Anyone who recently bought a Nexus 7 is fuming right now.
I got mine in December and I regret nothing.
Anyone who recently bought a Nexus 7 is fuming right now.
That's me...
These leaked specs combined with the belief of a price drop are contrary to reality. A 1080p display at 7" would have to be LTPS unless they somehow have Sharp mass producing tons of IGZO displays. That alone will make it hard if not impossible to keep at $199, but then it's believed to use a Snapdragon 800 chip? The flagship of mobile SoCs? I don't really see it happening. [editline]4th April 2013[/editline] Actually it does. Not even the app launcher is 60fps on the Nexus 7, I was using one earlier today. Perfectly noticeable even without a 60fps reference device.
As for the price, I agree, I wouldn't expect a drop either. But for the resolution, what would you expect? I don't think I've even heard of a mobile device running something between 720[-800] and 1080.
I've been waiting for this... This will replace my kindle fire
I'd buy this.

Alternatively, bump in screen size. [editline]4th April 2013[/editline]
What does that have to do with his post? He was saying that he likes the size of the Nexus 7 for reading books.
Preferring it "just because it's perfect for reading books". I could see someone maybe liking the Nexus 7 over a Surface RT for that reason since they're both ARM tablets and the Surface has no apps, but that's not really something that I could imagine swaying someone away from a Surface Pro. If I offered someone both, I can't imagine them choosing the former solely because it reads books better. So my post is really just a statement of my disbelief that it could apply to the Pro.

I mean sure, if they are looking for a fully featured tablet (which I'm assuming is the Surface Pro's main appeal) then yeah, of course they won't choose the N7. Of course, if they are looking for an ebook reader, then yes, they probably would choose the N7 solely for that reason.
I love my nexus. I made the mistake of buying one right before the release of the larger storage. If this is anywhere as good as the one I have now(I don't doubt it) I'll probably give this to my sister or someone and buy the new iteration of the nexus.
I hope the build quality is better and it allows for HDMI. I don't know if I would call the Tegra 3 aging, my phone still has a 600 MHz single core.
What would they call it? Nexus 7 2?
I'll never get one unless mine breaks or something, but there's something about higher resolutions that just draw me like a moth to flame.
I knew there was a reason I waited. I just got my first job too, now I know what the first paycheck's going towards
What would they call it? Nexus 7 2?
Nexus 7.1, 8 etc,
Anyone who recently bought a Nexus 7 is fuming right now.
I bought one yesterday...
Shoulda waited since you knew Google I/O was happening
Honestly, the ability to run x86 software would completely justify the price. To hell with gimped "apps" Also I'm pretty sure WM 2002 devices had smoother scrolling than most Android devices, you know the ones with 300Mhz ARM chips and 64Mb of RAM.
That's bullshit and you know it. I've been using smartphones and PDAs since the beginning and Windows Mobile did not have "smoother scrolling". My reference? My HTC Touch Pro/Touch Pro 2/Palm Treo 650/Palm Treo 700W running Windows Mobile 6.5
To be fair my HP iPAQ never glitched or lagged when it was scrolling and that was WM5.
To be fair my HP iPAQ never glitched or lagged when it was scrolling and that was WM5.
Neither did my phones, and neither does my Android devices. Maybe my G1 because I'm running the latest version of Android on hardware from 2008.
To be fair my HP iPAQ never glitched or lagged when it was scrolling and that was WM5.
Neither did my SE W810i with Opera Mini. Well it couldn't display much interactive web content, but with a itty bitty screen that would be useless anyway :v:
I don't think you have ever used a Nexus S on AOSP then. The launcher stutters, the web browser stutters, the lock screen stutters. And it has a wonderful habit of completely and utterly locking up, gotta love lagdroid multitasking, what a silly idea for an underpowered ARM device.
Your arguments stutters. Get the fuck out unless you can dig up unbiased reports from various trusted sources. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - MaxOfS2D))
Your arguments stutters. Get the fuck out unless you can dig up unbiased reports from various trusted sources.
His source is that he owns the phone. Guess what, I own the i9000 running AOSP and everything he just said holds up.
I preordered my original Nexus 7. I've been using it more and more I find. I really want a Nexus 10, but don't want one from Samsung.
My question is, will they really be able to keep the $199 price point with the newer specs? I'd thought they were already barely breaking even on the 16gb nexus 7? And the rumors of dropping the price seems really unlikely to me
I preordered my original Nexus 7. I've been using it more and more I find. I just don't like the design of the Nexus 10. I want an LG or Asus designed Nexus 10. Same 2560x1600 screen plz.
Eh, I'll wait for an official announcement and price and all that jazz. My younger sister wants one, so I guess I can always give her my current one.
It would be neat if you could send back your first gen nexus 7 and get the new one at a discount (especially for those who bought one recently)
I just bought a nexus 7 on amazon ABOUT 45 FUCKING MINIUTES AGO! REALLY FUCK!
Yeah I noticed the Note Tablet was a bit slow which is why I chose a Nexus 7, I'm guessing the Nexus 10 has the same issue being Samsung.
It being made by Samsung doesn't necessarily make it slow. On the contrary, their mobile CPUs are some of the best. The problem with the Note is bloated software which won't affect the nexus 10 since its a Nexus device. However, the Nexus 10, runs worse than the Nexus 7 because of its GPU. The Mali-T604 is meant for something like WXGA, not QWXGA. It's significantly worse than even the old iPad 3.
