I'm no architect but considering wind speeds get stronger as you go up, having a tall building with a sharp end is the way to go, which could explain why most tall buildings look like stretched out pyramids or cones.

It's ridiculously profitable and easy to get into Real Estate business in the case of a booming economy, even moreso when there's a demand for such a thing. The economy is booming in that region, so it might not be that big of a surprise of a ton of businesses stock up every inch of it.
I hate pointy skyscrapers. They just bypass real engineering by using a cone structure for stability.
There needs to me more square or rectangular skyscrapers.
