I didn't even know they did console rental or preorders.
Are you talking about Halo? Why bother after Halo 4?
Forza.
That sounds like bullshit to me Why would Blockbuster, who's in the process of going bust, praise and have record breaking numbers with a console that basically makes renting games useless?
Its a bullshit console, but I hate how people are saying its going to flop. You guys are really underestimating the stupid sheep Microsoft has in its fold.
I preordered an Xbox One from eb games
Except there ARE things wrong with both it and the reveal presentation, which is why the internet is reacting so negatively to it. - "Always-On" Kinect that Microsoft needs to clarify details on. - Vague explanation regarding the requirements of an internet connection. - Region-Locked - Will not allow indie devs to self-publish - Registers games to a specific console and account, making trade-ins and sharing among friends a likely hassle. - A mere 500gb hard drive despite requiring all games to be installed to play. - Xbox Live looks to still be a paid service. - Focus on All-In-One entertainment rather than as a gaming device (which is a pro or con depending on your viewpoint). I'll grant you that a lot of what I just listed is uncertain, but that's down to Microsoft's infuriatingly vague statements.
But in order, those are: -Microsoft being vague -Microsoft being vague -Admittedly annoying but doesn't matter to most people -Exactly the same as 360 -Very bad -Kind of bad -Exactly the same as 360 -Not 'bad' unless they're sacrificing gaming ability for other tasks Most of the criticism so far has come down to rampant speculation about features only hinted at because Microsoft won't play their cards early, combined with knee-jerk reactions to announcements that some aspects, like indie publishing and paid subscriptions, will be exactly the same as the previous generation. There are a few things, like the game registration, which are real concerns, and more minor things, like hard drive space, but those are dwarfed by the number of features that you or I might roll our eyes at but which the target demographic is all over. Microsoft being vague doesn't mean the end is nigh, it just means they aren't ready to divulge all information yet. I'm hardly a Microsoft apologist but it sure looks to me like everyone is just assuming the worst about everything. 'Indie publishing will be like on the 360' does not equate to 'We hate indie publishers and want them gone'. 'Cloud computing will allow better graphics if the developers implement it' isn't the same as 'The hardware sucks and we're using always-online DRM'. 'We're offering more multimedia capability for uses other than games' doesn't equal 'It can't play games, deal with it'. And for people to already be jumping ship to Sony of all companies is just the irony of ironies. Honestly, like it or not, people are going to buy the Xbox One in droves. I sure won't. Maybe you won't. But we're not the target audience, we're not the intended market. Microsoft knows that they have the diehard gamers who will buy it anyways, but their main focus is the market that the Wii earned money in hand over fist, and I think it's safe to say that it'll work. After all, who do you suppose the target is for an all-in-one multimedia system? Or full-body Kinect? Or voice commands? Is it the Halo player who only uses a console for games, prefers a controller, and doesn't need an intuitive interface- the kind of person who might be concerned about region-locking, or hard drive space? I don't think so. And that's why it'll sell.
While they may have alienated gamers, they have shifted their focus to the much larger mass market. This will sell and sell well, just not to the gaming community
"gaming community" so people who are going to buy the xb1 aren't gamers? what.

They stay aloof and make these vague press statements, offering little clarification until they're ready for actual release. Frankly it surprises me how successful they are as a company. When it comes to building brand or building hype, companies like Apple have MS beaten handily. [editline]29th May 2013[/editline]
"gaming community" so people who are going to buy the xb1 aren't gamers? what.
He means 'gamers' as in 'hardcore gamers' as in the kind of gamers you'll find on Facepunch, as opposed to people who play Kinect shovelware. It seems to me like the Xbox One is trying to market more towards the Wii demographic, with a side of multimedia center. They don't want it to be the console that Call of Duty fans buy. They want it to be the console everyone buys.
Can't wait to see the line of people running down the high street from wherever they bought it, console in one hand receipt in the other, and the repetitive sound of "What is this shit, I want my money back!"

In an ideal world, it should all improve dammit. Next generation? my ass Clipping the fuck out of gaming? seems more like it. I really wish that just 2 companies wouldnt have the entire console market in their hands.

There's still plenty to legitimately hate about it.
There are 500 or so Blockbusters in the US and around 204 in the UK. Blockbuster is still alive, it was bought by Dish network. They just closed down a lot of stores.
I didn't realize that Blockbuster still existed, I doubt there are any left in my city.
What are the pre-order records for Gamestop, Walmart, and Amazon I wonder
I really hope microsoft makes one an all living hell of updating and connection issues. So average joes will finally think twice.
I will be unhappy if XO sells well becaecue that means it will teach company's that's it's okay to treat gamers like shit
We'd need some youtube video explaining stuff in a simple way go viral.
blockbuster was revived by Direct TV
