I dont think having a confederate flag will some how turn people racist.
Flags are symbols. So then when you fly a flag you need to ask yourself what does it symbolize and is that something you want to be associated with?
He got grief because his art shows what HE thinks it symbolizes and it's not something good. There are people out there who think it symbolizes something good and so they're pissed off. Of course they pretend to not understand that flag, being carried by racists in favor of slavery, is tainted forever. Much like a swastika, no matter where it came from or what it used to mean, now symbolizes genocidal evil.
