He's not justifying it, he's merely pointing out that both sides were doing horrific things.
no shit does that make it any better or some how justify it?
I really wonder how they're going to clean this up. By now, most of the rainbow agents are deep within the water table.
no shit does that make it any better or some how justify it?
What?
IWhat?
what is the fucking point when you say "oh well the other side was doing it too!" I can't think of any other point than that you're trying to downplay it and act like it's not as bad just because someone else was doing it too [editline]19th June 2011[/editline]
Also, don't even try to say that the United States was entirely at fault here, the Viet-cong gave handgrenades to children to use them as suicide bombs.
how is that relevant to the US's use of agent orange it was entirely their fault for using it when they knew it was dangerous to people
Not that, this:
What was that dude high. Theirs plenty of Vietnam games.

The First thing i thought of when i read the title was TheAnnoyingOrange.
Not that, this:
the best battlefield game imo the soundtrack was fucking stellar. playing surfin bird while airlifting a chopper full of teammates to a different island was badass.
They didn't do that, but remember all that shit in CoD:WaW that the Japanese did? The vietcong did the same - and worse.
Worse than unit 731? That's quite hard to believe...
BFV > BC2: V Bad Company 2: Vietnam was such a bummer for me. Fun but didn't meet my expectations.
it was still better to me, I still consider the original vietnam to be the worst of the battlefields. BC2:V didnt meet my expectations though.
spray anti-herbicide. It could be Agent Blue so it matches agent orange.
Actually, Agent Blue is also a very powerful herbicide used in the Vietnam jungles.
Sounds like someone used chemical warfare despite condemning it at every chance they get... lol
Sounds like someone used chemical warfare despite condemning it at every chance they get... lol
I don't think they used it as a weapon though. The US didn't care about the long-term side-effects and that's what we're seeing now.
it was still better to me, I still consider the original vietnam to be the worst of the battlefields. BC2:V didnt meet my expectations though.
Best BF game was 1942, for me, the second best would probably be 2142, if only just for Titan mode.
It makes people go all derp derp.
There is something that confuses me to a degree: Doesn't Agent Orange have a relatively short period of decomposition? How long does it reside in it's environment before falling apart into the basic elements that it's composed of? If not, is there a relatively harmless compound that could break the chemical bonds of Agent Orange, effectively rendering it safe?

I don't think there are any chemicals that break down dioxins. Most of the cleanup in Vietnam is either securing contaminated soil in landfills, or using thermal desorption to break them down http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_desorption
Not that, this:
One of my favorite games. I have fond memories of diving into a bush as an enemy tank drives by with it's radio blasting The Doors.
One of my favorite games. I have fond memories of diving into a bush as an enemy tank drives by with it's radio blasting The Doors.
I didn't think there were any Doors songs in BF:V
But at the time, they knew entirely that it was extremely dangerous to people
The CIA, not the people actually using the stuff. Its like blaming all the Germans for concentration camps when it was the SS who ran them :v:
But at the time, they knew entirely that it was extremely dangerous to people
Actually we didn't know until about the late 60's. We also used it in a small community up in Canada which showed no sign of deformation until about the 2nd Generation of children. Agent Orange is fucked up, don't get me wrong... But we had no idea it caused harm to people until pilots, and captured VC began growing tumors, and shit.
I think you need to remember this: It was quite hard for them to fight adults with downs syndrome (Also known as Vietdowns/Vietcong) with weird delusions of grandeur when they are hiding in plants. If Agent Orange wasn't sprayed, US casualties would probably have been much higher from Vietdowns ambushes. Not that I support the idea of the Capitalist States of America getting involved in the affairs of independent nations, like Afghanistan. The reason the US went to Vietnam was so they could flood the place with McDonald's joints and turn it into a despicable capitalist nation filled with poor middle class people, and rich high class people ruling, like them. I mean, both sides were shitheads during the war, the Vietdowns and NVA intentionally killed civilians for "supporting imperialist pigs" just because they lived in US occupied territory, and the US didn't give a shit how much they tore the country into pieces/destroyed the place, as proven by Agent Orange, and their massive use of Napalm.

The US government started the Vietnam war because they didn't want communism to be the mainstay in Vietnam because it would mean, in their minds, that slowly but surely all of Asia and obviously Russia would be communist states and back then it was "Democracy vs. Communism" and it's a pretty big deal to the US if all of Asia is united under one "ideal". Like most wars against insurgents, the US went in underestimating how much a cluster fuck the whole war would be, thinking it would be a minor conflict that would only last a couple years at the most. Instead it turned into the worst war the US had dealt with. All this however had nothing to do with McDonalds or imperialist/capitalists. The point of the Vietnam war wasn't to establish class systems similar to the US. The whole point of the war was the the US was flipping it's proverbial shit over whether or not the same thing was going to happen to the west that happened to the Nazis, and doing everything they could to stop Russia and communism as an ideal and a unifier of nations from becoming a super power large enough to take over the west. The US government wouldn't benefit from McDonalds or capitalist systems in Vietnam, they benefited from installing a Democratic system in a country they were very concerned would be the tipping point for communist domination of Asia.
Actually this post hits home as my Uncle who served in the Rangers in Vietnam got exposed to Agent Orange and has been quite sick over his whole life because of it, eventually losing his teeth because of it.

Funny thing actually, of all the people I've ever asked, not a whole lot actually knew why the Vietnam War happened in the first place :\
too little too late, but its good we're at least doing something, considering the fucking travesty that is agent orange [editline]19th June 2011[/editline]
It makes people go all derp derp.
hahahaha its funny because shes going to die at a young age because she was deformed early in her life of poverty thanks to the use of biological warfare by the united states in a war that was completely unnecessary wow man good one that really cracked me up
Just updated my first post to make my opinion more clear.
