she probably did something to the phone which he noticed after she gave it to him
Yeah maybe she scratched the screen.
Oh wow, right in my town too. Downtown is usually a pretty nice place, kinda surprised this happened here. also your source is completely fucking stupid
Wait a second, there are actually people on FP from my hometown?
I found a iPad in a shopping cart where I work. I turned in. I turn in all things I find. Regardless of where I am.
I'm not sure about all smart phones but i did hear that Apple do know where your phone is and who occupies it (as do mobile providers). I can't believe they have all this information and that they won't help you find your stole/lost mobile phone. Mobile phone providers will only help the police if they need access to their database and look who's currently using it. Before you know it, 3 months would have gone passed and the person more than likely sold it on to some innocent buyer who if you'd want to claim it back, loses 350 quid in the process so F- it. Even the thief could claim he bought it of another person so F- it too. Protection apps are so bad because you can turn locations off in the settings or restore the device. Why won't they do something. Phones are more expensive, more usefully demanding and more fragile than they have ever been before and the fact they have the working technology that would mostly stop mobile crime in it's tracks makes it ten times sillier.
I installed my tracking software into the rom, and my tracking software has admin rights on the phone so it can turn on the gps and shit by itself. The only way to remove it is by flashing a different rom on it, a system restore will just reinstal the app as well. That said, tracking software will generally not help you if someone stole it, at least where I live, as a GPS location is not sufficient proof of a phone being in a building for the police to get a warrant to enter the property. In fact, if I report my phone stolen and provide them with the coords, they won't do anything at all. They only way to get your property back is sueing the person that has it, and hoping you have enough evidence to prove that said person even has the property AND that the property said person has belongs to you.
she probably did something to the phone which he noticed after she gave it to him
and that totally justifies kicking the shit out of a 53-year-old woman.
Isn't that considered assault or battery?
It's a mugging, which is assault and robbery.
Well I'm never giving stuff back if I ever find something like this.
Well I'm never giving stuff back if I ever find something like this.
There's one bad story in the article and three positive stories in this thread alone. I don't really see the problem with returning stuff to their rightful owner. Against popular belief, most of society actually exists out of decent people but nobody ever writes an article about that.
I remember the time when I found some kids phone on the ground one winter. I sent an SMS to the fathers number informing him about his sons lost phone and then later I sent my home adress to him. Then he came to pick it up and rewarded me with a big bag of candy. Shit was so cash.
It's a mugging, which is assault and robbery.
wouldn't it be battery and robbery?
wouldn't it be battery and robbery?
Yes, assault is only threatening someone.
What the hell? Do Virginians go out of their way to be this horrible?
Saying this was unnecessary and stupid
Mental issues, move along
Can someone please explain to me why this post is dumb I mean I know it sounded flippant and all but assaulting a person right after they returned a valuable possession to you doesn't really sound like something a fully sane person would do (unless I misunderstood something here, that is)
We found a phone on the road once and after 2 days we finally figured out who's it was and they came and picked to pick it up. Thankfully, he thanked us and all. No assault here. I don't understand why on Earth they even assaulted her. Was it for the money? Why the fuck would you even offer it in the first place then, scumbags?

Maybe the female iPhone owner was the one who offered the money but the male didn't agree with that at all. I'm doubting that someone who had just offered her money would be the one who attacked her.
I was running to meet my girlfriend before she got her bus and my shitty Nokia brick phone fell out my pocket. Turns out it got run over by a motorcyclist, and I was devastated cause I'm living alone and it's the only way I can really contact my parents in an emergency. My friend calls my phone and some guy answers and is such a decent person. Tells me to go to this office nearby the next morning to pick it up. When we get there the guy has my phone, hands it over and makes my day by just being generally kind and awesome. Ever since then I vowed to myself I'd always return stuff I find because it really can make someone's day.
Wait, what? Your phone got run over by a motorcycle, but it still works?
We should find out the womans address and order pizza for her :v: But in all seriousness it would probably be a kindness if we were able to find out her address and send her flowers or something like that.
Isn't that considered assault or battery?
Battery is unconsented contact with another person. Assault is the creation of an environment where someone feels unsafe. Threatening to stab someone with a knife is assault. Actually stabbing them is battery.
If someone found my android and returned it, they would probably get a $50.00. I have far too many things logged in.
