There's no reason to assume that. Basically the entire history the US is avalible on the internet two or three times over. You don't need to live somewhere to know how things like the judicial system work.
Of course, culture generally requires immersion to pick up, but we're not talking about that (unless you're going to suddenly pretend that we are).
And this is why we need better gun control, to keep them out of the hands of people like this.
...'Murica.

Ok, basically the entire history of the U.K. is on the internet. I would never propose to ban all edged weapons in the U.K. just because knife crimes have increased in the U.K. I've never been to the U.K. and have no idea what the social and criminal climates of the U.K. are like. Not to mention banning all knives would never decrease crime, just like banning guns will never decrease crime.

Except people blowing away a random person that knocks on their door for help rarely happens.
This is certainly the first case of the sort that I've ever seen.

Pfft, not me. When I lived in Florida for two years, you'd hear of redneck violence all the time. Glad I moved.
Not all news makes it past the local paper, just really over the top crap like this.

Those cases are all anecdotes.
By some people's logic here, your argument holds no validity.
Let it die, people.

Second amendment? OK.
I'll grab the shovel, time to put that rotten carcass into the earth so it can be forgotten.
It's starting to stink up the place.

Just because you wouldn't do something doesn't mean that no one would do that thing, or that no one should do that thing.
To be honest, all you're doing at this point is restating your point over and over. I'd liken it to arguing with a loud speaker but at least a loud speaker can be turned off.

God damn you're so ingnorant. If you guys are going to continue the discussion why not make a thread in the mass debate forum? Instead of clogging up the Sensationalist Headlines forum with a discussion about what is no longer "news". I can't believe this thread got as long as it did.
Your perception is laughable at best.
hey i'm not the one who literally spends all his time thinking about how scary he is and how he'll shoot people without hesitation
"crimnals should fear me super hardcore cos i got this big gun!!!"

and it's not like you haven't done this before either
I know you guys don't believe in protecting the lives of your families and yourselves over in the UK, but if I had a daughter and a man punched her in the face and he had multiple other fucking men backing him up; One of the fuckers is going to be on the ground screaming with a .40 S&W slug in his leg.
My opinions are those shared by educated americans.

Hey look at that! We have come full circle!
Only counting robberies, assault and murder, the US has a higher rate of violent crime using knives than the UK has for every violent crime involving knives. The US also has a higher homicide rate involving knives than the UK.
The only debate here is whether its right to shoot black people when their drunk.
to be brutally honest i don't care about the fact that he showed up to the door with a gun. shooting her point blank was obviously fucking wrong and i'm not trying to defend that decision or laud the man at all. if someone came knocking on my door in the wee hours of the morning, i'd have a fucking weapon in my hand too

I don't recall ever saying I thought I was scary and the 9mm Parabellum isn't a big gun by any means.
And God fucking damn, excuse the fuck out of me for defending two defenseless women?
The only reason you'd have a problem with that is you enjoy punching women or some shit.
Like I said, your perception is laughable at best.

Ok, I guess we should ban knives then.

Hey man, I'm just using your logic. I adapt to your way of thinking and now I'm a hypocrite?
Is anyone that has a different opinion than you just uneducated?
Ok, I guess we should ban knives then.
Why would we ban something as important as knives? They form a core function in all societies. How would we even prepare food to survive?

So do you think anecdotes are acceptable or not.
So do you think anecdotes are acceptable or not.
Anecdotes that hold validity are absolutely acceptable. I was simply using your logic to turn the tables.

Because people are murdered on a daily basis with them?
Think of the children?
I'm literally just using U.K. logic here. I'm surprised you can't relate.

What makes an anecdote valid or not?

Because you can't physically ban knives. They're far too important at a basic level and are not even that dangerous.

Well cavemen functioned without them...and think of the children.
And wow, you won the prize with the, "aren't that dangerous" comment.
I know I've mentioned seeing a friend shot and killed before..
But have you ever seen a good friend STABBED to death in front of you?
In my opinion, the risks far outweigh the bad in the U.K. when it comes to knives..
Also think of the children...literally...take a second to think about all the school stabbings that occur in china all the time.
Ban knives in the U.K.!
That's right, I'm starting a petition.

but you're obviously constructing scenarios where you're the guy who steps in and saves people with your gun. oh no someone's in trouble, BAM you've somehow managed to shoot a guy nonlethally in the knee (which even i know that you're not supposed to do and would probably backfire hideously) and all those dudes have backed off and you've saved the day, good job
what's creepy about that is that you keep inserting yourself into these situations that would normally be deeply traumatic, and turning it into an action movie where you unflinchingly shoot the bad guys with pinpoint accuracy, you save the day, and nothing goes wrong. not only are you really scarily casual about the whole concept of shooting a guy, but you're also failing to realize that you could easily get yourself badly injured or killed at any point by acting like that. that's what makes it a fantasy.

Cavemen functioned at a caveman level of society.
You don't have a working argument, but I guess you enjoy looking stupid.
Speaking about school tabbings, and the same day as sandy hook someone in China stabbed 23 children. None died. How many where shot and killed at sandy hook?
Knives just are not that lethal compared to firearms.
25 pages of mostly bullshit, this is sad.

This whole fucking post is your little fantasy. :v:
I'm not afraid to die serving someone else.
Hell, that's why I joined the Infantry when I was 17.

Plenty of lethal knife attacks over the last few years in China alone.

you're not serving anyone by acting like a psycho. you're only going to get yourself and other people hurt

Most guns are designed to kill people. And people only.
An ordinary tool like hammer is not designed to kill people.

also you really do fit the gun nut stereotype

Most guns =/= All guns
most = greatest in amount, extent, or degree
all = the whole quantity or extent of a particular group or thing
Even if this were an argument, you may notice there is a distinct lack of handguns, automatic weapons, or explosives in this picture.
