Some of the server lets you save your character and load it another time.
Tower Defense, Mauls, and Battle Tanks are my all time favorite. Tried to get into DOTA but no asshole would let me join.
Dota in WC3 wasn't fun, but League of Legends is.

Dota is the definition of elitism. HoN has proven merciful towards me so far though... or i fucking own at this game. i think it's the a healthy mix since i had no fair chance of getting into DOTA for the wall of "OMG NOOB!!!" To be honest I never got the hang of DotA.It's just like Wow with short term grinding instead of weeks and weeks of online play.
You grind your char for a few hours and that's it.

Aside from the shitty elitist community, it really is a balanced fun game.
I loved the chaotic gameplay of DotA and the game was just in general so fucking awesome
I understand some people are frustrated because it was mostly what was hosted in WC3, but don't talk shit about it unless you actually played it
i hope it's changed up enough so that the horrible communities that DoTA and it's clones have won't come and play this game

Its the same game. Some of the abilities are direct copy and pastes from DoTA. Plus LoL was made by devs of Dota who felt it had become too 'hardcore' and elitist.

HoN is a carbon copy of DoTA, while LoL I feel went in a slightly different direction. Similar formula, but the items and glyph system makes it stand out a fair bit.
Can't really say it's stood out well, I personally find HoN more enjoyable than LoL simply because the most glaring issue holding back DoTA from being a really good game was the lag and lack of a proper engine. LoL took it in a different direction, but I don't necessarily feel it was the right one.
