He doesn't have to keep defending Trump, He's not Sean Spicer. Although I haven't seen him defend him in a while, at least when it comes to specific parts of trump policy.

This trip is going to be great because he's going to try his best to get away from everything crashing down around him and it's going to affect his game and make him even crazier then he's going to come back on monday and things are going to be even worse for him. Maybe Flynn will make a deal to escape the heavy treason charges

Israel shared extremely sensitive details of their intelligence operations against ISIS with elements of America's intelligence community with the explicit agreement that it would be kept secret from allies and even the rest of the US government. Trump blabbed it to the Russian ambassador and Russian state media without even knowing who gave the US the info. Now the Israelis know they can't trust America with their secrets, and America's war on ISIS is going to suffer. It's a good thing Trump never promised to have a plan for eliminating ISIS in six months...
As for why they can't be friends, ask Crimea.

Israel provided that info on the condition that we wouldn't tell anyone else. Trump however opened his mouth and told Russia, which was against the agreement. Now if we can't be trusted to keep secrets, nobody is going to share them with us.
And we tried to work with Russia. Obama met with Putin several times and the relations between our countries actually improved. Then they decided to invade Crimea and we called them out on their shit.
Then there was the passenger jet that was shot down. Oh and then the whole Syria thing happened. Point being, we tried to be friends, and they decided to fuck it up instead.
