 Braid, it's what got me into indie games. Also, I enjoyed FC2 because it appeared around the time when I was sick of shooters forcing me to play their way.
im really surprised that Unreal and Unreal Tournament (1) is not one the list yet, WTF the first unreal game was so fucking amazing!!!
Far Cry 2 was important because it showed that an ambitious game could be COMPLETELY DESTROYED by terrible oversights (driving, everyone wanting to kill you at all times, stealth not working at all).
I still enjoy Far Cry 2 even if everyone wants to kill me. You're a mercenary, people aren't here to make friends with you. It's a very lonely experience, and people always say in games AI is too 'dumb'. Aiming and shooting at something isn't very difficult, especially when you're standing in an open field with a big muzzleflash showing off your position.
And that picture of it has stealth in it. Last time I checked getting even within 50m of an enemy gives them an instant lock onto you. :colbert: But Citizen Kabuto is awesome! I remember playing the demo for it when I was young and it was a blast! :buddy:
You could stealth kill but would only work once, after that first kill in that base/village, everyone else would instantly be alert of your presence, which sucked. It would of been ok, if they said that they all had heart beat monitors and so death would alert everyone of an intruder. Reminds me of batman: arkham asylum how the suicide collars would alert your foes, good times. Far Cry 2 just gave me bad memories, you would have to replace your weapon 1 or 2 times before you got to a mission. Weapons wore out way too quick, even with upgrades. Though speed limiters that were only activated when you the player was driving was the worst.
Because people have different opinion then you, an absurd concept I know.
far cry two being a bad extremely disappointing game isn't an opinion it's a fact
far cry two being a bad extremely disappointing game isn't an opinion it's a fact
It's disappointing but I wouldn't call it bad
Where's The Elder Scrolls :saddowns:
Save the best for last. :smug: [editline]16th February 2011[/editline]
I know this is only 3/5. But dang where is Diablo/Diablo 2. I thought they would have been on one of the first lists.
Again, best for last.
GTA IV is a pretty great game, but it's a horrible PC port
Why is Far Cry 2 on that list? Sure it has pretty graphics, but once you've passed the first enemy camp on the road, you've played the whole game.
Far Cry 2 + Stealth + Faster vehicles = Win [editline]17th February 2011[/editline] Oh and non-respawning enemies too.
But Far Cry 2 was rubbish!
Hahahaha, oh lord, hahaha, fuck you.
GTA IV is a pretty great game, but it's a horrible PC port
Yeah, fucking horrible on release, but I forgive R* for that seeing as how they've been sending out updates till now fixing performance issues and what not.
i thought i was the only one who loved startopia
And that picture of it has stealth in it. Last time I checked getting even within 50m of an enemy gives them an instant lock onto you. :colbert:
I was able to sneak around perfectly fine. I just needed to be careful. OH! and crouching....and you were most likely spotted by a sniper who told everyone else :colbert: [editline]18th February 2011[/editline]
far cry two being a bad extremely disappointing game isn't an opinion it's a fact
No its opinion, you just don't like it. I do like it.
I think it had some fantastic environments in there.
Yeah but the gameplay still sucked.
how can people disagree with this
Because you're wrong? I know that's hard for you to understand because you're an arrogant prick but that's how it is.
Farcry 2 stealth was too easy. The enemies are almost blind to your presence if you are more than 8 meters away in semi tall grass, especially with the camo suit upgrade and will only hear you if you walk practically a few centimeters past them without crouching. Only problem with it was that when they catch a glimpse of you, they automatically home around your position to look for you, even if you sneak away into a totally different part for the rest of the time you spend in their camp. Also the only way you can stealth kill enemies without being spotted is to shoot them in the head with a silenced firearm. If you use a machete or hit an arm for example and even manage to kill them, their screams will still alert the other mercs if they are even relatively nearby (Doesn't mean telepathy, just a bit too long distance to hear a pained grunt.) I liked being a stealth dude in Farcry 2, silenced mp5 and IEDs are the shit, just sneak in, plant the IEDs on your objective and sneak out, blow the explosives when out of the premises. TL;DR: Stealth was always very very easy to me in Farcry 2. Possibly TOO easy. Just small problems. A faction relationship system would not have done bad though, everyone wanting to kill you was sometimes annoying.
Hahahaha, oh lord, hahaha, fuck you.
It was dire. It was as if they'd focused the entire game on fire graphics. The gameplay was shit, malaria is annoying, so are people you are even supposed to be friends with.
