• The Simpsons was almost canceled

It had a good run, but even though I wouldn't mind to see it keep going, it was going on for too long already.
I always find comments like this funny, not just about The Simpsons, but about every show that was cancelled after it 'stopped being good a long time ago'. If it had been cancelled before it started to get worse then everyone would be mad because they cancelled a perfectly good show. It confuses me.
It started getting bad long ago as well. I'm just saying it's long overdue for this to happen. And I'm not sure "everyone" would be mad since I'm sure most would agree with me.
Another lingering relic of the 20th century dead it seems.
so did you cry horribly back in 2003
I wasn't aware of Futurama's existence until 2009
While this is certainly terrible news for The Simpsons’ many fans (even if you don’t watch it now, you did at one time – so you’re still a fan)
Um... No?
They should make the last episode really sad and have homer die of liver failure or something dramatic of the like. Great sad way to end the series.
Huh? Where did you hear that? Why would they even cancel it, it's been doing pretty well recently in terms of viewers.
I didn't really mean that it was going off the air, but it's been on air for so long that I don't really see it going on for much longer.
Even though I don't watch it anymore, it will be a sad day
My all time favorite Simpson episode is the one where Homer goes off and starts a plantation, producing the a plant called Tomacco. Oh my childhood.
It seems obvious, but I feel the show show end with the Simpsons family getting on (or off) the couch one last time, and either flicking the TV on or off. And to think King of the Hill (another great series) was replaced with the Cleavland Show. I wonder what will replace The Simpsons?
The Quagmire Show.
I don't think so... This is probably the most hit or miss thing I've seen in a while: Napoleon Dynamite, the cartoon series, voiced by the original cast
I remember Matt Groening saying in a commentary that when it came time to end the series, he would probably go out with them having another child. I kinda hope they stick with that.
They should make the last episode really sad and have homer die of liver failure or something dramatic of the like. Great sad way to end the series.
That would just leave a horrible aftertaste. The last episode should show once again what we love(d) the Simpsons for, and that's comedy. Maybe with a little message weaved into the end depending on how the voice actors will react. I'd wish for a dignifying conclusion for the Simpsons, they were way too influential to just die off like that.
The writers should make the final episode as expensive as possible, like what Conan did with the late night show.
They've been making $440000 PER EPISODE? Christ, I knew actors were rich fucks, but that's a chunk of change. I mean, that's more than the god damn president makes in a year.
Sad to see a peice of so many peoples childhood disappear. Last episode better go out with a bang.
Awww FUCK!
Thank god. I'd rather not see this series milked for ratings more than it already is.
It'd be nice to bring back some of the classic writers for the final season. People like Swartzwelder, Cohen, O'Brien, Keeler, Oakley and Weinstein, Kogen and Wolodarsky. Really the longevity of the Simpsons is what ultimately brought it down IMO. The show has been running for over twenty years now. As one set of writers retired, a new set from a different generation rolled in. The comedy on the show seemed to evolve every few seasons to meet the changing tide. Either way, It'll be odd to think that it's finally over after so many years. As long as I've been alive, the Simpsons has been running.
I bet there'll be some cult that does mass suicide at the end of the last episode or something.
I bet they start bringing back a ton of guests. Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, and so many others.

Oh, but Family Guy's still on the air. The worst episodes of the simpsons are better than every episodeof Family Guy. But let's think... 20 seasons? That's an okay run. But this hurts. For a lot of FP'ers, Simpsons has been around since I was born. My Dad works for the comics. He's obsessed with em, he loves em. This sucks on ice.
Oh, but Family Guy's still on the air. The worst episodes of the simpsons are better than every episodeof Family Guy.
Lol not really. Family Guy has actually been funny recently. Simpsons hasn't.
I remember when me and my dad would watch this show together. So many good memories. I will watch the last episode in honor of the many hours of joy the Simpsons gave me. No matter what you think of the shows current state you must admit that it's truly a sad thing to see something which has been around for most of our childhoods go away.
I hope it ends on a real touching note, like King of the Hill.
So if they decide to cancel, will the finale be at the end of this recently started season, or at the end of a next year's season?
Now who's shorts will I eat..
Now who's shorts will I eat..
Mine? <3
I hope they make another movie, the movie was fantastic.
