brain forever.
drinking with some pals can be fun, but we only do so rarely alongside not wanting to become alcoholics like some of our other friends, we also don't like spending money on consumables that we can't get at the dining hall

I won't drink. Not because it's "morally superior" or "I'm better than them". You can drink to wretched excess for all I care, so long as you aren't harming someone else. The main reason is because of how much Alcoholism has tortured my family. I won't touch it because I don't want to end up like some of my relatives. Doesn't mean I'm gonna be a dick and stop you from enjoying yourself.
being drunk is pretty fun though
I was once so drunk I asked my mum to put my pyjamas on for me
I am possibly allergic to something in alcohol, I get severe allergic reactions. [editline]19th July 2013[/editline] :(
they look at cigarettes from the same high horse but somehow give soda a pass
I mean I really don't enjoy the smell of smoke, and everyone who comes over that does I at least ask if they'll go outside. I don't know how many people care that others smoke, but if I don't like what it does to my house that's my own will dude. [editline]19th July 2013[/editline] Also I don't know why this is divulging in to Saturday night drinking discussion. It's perfectly alright to drink as much as you want, and as little as you want, but there are risks, and people who accept these risks you probably shouldn't look down on them for doing something they enjoy, e.g. smoking.

I think I'll go out drinking with a couple of friends and after they place their orders I'll just ask for chocolate milk Now if only I had friends to go out drinking with...
It's funny, my cousin's grandfather only drank on formal occasions, he died of stomch cancer, my nan's 71 and she'll go through 2 slabs of VB a week. (slabs are a 24 pack of cans or stubbies)
I used to be like alot of people in this thread, completely against alcohol. Then I was introduced to the magical world of alcopops "It's like I'm drinking a soda, but it's 4.5% alcohol." Then I realized you look like pretty optimistic if you're constantly drinking Bacardi Breezers.
I drink spirits (Especially scotch and coke), beer is disgusting. I drink at the Footy/going out with friends since I don't have any at home.
Why is it that some people in this thread seem to be interpreting "I don't drink" as "I fucking hate all those retards who drink!"?
