So you're going to disrespect the soldiers because of the government's actions?
No, but they're doing this to protest the war.
No, but they're doing this to protest the war.
No. You don't burn the symbol of remembrance for thousands of people who fought for a justified and completely unrelated cause to protest what the current government is doing.
No, but they're doing this to protest the war.
They're doing this because they're a bunch of whiny cunts.
So thats why so many people I know joined that 'lets burn muslims' group on facebook. Personally I think they should just be ignored, let them do that, a shitstorm like this is excatly what they wanted.
No. You don't burn the symbol of remembrance for thousands of people who fought for a justified and completely unrelated cause to protest what the current government is doing.
Poppies are for veterans in general, not just WWI and WWII. [editline]13th November 2010[/editline] (is Britain still involved in Afghanistan I forget)
I'm pretty sure if they had a day to remember those who fought for their freedom and we stepped in and said "fallen = 'terrorists' ", they'd be ticked off by that.
Poppies are for veterans in general, not just WWI and WWII. [editline]13th November 2010[/editline] (is Britain still involved in Afghanistan I forget)
I'm pretty sure they are.
They're protesting Armistice day? Really? :geno: My grandfather got GASSED during the 1st World, and had to live out the rest of his life in a veterans hospital because of it. Get out.
We got banned from burning the Qu'ran's and stuff for being Racist...and then they're doing that!. It's fucking ridiculous and they should be deported like someone said in a post before.
Sometimes i think this forum is populated entirely by tabloid journalists. [editline]13th November 2010[/editline]
Im fairly sure we already hate the government for the wars, expenses and fucking the economy
No silly you're SOOOOOOOOOOOO pre-election that was Labour!
"British Soldiers: Terrorists". I'm sorry, whut? Hypocritical much.
"British Soldiers: Terrorists". I'm sorry, whut? Hypocritical much.
No it's not hypocritical because they are protesters, not terrorists. Do you really think staging an offensive protest is the same thing as killing thousands of innocent people because that is really dumb
I'm seeing lots of people, not just on here, showing hatred to people who look middle eastern for this. Firstly: it was 35 people. the Islam faith numbers in the millions. it's not even a handful of that let alone of the people who can be catagorised as middle eastern secondly: The original purpose of the poppy was to commemorate a war in which we fought against extreme religious intolerance. do you realise how fucking ignorant, hypocritical and disrespectful you're being? they died fighting against the exact act you're practising in retaliation. I agree what they did was wrong but you can't target anyone else but them.
"British Soldiers: Terrorists". I'm sorry, whut? Hypocritical much.
Terrorism, is using terror etc to gain political or social means, so yeah they're technically terrorists, but that makes me a terrorist too.
No it's not hypocritical because they are protesters, not terrorists. Do you really think staging an offensive protest is the same thing as killing thousands of innocent people because that is really dumb
No, I wasn't saying that the protesting was hypocritical, please don't misunderstand me. People have a right to voice their opinions. I was just pointing out that it's not really going to be well received considering the high profile terrorisms such as 9/11. Each side, to an extent, is as bad as each other, and I appreciate, yes, the terrorism extends to both sides. I just meant it was a rather poor point of protest, seeing as we're both as bad as each other.

"British soldiers: terrorists"
Well then, I can't say or do much. But I hope they get some sort of karma.
My favorite part is "Islam will dominate". Disgusting fundamentalist ideals: the best cultural bridge builder since ethnic cleansing.
These protestors are not responsible for 9/11. 9/11 was perpetrated by al Qaeda, a terrorist organization.
They call all british soldiers terrorists because of something a few soldiers did. We call them terrorists because of something a few muslims did. Also, God and Allah is the same fucking (fictional) entity, why is it that atheists are the only people that actually read the quran and the bible.
They call all british soldiers terrorists because of something a few soldiers did. We call them terrorists because of something a few muslims did. Also, God and Allah is the same fucking (fictional) entity, why is it that atheists are the only people that actually read the quran and the bible.
Hey, uh, you can't apply faulty logic to a situation just because another group of people are applying faulty logic. They're not terrorists. They're cunts, but they're within the law with their protest. On a side note, they're also misguided about the symbolism of the poppy. The poppy's aim is to provide support for all those injured by War and to try and prevent more devastating losses. That's the whole point - the poppy symbolism comes from the poppy fields of the Great War, which was supposed to be the "war to end all wars". To quote Edwin Starr:
War means tears To thousands of mothers eyes When their sons go to fight And lose their lives I said, war, huh Good God, y'all What is it good for Absolutely nothing Say it again
This is the whole point of the poppy. The poppy is not a militaristic symbol. You don't buy the poppy to support war, you buy the poppy to care for soldiers who were injured by war as part of an overall hope to ending war. People seem to have forgotten this. By buying a poppy, you're not supporting "our boys fighting in Afghanistan", you're supporting the war wounded and those the dead have left behind. Read this as- "Muslims clash with police after burning poopy"
No, but they're doing this to protest the war.
No, they're doing this will the sole purpose of being offensive fucks. There's a protest then there's burning the poppies and shit, it's across the line.
Okay, now they're just fucking with us, with the full intention of pissing us off. It's really ridiculous.
Are you michael c. hall or are you just fantasizing about him? your avatar is really creepy
"There is no God but Allah"
I don't get it, Allah = God. That God is the same God of the three Abrahamic religions. How is that offensive? Kind of dumb on their part.
No, they're doing this will the sole purpose of being offensive fucks. There's a protest then there's burning the poppies and shit, it's across the line.
They're idiots, but they perceive (erroneously) that the British Government is funding a militaristic victimisation of Muslims. You have to let them protest, so long as they've cleared it with the police and don't damage anyone's property. If you stopped them protesting, you're basically saying "You can protest about anything except" and then that list could have anything added to it (increasing University fees, cutting funding to scientific institutions, increasing alcohol tax, making Communism illegal - who knows?)

None of this marching on soldiers funerals horse shit or burning the fucking poppies, it's fundamentally fucking wrong and they deserve a beating for it.

There is nothing holy about a poppy, nothing sacred - burning it is visual shorthand for saying "I'm pissed off with the British Army!". We don't want to end up like America where defiling the flag is considered a heinous crime.
No burning it is saying "I fucking hate the army and wish to disrespect everything related to them, including the families of those who have died, and all their friends who were heartbroken and grieving for them" The poppy is a symbol, burning it is a symbolic gesture that in my mind says I couldn't give a fuck about YOUR people, mines are infinitely more important and yours are the dregs of society.

If you banned them from burning the poppy, they'd still be able to say "I fucking hate the army and wish to disrespect everything related to them, including the families of those who have died, and all their friends who were heartbroken and grieving for them", but instead of burning a poppy they'd have to say it, or write it on a piece of paper. As a result, banning them from burning the poppy is ultimately futile as the poppy itself is merely a stand in for some hateful speech.
