It does however give them an excuse for their horrible views.
They'll find an excuse no matter what. Religion just gives that convenient, 'Oh hey! I Believe a fourth of this! And I never actually read it!'
"I hope your children are raped by a herd of goddamn N$%#ERS and then their throats are slit and they die a slow painful death
I like how they also reveal high amounts of racism in this as well, like death threats are not enough
I just want to fast-forward to the time where humanity isn't governed by 3000 year old books.
They'll be four thousand years old by then.
well now, that's not really christian, is it?
okay the billboards are pretty dumb but its even more dumb to threaten to kill people over billboards
I don't care about religion, I don't give a shit what you believe in. But when you start pulling shit like this, it's idiotic and pointless.
Both atheistic and religious billboards should go. They are useless and don't even advertise anything.
Both atheistic and religious billboards should go. They are useless and don't even advertise anything.
huehue we don't believe in religion we're unique hurrrr
Both atheistic and religious billboards should go.
huehue we don't believe in religion we're unique hurrrr
hur hur we believe in religion we're unique I don't get your point.
hur hur we believe in religion we're unique I don't get your point.
point is nobody gives a fuck and nobody should parade their beliefs and disbeliefs around
uh i believe the electorate is entitled to know whether either of the candidates can think rationally [editline]25th August 2012[/editline] they're going to be controlling an obscenely large nuclear arsenal, it'd be nice to know they aren't going to say, misinterpret a chance event as a message from god or something
Nah, you can't judge people based on cognitive flaws they voluntarily have, that's prejudiced.
I personally am not a fan of those billboards. BUT THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO RESPOND. I mean, complaints are one thing, complaints don't hurt anyone. But fucking death threats? Every single time some stupid shit like this happens, it makes us normal sane Christians look bad. But then the most vocal and well-known part of a group is usually the stupidest and loudest. Note: [sp]I have tried to word this as delicately as possible so as not to incite a shitstorm. All I ask is that you please PLEASE do not associate these people with your average Christian. To do so would be like associating the "Lol, you believe in God? What a faggot, lawl, flying spaghetti monster xD" crowd with Athiesm.[/sp]
They are sadly the majority, at least in this point in time. I hear the phrase 'vocal minority' too, and that's simply just not true anymore. The non-vocal ones are the minority as well now. Even my friend who is a christian admits he feels like an outsider in his own religion because most people just don't understand the religion, they are just instructed to believe it and if they don't they go to hell, and thus they don't really care about any of the religions teachings, just that they are forced to associate themselves as 'christians' or they'll become bad people. Religion tends to warp peoples views of good/evil because it's forced on them so often, it has subtle psychological impacts that can be quite devastating in the long term. There are more and more people growing up with this kind of psychology based on the religion, it really has to be said: It doesn't matter WHAT your f'ing beliefs are, just try and be a good person. And people who have a problem with this philosophy, or try to force people into their religious views anyways are evil.
"I hope your children are raped by a herd of goddamn N$%#ERS and then their throats are slit and they die a slow painful death. Now that would be fun to watch. I hope it happens to all of you atheist parents." -Jesus
AA: "Hmm, let's see how much we can make everyone hate us!" NC Christians: "Shit, they did a good job! But I bet we can top it!" i mean seriously atheists are considered untrustworthy by a lot of people in the US, mostly because so many americans are religious, and shit like taking down 9/11 crosses and mocking political candidates for their faiths doesn't really help them
The reason that the billboards were taken down was not however due to any threats against American Atheists, but were due to threats made toward Adams Outdoor Advertising, who sold the billboard space to the atheist group.
Wow. Threatening AA is one thing, but sending threats to the advertising company? And they probably still think they're good people.
The billboards are inflammatory and there are better ways to make people think, but death threats are never ok.
Both Circlejerks are for idiots. I'm neither.
I would love to put up one of those billboards, and put my address on it. In small letters it would read "problems or concerns? drop by my office located at 6666 whatever ave." So really if they wanted to make death threats they could do it in puerson, not like a pussy with letters.
You know everyone was all "This is so rude" in the last thread, how opinions can change with what's acceptable by your peers. Sensationalist headlines is the biggest mixing pot of hypocrites I've ever seen.
Both Circlejerks are for idiots. I'm neither.
So you're part of the "atheists and theists are dumb and I'm not" circlejerk then.
