Religion and Politics, two things that need to go away... FOR EVER.
I can't tell if you're trying to be retarded, or if it's just natural to you.
Goodbye religion, you fucking douche.
Stop trying to incite a flame war where it's completely irrelevant
I've never understood what any of this has to do with my everyday life or why anything related to the LHC is even considered noteworthy or newsworthy.
casually unravelling the secrets of the universe nah, nothing you should care about.
Shit like this makes me excited for the brink of my death, just to see how different everything is and how much everything has advanced.
With science death will be a thing of the past!
No one disbelieves in climate change any more, just whether or not it's man made or not.
nope
Because it has a trickle effect. "I can't see how this electricity lark will do anything useful at all, and frankly I don't see why anything related to it is news worthy." Sound familiar?
well electricity is practical and will prolong my life in some cases Proving the existence of other dimensions isnt practical, it's just an interesting fact that we spent x billion dollars on. I think there are a lot more practical things we could be doing with our money and our technology right now [editline]16th November 2010[/editline]
casually unravelling the secrets of the universe nah, nothing you should care about.
would knowing the "secrets of the universe" make me an ounce happier? I doubt it. it's pretty much useless information
would knowing the "secrets of the universe" make me an ounce happier? I doubt it. it's pretty much useless information
Well, the fact that it's the largest, most advanced artificial structure to date shoots down at least your argument about it not being noteworthy. Otherwise, how shortsighted can you even get? You do realise people like you told Faraday that electromagnetic induction would never have a feasible use, right?
Well, the fact that it's the largest, most advanced artificial structure to date shoots down at least your argument about it not being noteworthy.
I can think of a lot "mosts" that were considered not noteworthy, just because it's a superlative doesnt make it important, unless the headline would be "biggest waste of money and land in history"
Otherwise, how shortsighted can you even get? You do realise people like you told Faraday that electromagnetic induction would never have a feasible use, right?
I do realize that I dont give 2 shits about electromagnetic induction.
I do realize that I dont give 2 shits about electromagnetic induction.
Are you fucking dense? Or are you just trolling now?
Are you fucking dense? Or are you just trolling now?
I have no idea what electromagnetic induction is, therefore, I could care less. While stephen hawkings is running around spending a fuckton of money on shit like this, there are more important social and political issues that we could actually address.
I have no idea what electromagnetic induction is.
i don't know whether to laugh or cry
i don't know whether to laugh or cry
Im sorry that Im not a physics major, I have better things to do
fyi we wouldn't have anything that runs on electricity without the discovery of electromagnetic induction faraday discovered ELECTRICITY. you know, that shit that runs your computer and TV and everything electrical ever?
fyi we wouldn't have anything that runs on electricity without the discovery of electromagnetic induction faraday discovered ELECTRICITY. you know, that shit that runs your computer and TV and everything electrical ever?
I didnt say it wasnt practical. I said I dont care
Im sorry that Im not a physics major, I have better things to do
man why don't you just take a plane to north africa and live in a hole, it'd probably suit you
man why don't you just take a plane to north africa and live in a hole, it'd probably suit you
Because I'm not spending my life according to the religion of science? no thanks I'm a liberal arts major
I didnt say it wasnt practical. I said I dont care
well you SHOULD care. Because you wouldn't have any of these nice things such as electrical heating, computers, motors etc. without it, and BECAUSE of people like you, we had to wait longer for such discoveries to bear fruit. [editline]16th November 2010[/editline]
no thanks I'm a liberal arts major
figures
well you SHOULD care.
Well it doesnt MATTER if I care. I'm not going to care because you told me to. If I think that it's boring, dumb, dead information that I couldnt give less of a shit about, then I'm going to openly try to get other people to hate it to, so that I win.

wow jiyoon how can there be
I can think of a lot "mosts" that were considered not noteworthy, just because it's a superlative doesnt make it important, unless the headline would be "biggest waste of money and land in history" I do realize that I dont give 2 shits about electromagnetic induction.
so
I have no idea what electromagnetic induction is, therefore, I could care less.
