What absolves her of all guilt, then?
i didnt say she isnt guilty of anything, but frankly what she did or didn't do doesn't interest me
how is rape a buzzword
I was mostly being snarky, but if you spend 10 minutes on Tumblr.com you'll get tired of reading about it, too.
i hope you don't liken people hollering things at you to rape and murder because that's incredibly childish and demeaning to the victims of those crimes
I'm not I'm genuinely wondering. He likened the risk of being yelled at to people being robbed and killed. So I'm wondering if he feels that way.

Go to different parts of tumblr. The few times I ever browse that website I avoid those types of blogs.
Rape and murder are not buzzwords. A buzzword would be victim blaming. Which I'm seeing a lot of. I'll concede that her saying he should be kicked out of the country is not unwarranting of a negative response. But I'm seeing a lot of people just saying because she took the risk. It is her fault.
This isn't victim blaming. Victim blaming is when someone has no choice in a situation and is blamed. This is "Why were you even doing that and why are you surprised?".
I'd also like to point out that not all of us are saying Tyler is justified in his actions. Personally, I feel both sides are being villains.
precisely. he's not responsible to anyone's feelings just because he's famous.
I'm saying he IS responsible and just saying his actions are a part of his image is a cheap way to rid him of said responsibility
Regardless of if what he did was wrong it was her fault? I hope you don't apply this logic to things like rape and murder.
why do people always bring up rape and murder in an argument? It was her fault for putting herself in that situation.
While I can't speak for the statistic on murder, since I don't know how much is premeditated murder and how much is random, generally rape is random. Almost 99% of the time, the woman is not putting herself in that situation. Let's not stray from the topic. Rape and murder have nothing to do with petty insults.
He should be respectful of someone's beliefs if they're not directly harming him or anyone else because he is an adult. I don't care if her feelings were hurt I care about the fact that he did what he did for no reason other than the fact that she was protesting him. He should grow up and get over it instead of crying yelling like a child because she protested him.
but that's not what he was doing. You say you get that his lyrics are a joke but when he says shit like this you take it seriously. He's obviously just trying to stoke a fire and be a dick because any way he loses. If he calls her a bitch this happens, if he just performs his concert they still protest him, and if he doesn't perform his sexist or homophobic or violent lyrics he appears weak and quick to compromise. He's not pissed because she doesn't like his lyrics, he clearly just finds it stupid that she would attempt to protest someone when they clearly don't represent the views she's opposing.

because victim blaming occurs often in rape, and it is what you are doing right now. justifying someone's actions by saying "she was asking for it" etc

Please send me what blogs you're following. I'm so tired of seeing people with gaming content throw fits about rape on a daily basis.
it's a "problematic" mentality
I was mostly being snarky, but if you spend 10 minutes on Tumblr.com you'll get tired of reading about it, too.
this has literally nothing to do with anything going on right now and nobody cares about you parroting shit you heard about tumblr on the internet
I'm saying he IS responsible and just saying his actions are a part of his image is a cheap way to rid him of said responsibility
if he was in the Australian parliament you'd have a leg to stand on here but he's an entertainer. his job is to entertain, and that's what he did for the people who paid money to attend that concert.

entertainment can be harmful and have negative impacts on society. while i wouldn't say it should be banned or is directly responsible for crime or what have you, it would be ignorant to say such is not the case.

wtf he asked me who i was following which you can see on my blog?
doesn't mean anything to me. there are so many more talented people out there that these kids are not worth anyone's time, having that level of exposure
People like what they like, dude. Just because you don't personally dig a group doesn't mean they're worthless. Quite a few modern artists draw inspiration from key members of Odd Future. Saying they have no value is quite a stretch.
Followed! :J
thanks? lol

Any value they have is, in my eyes, negative or detrimental to the music community as a whole. that's my view.
entertainment can be harmful and have negative impacts on society. while i wouldn't say it should be banned or is directly responsible for crime or what have you, it would be ignorant to say such is not the case.
I'll grant you harm to society but I will not grant you responsibility of the entertainer for the societal results of that entertainment.
i will say the same thing about a number of acts, not just odd future, mind you
wtf he asked me who i was following which you can see on my blog?
it was supposed to be an automerge and I was kidding. sorry
i will say the same thing about a number of acts, not just odd future, mind you
as would i of my position. insane clown possey. skinhead bands. what have you
I'll grant you harm to society but I will not grant you responsibility of the entertainer for the societal results of that entertainment.
If the entertainer is aware that their art has an impact. Then they should be aware that what they say affects people and how they think.
rap is gay
I'll grant you harm to society but I will not grant you responsibility of the entertainer for the societal results of that entertainment.
of course not but there is taste and tact that should be kept in mind when one is at such a level as not to contribute negatively to society, which behavior like this does. Perhaps we shouldn't hold them responsible, exactly, but I think that we as members of society should not praise those who do such things at the least.
because victim blaming occurs often in rape, and it is what you are doing right now. justifying someone's actions by saying "she was asking for it" etc
okay well i'm just gonna go to a synagogue and shout "sieg heil" and "heil hitler"
once I get the shit kicked out of me, I can't be blamed for putting myself in that situation, can I? I mean, obviously the jews should've controlled themselves. It's not like I could've been the smarter person and taken out the variable that was me.
This is completely different than rape victim blaming. Don't liken it as such.
thanks? lol

well then you obviously haven't listened to very much of it but that is neither here nor there

the fact that you're comparing protesting lyrics about rape at a rap concert to running into a synagogue and shouting "sieg heil" lmfao
it was supposed to be an automerge and I was kidding. sorry

oh okay *friendly rating*
yeah those bands have a different sort of negative impact on society but ultimately they both cause harm in different ways. and again, I don't think we should praise such acts or say "well it's okay because..." or "who cares."
well then you obviously haven't listened to very much of it but that is neither here nor there
I have listened to more than enough and most importantly seen the PLACE that their music has in our current music "scene" or whatever you'd like to call it and it disgusts me, in all honesty.
