Good lord don't even, you're only gonna start a shit storm.
Back on topic, that's pretty cool really makes you think.
The highest form of anything an idea in science can become is a theory...not even a fact
hnnnnng
You don't know what a theory is when referring to science.
A theory is a framework of facts found by scientists that explains the current phenomena (such as evolution, gravity etc) that is regarded as and found to be true.
I can't stand when people say 'hurr durr it's just a theory it's not true!!!!'
A theory is based on facts.
thats nice, what does it matter though?
I don't understand, if the earth was a big ball of molten lava then how can something so hot and dry form other things like water and foliage? It doesn't make sense to me.

Indeed it is and I agree, but theories tend to break down at the extremes and that is why they cannot be taken as fact.

Not a troll, I'm being serious. I don't understand how something goes from being a molten lava ball into something containing life, water, trees ect. It doesn't make any logic sense to me.

Things cool down, you know.
Things cool down, you know.
Yeah but how? Would some care to explain to me with proper detail on how it changed from a lava ball to this?

Go back to school, please, you seem to have failed it.

Radiation.
There is no atmosphere in space obviously so standard methods of losing heat don't work so the only thing open to the earth is to slowly bleed the heat away as radiation, over billions of years the earth cools.
The earth went through a phase known as the Late Heavy Bombardment where it was pounded by comets, asteroids and fuck even another planet, this collision gave us the moon.
These comets also brought carbon, water and other materials to earth, this allowed an atmosphere to form around the earth and that meant weather systems.
As the earth further cooled the surface became solid, and as it again cooled liquid water was able to form. Well actually, to begin with it was more of a poisonous metallic soupy liquid with water as the base substance.
Over time some processes we aren't entirely sure about cause life to arise.
The single celled prokaryotic life began to metabolise the atmosphere which we believe was mainly carbon dioxide based, and as a result they released oxygen.
This was poisonous to the prokaryotes so some died out, theres still a massive amount though so it's all good, the ones left were more resistant to oxygen.
Anyway, this new more oxygen abundant atmosphere was good for life, it allowed stronger, eukaryotic life to appear, these cells can metabolise far faster and more efficiently as they could synthesise glucose and similar complex substances easily like ATP and ADP.
They were able to adapt more proficiently in their time and make use of the oxygen atmosphere and exploded into more complex life because of this.
Then enviroment was further changed due to this new life.
Bam, asteroid hits and ice ages and general extinction level events happen over and over and life generally gets a bit of shit from space and mother earth every now and again.
Also the bit at the start, the earth is still radiating heat, it means at some point the earth will solidfy all the way from the surface to the core and will freeze solid like Mars, fun times ahead! :v:
Page King!!! :synpa:
History seems to be rebuilt everyday, So many discoveries found, and so many more discoveries to...uh, Discover.

School never told us how molten lava turned into a living sphere it taught us proper things that would help us in later life. And if you say evolution then please care to explain how it worked. Because I would actually love to know. I've never really understood how it actually works.
This is very intresting, studying this sort of stuff at the moment

Far too complex to actually properly explain, go study biology if you want to know but I can give an incredibly basic overview just now.
Survival of those who can and do survive.
Not survival of the fittest, just elimination of the weakest.
Old african proverb that fits the bill nicely
“Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.”
If you want to know HOW evolution happens then PM me and i'll try to remember to explain in the morning cause i'm way to tired.
Also evolution has fuck all to do with the earths formation, they are two totally seperate things.
Also the earth isn't a living sphere, Gaia isn't real.

things like basic biology and physics
It was poorly phrased, not original earth, just the proto earth.
It's just pure early rock before it was bombarded with asteroids and shit, and its the rock from when the earth started to cool.
Not that there was a special earth before and it was paved over.
And science isn't a single field, there are thousands of fields within science.
Proto earth, my mistake. But you get the general idea of what I meant the field of science, the geographical field.

Think about it. It's all about time and water.

...not sure if troll... :colbert:
Uhh what
Theories are simply a bunch of facts grouped together. Suddenly when they are all together they can't be taken as fact?
TBH I was expecting Badage Boys.
The theory of brownian motion can't explain how super conductivity arises at incredibly low temperatures.
And nothing can be fact because nothing can be 100% proven, but I agree they should be treated as fact with sufficient evidence to back them up.

Uhh, there's a big resource called, GOOGLE, look it up. Its already been proven.

Why do people insist on saying this in every fucking thread?
Why do people insist on saying this in every fucking thread?
I think you're confused.
Well brownian motion would imply that there should be absolutley nothing happening near 0 kelvin but as we can see shit does happen.
Anyway it's a moot point, I agree with you, just stating that nothing is ever 100% proven.