Stop trying to incite a flame war where it's completely irrelevant
Not trying to start a flame war. This will literally prove that we were not created by a intelligent being but instead a massive expansion of time and space.
Not trying to start a flame war. This will literally prove that we were not created by a intelligent being but instead a massive expansion of time and space.
Actually I'm pretty sure that God is an unfalsifiable concept which means you can't disprove or prove his existence.
Hey guys this guy is an idiot for not believing in something which has absolutely no evidence Let's call him a retard and make bad jokes because he won't believe in what we believe in
Im sorry that Im not a physics major, I have better things to do
I find it hard to believe you're an anything major
Actually I'm pretty sure that God is an unfalsifiable concept which means you can't disprove or prove his existence.
Oh yes he can. In fact the bible is the reason he can be disproved, stating that he was always there. Which physically impossible. Science on the other hand, states that the universe was nothing but a singularity. A point of infinity containing everything, gravity keeping everything from expanding. Then rapid expansion happened. [editline]16th November 2010[/editline] Just so you know the singularity was so small it was not considered "physical" but instead something outside of time and space, being that they did not exit yet.

[editline]16th November 2010[/editline] Just so you know the singularity was so small it was not considered "physical" but instead something outside of time and space, being that they did not exit yet.
I don't think that's entirely relevant. Although science has stacked up a lot of evidence against the way God is supposed to 'work' according to most modern monotheistic religions, the existence of a higher power, albeit rather a benign one that isn't breaking the laws of physics and influencing the universe according to prayers and rituals, is something that cannot currently be proven or disproven and most likely never will. That said, whether such an entity exists or not it a moot point. If it does, it most likely has little to no influence on the present universe and believing or not believing in it wont change anything. It's like the celestial teapot argument. There's no way you can disprove that a teapot is currently orbiting the sun, and although there's no evidence for or against it, it's highly unlikely and in practice you wont believe it.
Oh yes he can. In fact the bible is the reason he can be disproved,
You do realize that the Bible can be inaccurate and thus can not disprove a vague concept.
Which physically impossible.
Yes, God must adhere to the laws of physics. What is he, some all-powerful being? That's just cheating.
Science on the other hand, states that the universe was nothing but a singularity.
Science is just a concept and can't state anything. In fact, if Science was some sort of being that could state things, he'd tell you to sit your ass down and wait until we have proof of the Big Bang theory before you start preaching it to the masses.
Just so you know the singularity was so small it was not considered "physical" but instead something outside of time and space, being that they did not exit yet.
It's starting to sound like you have God and the Big Bang mixed up.
In fact, if Science was some sort of being that could state things, he'd tell you to sit your ass down and wait until we have proof of the Big Bang theory before you start preaching it to the masses.
well being that it will never be possible to prove the big bang completely (barring time travel or the artificial creation of an identical universe) the best we can do is collect evidence and form a conclusion based on it the evidence we DO have leads us to conclude that the big bang is the most likely explanation for the origin of the universe like if you really hash it out it's impossible to prove a great many things we take for granted, like the fact that abraham lincoln actually existed. nobody lives today that met lincoln and can provide eyewitness testimony, but the massive amount of evidence we have of his life suggests that it's overwhelmingly probable that he did exist
like if you really hash it out it's impossible to prove a great many things we take for granted, like the fact that abraham lincoln actually existed. nobody lives today that met lincoln and can provide eyewitness testimony, but the massive amount of evidence we have of his life suggests that it's overwhelmingly probable that he did exist
Ah, yes, the Nobody Can Prove Hitler approach. Nice try, but no cigar.
*sigh* paramud, god damn it. before I address the outrageously stupid error you made in that post, I'm trying to say that proof of things so far back in time beyond a shadow of a doubt is basically impossible, so we have to settle with proof beyond a reasonable doubt now then: nobody can prove hitler? the fuck does that mean? there are people alive that met him personally, unlike honest abe
