Why do they have to make the top of it so pointy? That's almost cheating.
isnt the red sea an active fault line?
Looks pretty sweet I guess.
I don't understand why people feel the need to make a building so fucking big. There's no way they're going to need all of that space in there. It's just a waste of time and money.
It's pretty much like going to the moon - unnecessary, damn cool and a front of human ingenuity. SA-PI-ENS! SA-PI-ENS!
I don't understand why people feel the need to make a building so fucking big. There's no way they're going to need all of that space in there. It's just a waste of time and money.
it can provide a whole ton of office space and will provide lots of jobs.
We're talking about people who write their names in the sand so they're visible from space
Upside down.
First thing that came to my mind as well when I saw

You are my hero.
I geuss political wise Saudi Arabia isn't that far off from city 17.
While they should, its Saudi Arabia. When have the royalty there ever saved their money? When has royalty ever saved their money?
Most of the people who do this shit in Saudi Arabia will make back the money they spent on it in 2 - 5 years. I'm not joking.
Why on earth is Saudi Arabia still building up this real estate bubble? Shouldn't they realize by now how unhealthy this is for them? Isn't Riyadh and Mecca enough? It's like they're WANTING to build massive ghost cities which wont fill up for another 30 years. In the 1990s it was SouthEastern Asia, In the 2000s it was the USA, In the 2010s it will be China and the middle east.
I don't understand why people feel the need to make a building so fucking big. There's no way they're going to need all of that space in there. It's just a waste of time and money.
Exactly, those Arabs are fucked when the oil runs out. They'll have to sell the building to the Combine to raise some money.
Is there even a point to the tip of the building other then to make it taller? Unless I'm looking at the proportions wrong and it's actually thicker then I'm imagining.
I'm no architect but considering wind speeds get stronger as you go up, having a tall building with a sharp end is the way to go, which could explain why most tall buildings look like stretched out pyramids or cones.
Is that a Helipad near the top?
how long before we get galaxy scrapers? all we need then is tournament of unreal proportions
good GOD i love that map

I love how some countries are building these huge buildings to (sort of) compete with eachother, waste of money, sure, but it's awesome. It's like the space race, for buildings.
I love how some countries are building these huge buildings to (sort of) compete with eachother, waste of money, sure, but it's awesome. It's like the space race, for buildings.
Mile long dick waving contest more like.

It's like the space race, for buildings.
It's ridiculously profitable and easy to get into Real Estate business in the case of a booming economy, even moreso when there's a demand for such a thing. The economy is booming in that region, so it might not be that big of a surprise of a ton of businesses stock up every inch of it.
I hate pointy skyscrapers. They just bypass real engineering by using a cone structure for stability. There needs to me more square or rectangular skyscrapers.

I wanna ride a sportsbike down the side of it.
Cant wait for someone to recreate this in Minecraft. (when 1.8 comes out ofcourse)
Just one problem, the height limit needs to be 1024 blocks.
The Al Burj was my favourite skyscraper design ever It was never built :( it was meant to be taller than the one from the OP as well
