this is a little late but OF have their own label
it's not a real label [editline]9th June 2013[/editline] their actual label(s) http://www.xlrecordings.com/tyler (owned by Beggars Group who owns basically every indie label other than merge records (lol)) and sony's RED which is a massive label that allows "indie" artists to still appear indie while having a major label marketing team and distro (similar to XL who does single album deals) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RED_Distribution [editline]9th June 2013[/editline] even then their "indie" label has only released 6 albums over 3 years?
office isnt a public space, a theatre is im sorry i didnt know you were so familiar with my opinions, how is it inconsistent with how i usually look at things
it could be anywhere tbh. its the fact she went to a concert, and disturbed it. a person that is known by tyler that wants to shut down his tour is coming to a concert and protesting. im not endorsing his actions, so you dont need to get snippy
yeah a concert is a public space if someone criticizes you and what comes out of your mouth is appalling shit that proves the point of the people protesting you, then you deserve the fallout anyway i dont really understand the relevance there if someone disturbed my concert and I responded with calling her a bitch and telling the audience to join me what would you think of me? im not being snippy, im just curious as to what you meant with your comment
the relevance is she paid to go into a concert to protest, not exactly public unless you have a ticket the relevance of the celebrity statement was that is probably not the entire reason people are defending him, i brought it up because it is not the sole reason everyone that defending him is defending him. (it sounds like youre trying to say it is) well if i walked into a concert that was full of your fans and you and tried to change the view of the situation there, i'd probly call you a dick, but what did i expect? i walked into a concert where i threatened part of the lead singers tour and was planning to disrupt it. it doesnt endorce everyone calling me a bitch tho you posted sarcastically and came off a bit snippy
Tyler doesn't even mean the fuck up shit he says, he's pretty chill irl.
So what was she doing at the concert that got his attention? It isn't like Tyler detected her with his feminist senses.
So what was she doing at the concert that got his attention? It isn't like Tyler detected her with his feminist senses.
probably holding some sign that said something about him being a woman hater or something, that's all I could think of tho seriously like why are people raggin' on tyler for this. i'd say he's in the right, if i was a musician and someone went to one of my concerts to start shit with me I'd totally retaliate fuck man, trent reznor flipped his keyboard and almost stopped one of NINs last concerts because someone kept screaming for head like a hole to be played after he told him to shut the fuck up
the people paid to get in there. that makes it a private space.
those are some pretty fucked up lyrics
also not serious in the slightest
he verbally abused them w/ his bad rap
So basically she goes to this show to protest, and when he says something about her she gets offended and acts like she didn't have it coming? Oh wow.
when someone has a legitimate criticism about your lyrical style I think it helps to not retort as childishly as "fuck you bitch" [editline]9th June 2013[/editline]
If I knowingly go to a neighborhood where people are often robbed, should the robbers be blamed for me being robbed? Partially, yes. But I knew very well where I was going and what I was doing. The same logic applies here.
This is the same argument people use to blame the victim of rape. That should tell you how terrible of an example that was.
those are some pretty fucked up lyrics
Aaaaand people like you, are who he aims his music at. It's like a troll, kind of. [editline]9th June 2013[/editline] In America you are not allowed to protest on private property so wtf was she doing there. She was being a dumb bitch and got called out for it. If anybody else had called her a dumb bitch, it wouldn't have even made it on to the news.
le facepunch anti feminism circlejerk xd (User was banned for this post ("Shitposting" - MaxOfS2D))
If somebody is being an asshole, and you call them an asshole are you in the wrong? Is it an insult if it's true?
yeah a concert is a public space
I don't think a place is a public space if you have to pay a fee to enter that space, I'm not gonna do the research to discover whether this particular area where the event took place was a publicly owned space or a private space, but chances are it was probably the latter. When you pay to enter a concert, you are paying to listen to the music by the people who are playing there, you are not paying for the right to disturb that performance because of whatever moral objections you have to it.
if someone criticizes you and what comes out of your mouth is appalling shit that proves the point of the people protesting you, then you deserve the fallout anyway
I have seen people claim that his behaviour is all an act, I don't follow him so I do not know. But it seems so outrageous that it probably is just him playing a character for shock effect. The question is, does his music actually incite violence against women or is it like jokingly saying, "Let's exterminate the X ethnic group" *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*, and the only people who don't seem to get that it's not serious are a small subset of people who wouldn't be exposed to you otherwise, who are not in the loop but see a false injustice to be dismantled. If you provide evidence to back up your claim that his music is causing violence against women and at the same time that a significant number of his fans don't realise it is a joke, then you are justified in making the claim Collective Shout is making.
i dont really understand the relevance there if someone disturbed my concert and I responded with calling her a bitch and telling the audience to join me what would you think of me?
I would think you care more about playing your music than the person disturbing your concert. Which is reasonable, I personally would not want my music concert turned into a discussion forum about the nature of the content of my music and how it affects the world, that is discussion for another forum. I think Tyler goes too far if he is being genuine about what he is saying, if he is playing a character though I do not.

Yeah Tyler is part comedian, just look at his work he's not serious about half of the shit he says.
By your logic buses are not public space because you have to pay to ride them.
not exactly, a concert that is private until you buy a ticket does not compare to a public bus owned by a city/company that nearly anyone is able to ride. the concert is a private area where you buy to gain entry.
not exactly, a concert that is private until you buy a ticket does not compare to a public bus owned by a city/company that nearly anyone is able to ride. the concert is a private area where you buy to gain entry.
You're saying the act of buying entry doesn't even determine whether it's private or not? Then what about
the relevance is she paid to go into a concert to protest, not exactly public unless you have a ticket
You clearly say that having paid is what made it private. Furthermore the concert hall is owned by a company too, Century Venues to be precise.
Amazing, 6 pages of comments on non news. Tyler the creator is a creator of drama and the media take the bait because it keeps the wheels turning. Eminem was doing this around the time of the millenium and NWA were doing it before him. 2 live crew, Motley Crew and back we go through time where every generation think their idols are the first to shock society. Its all been done before but better.

It's not.
I don't think a place is a public space if you have to pay a fee to enter that space
public space IE space where the general public gathers IE not an office
tyler's pretty genius js, also love the fact that he's pretty real with his shit people say his lyrics support rape but that's about as stupid as saying heavy metal supports murder
Yeah Tyler is part comedian, just look at his work he's not serious about half of the shit he says.
it's impossible to tell what's serious or not with them
I really don't understand what a feminist could have been doing at a Tyler the Creator concert
Probably being a heckler hope she got the Marilyn Manson treatment [t]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mayefAI40F8[/t]
edit: golf wang
Wonder what she said :v:
The problem is that people are taking him seriously and being way too sensitive.
The problem is that people are taking him seriously and being way too sensitive.
agreed, like he said in one of his songs, its fucking fiction.
